3 Dear Colleagues! The 2009 year s Congress of the Hungarian Ophthalmological Society (HOS) will be organized between June 25 and , in Budapest. The internationalisation of the theoretical and clinical sciences is demonstrated by the fact that our national congress is organized, not only with the participation of invited foreign guests, but together with an international society, the South-East European Ophthalmological Society (SEEOS). As in the past years, the Hungarian Society of Pediatric Ophthalmologists and Strabologists and the Hungarian Contactological Society join our Congress. HARVO, that was founded last year, will also participate with its own session. HARVO is not only a section of HOS, but also one of the chapters of ARVO. The main subject of our Congress: The Clinical and Interdisciplinary Aspects of Ophthalmology, besides our clinical commitments, also indicates the close connections of our discipline to other fields of Medicine. The statement is especially true for Ophthalmology that those who know and practice borderlands, not only broaden their knowledge and field of activity, but practice their own field on a higher level, and enrich with newer and newer methods the diagnostic and therapeutic armamentarium of Ophthalmology. With these thoughts we wish You a fruitful conference and a pleasant stay in our beautiful capital, Budapest. András Berta, MD, PhD, DSc President of HOS Andrea Facskó, MD, PhD General Secretary of HOS János Németh, MD, PhD, DSc Foundation Board Member of SEEOS
