6 Capacity building for higher education Projects of 2 or 3 years Continuation of previous Tempus, Alfa and Edulink Projects run by consortium of HEIs and other organisations Consortium must include Programme Countries and Partner Countries Projects can be coordinated by an institution from a Programme or a Partner Country Jean Monnet Focus on EU studies to promote excellence in teaching and research on the European integration process in various disciplines Equip students and young professionals with knowledge of EU subjects Stimulate teaching and research on the European Union

7 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees Joint Master courses offered by consortia of HEIs from Programme and Partner Countries Aim to attract the best students worldwide through high level scholarships 350 Joint Master Degree courses to be selected, Expected to fund 25,000 students and staff over 7 years International credit mobility Opening of intra-european Erasmus to the rest of the world 135,000 grants in 6 years Mobility or students & staff (for learning & teaching) Managed by National Agencies located in programme countries Emphasis on incoming students and staff to programme countries

8 Erasmus+ preparatory visits Travel grants for teachers/staff from Swedish HEIs to visit HEIs in Latin America (or other partner country) Purpose: to form new partnerships and create new projects within Erasmus+ No deadlines for applications Flat rates depending on the country Max 2 persons per preparatory visit Application is sent to the Swedish Council for Higher Education. 9 Linnaeus Palme - Planning trips - Teacher & student exchange at undergraduate and master s level Stimulate long-term bilateral co-operation between HEI in Sweden and in low or middle income countries Increase international awareness Capacity development Reciprocity and mutual benefit Open to all subject areas Teacher exchange 3-8 weeks Student exchange weeks

11 What is a contact seminar?

12 Contact seminars Organised by UHR every year in an Erasmus+ partner region A delegation of persons from Swedish (Nordic) HEIs go together as a group for 4-5 days to two countries Purpose: to facilitate for Swedish (Nordic) applicants to establish new contacts Cooperation between Erasmus+ international dimension (previous Tempus and Erasmus Mundus) and the Linnaeus-Palme programme

15 Result of the contact seminars Number of applications as a direct result of participation: 45 Granted projects as a direct result of participation: 39 Continued contact with local / regional partners: 81 % Continued contact with other Swedish participants: 92% "It is easy to acquire new partners during contact seminars": 90 % 55 % are very satisfied and 40 % were satisfied with the structure of the contact seminars source: survey to previous participants in contact seminars Totally 37 replies.

16 News for the contact seminar 2015 First time in a region outside of the EU neighbouring countries First time in countries with no Erasmus+ (previous Tempus) offices First time UHR organises a preparatory seminar before the contact seminar First time as a cooperation between the Nordic countries First time UHR offers a travel grant to Swedish HEIs More days in each country than during previous seminars

17 Participants 23 from Swedish HEIs 4 from UHR 1 from the Swedish Institute 1 from UKÄ 7 from HEIs in Denmark, Finland and Iceland 2 from NAs (Iceland och Danmark) 2 from Panama, 1 from Ecuador Totally max 100 participants per city, including local participants

18 Faculty visits what to think about Faculty visits will take place 15 October in Bogotá, 16 October in Medellín and 20 & 21 October in Lima Purpose of the visits: to meet with local counterparts to discuss project ideas and possible cooperation together Everyone will be guaranteed at least one visit per city according to your interest If you want to make more faculty visits you can organise them yourself On 21 October in Lima you will be able to plan your own meetings to continue the discussions with contacts from previous meetings or create new contacts

22 Practical recommendations Flights should already have been booked and hotel nights confirmed Credit cards work in most places, but it is recommended to bring some US dollar just in case Currency: PEN/SOL (Peru): 10 euro = ~ 35 pen COP (Colombia): 10 euro = ~ cop Visas not necessary. Remeber to fill in tourism as reason for your visit! Dress code: formal Weather: degrees celcius

23 Costs Flight costs: ~ 1500/person Hotels: euro /person/night. Totally 9 nights for those who arrive on 12th and leave on 21st (totally ~ 550) All participants pay for their own hotel and accomodation Swedish HEIs receive a travel grant of sek/person a few days before the seminar Participants from other Nordic HEIs and Non-HEIs pay 200 euro/visited country. This cost can be covered by their National Agency

24 Travel grant Funded by the Swedish state sek for all participants from Swedish HEIs Will be destributed a few days before the trip, on condition that you have provided account information and proof of payment Compulsory to fill in the evaluation after the seminar
