4 Introduction As the advent of the hobbyist has grown in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), also known as drones, so has the technology and responsibility that has accompanied their many tools and accessories. To first responders, these toys and technology can be put to good use, but must be done so responsibly, and with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Making sure UAS are flown in National Airspace System (NAS) is the responsibility of FAA and Local Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA). (Federal Aviation Administration [FAA], 2014)

24 Conclusion Despite the obvious need and technological advances of UAS, the benefits to first responders are positive. UAS assistance to first responders, contribute to the welfare of society, traffic control, patrol, investigations, and surveillance. With the assistance of the FAA, regulation of UAS has helped the development and use of UAS. The FAA is still evolving with the technology of UAS, and adopting regulations for UAS continued use. UAS have become more recognizable and accepted by society and for first responder use.
