1 0.0 Page of SECTION 00 AIR DUCT ACCESSORIES PART - GENERAL RELATED DOCUMENTS Drawings and general provisions of Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division- Specification sections, apply to work of this section. QUALITY ASSURANCE UL Compliance: Construct, test, and label fire dampers in accordance with UL Standard, Standard for Fire Dampers. Construct, test, and label smoke and combination fire/smoke dampers in accordance with UL Standard S, Standard for Smoke Dampers. Construct, test, and label ceiling radiation dampers in accordance with UL Standard C, Standard for Ceiling Dampers. NFPA Compliance: Comply with applicable provisions of NFPA 0A and/or NFPA 0B pertaining to installation of ductwork accessories. AMCA Compliance: Test and rate airflow dampers in accordance with ANSI/AMCA Standard 00-D, Laboratory Methods of Testing Dampers for Rating. Test and rate louvers in accordance with AMCA Standard 00-L, Laboratory Methods of Testing Louvers for Rating. SUBMITTALS General: Submittals shall demonstrate compliance with technical requirements by reference to each subsection of this specification. Where a submitted item does not comply fully with each and every requirement of the Specifications, the submittal shall clearly indicate such deviations. Identification requirements for non-complying features of items are very specific. See Section 0 for exact requirements. Manufacturer's Data: Submit manufacturer's technical product data for each type of ductwork accessory, including dimensions, capacities, and materials of construction, and installation instructions. 2 0.0 Page of PART - PRODUCTS AIRFLOW DAMPERS Low Pressure Manual (Balancing) Dampers: Construction: Dampers installed in dishwasher exhaust ductwork, return air ductwork in natatoriums, and in other wet locations shall be constructed of Type stainless steel, including shafts and hardware exposed to the airstream. All other dampers shall be constructed of G0 galvanized steel with zinc-plated shafts and hardware exposed to the airstream. Single blade or multiblade volume damper shall be constructed in accordance with SMACNA's HVAC Duct Construction Standards - Metal and Flexible, Figures - and -. Quadrant Locks: Provide each low pressure balancing damper with a quadrant lock device on one end of shaft, and end bearing plate on other end for damper lengths over ". Provide extended quadrant locks and end extended bearing plates for externally insulated ductwork. Control Dampers: Provide dampers with parallel blades for - position control, opposed blades for modulating control. Dampers shall be constructed of 0.-inch-minimum thick steel or 0.-inch-minimum thick, extruded-aluminum frames with holes for duct mounting; damper blades shall not be less than 0.0-inch-thick steel with maximum blade width of inches and maximum length of inches. Dampers installed in dishwasher exhaust ductwork, return air ductwork in natatoriums, and in other wet locations shall be constructed of Type stainless steel, including shafts and damper hardware exposed to the airstream. All other dampers shall be constructed of G0 galvanized steel with zinc-plated shafts and hardware exposed to the airstream. Secure blades to /-inch-diameter axles with oil-impregnated sintered bronze blade bearings, blade-linkage hardware, ends sealed against spring-stainless-steel blade bearings, and thrust bearings at each end of each blade. Operating Temperature Range: From minus 0 to plus 0 F. Edge Seals: Use inflatable blade edging or replaceable rubber blade seals and spring-loaded stainless-steel side seals, rated for Leakage Class I according to ANSI/AMCA 00-D. Gravity Backdraft Dampers: Provide multi-blade, parallel configured damper with aluminum blades and frame. Frame shall be inches x minimum 0.00 inch extruded aluminum channel with mitered corners and have -/ flange on entering or leaving side as required by the indicated installation condition. Damper designed for horizontal installation shall incorporate counterbalance weights and/or spring assist as required for tight close-off. Blades shall be single-piece, horizontally overlapping type, wide. constructed of extruded aluminum with interlocking edge seals and stainless steel spring end seals, stainless steel pivot pins, and steel ball bearing pivot raceways. Blades shall be linked together in a rattle-free arrangement with 0-degree open blade stop(s). Linkage shall be fully concealed within the damper frame. All dampers shall be equipped with manually adjustable spring tensioning mechanism for setting start to open pressure. Dampers for low pressure applications (maximum -/ wg discharge pressure) shall be designed for,000 fpm air velocity at wg differential pressure. All other dampers shall be designed for,00 fpm air velocity at wg differential pressure. 3 0.0 Page of Barometric Pressure Relief Dampers: Provide multi-blade, parallel configured damper with aluminum blades and frame. Provide replaceable fusible link rated at 0- F in duct systems with air temperatures up to 0 F and F links for air temperatures exceeding 0 F (i.e. smoke purge systems). Dampers installed in low velocity ductwork (00 fpm or less) " or less in height or in high velocity ductwork shall be "Type B" damper (blades and frames out of the air stream), unless otherwise indicated on Drawings. Include blade lock and stainless steel closure spring for horizontal dampers. Fire/Smoke Dampers: Provide dynamic combination fire/smoke dampers of multi-blade type, normally closed, low leakage (Class I) in accordance with UL-S and UL-. Provide dynamic curtain type A, interlocking blade fire damper in accordance with UL-. Provide replaceable fusible link rated at 0- F in duct systems with air temperatures up to 0 F and F links for air temperatures exceeding 0 F (i.e. smoke surge systems). Actuators shall be two-position, 0v/ph/0 hz designed to close damper upon a loss of power. Smoke Dampers: Provide multi-blade damper that is UL S labeled, low leakage (Class I) rated. Actuators shall be two-position, 0v/ph/0 hz designed to close damper upon a loss of power. DUCT ACCESS DOORS Provide duct access doors where indicated on the Drawings or required by Division specification sections, of size required for the application. Provide access doors, whether indicated or not, for all duct mounted coils, fire damper or fire/smoke damper links, duct smoke detectors, and for visual access to all manual and automatic dampers. 4 0.0 Page of Fabricate access panels according to SMACNA's HVAC Duct Construction Standards - Metal and Flexible, Figures - and -, as applicable, except that locks shall be cam type with steel or cast aluminum handles. Plastic handles are prohibited. Doors shall be rectangular double-wall type, constructed of G0 galvanized sheet metal with mineral fiber insulation fill and thickness in accordance with Section 0. Frame shall be galvanized sheet steel with bend-over tabs and foam gaskets. Fabricate doors airtight and suitable for duct pressure class. FLEXIBLE DUCT CONNECTORS Provide flexible connector between ductwork and any fan or air-handling unit connected to the ductwork. Connectors shall be fabricated of noncombustible fabrics and any coatings or adhesives applied shall comply with UL, Class. Frame shall be steel and fabric shall be oz/sq. yd or heavier. Connector shall be sized for minimum 0% additional travel and/or deflection at full airflow. Where flexible connectors are located downstream of electric heating coils or installed in ductwork that serves as part of a smoke control system, the connector shall be rated for application at temperatures up to 0 F. PART EXECUTION INSTALLATION Install fire dampers in accordance with the manufacturer s installation requirements to comply with installation as ULtested. Do not firestop the gap between the fire damper sleeve and the penetration unless specifically required by the damper manufacturer s installation instructions. Install fire/smoke and smoke dampers in accordance with manufacturer's requirements to comply with installation as UL-tested. Provide final connections to nearest fire alarm control module. Locate duct access doors clear of obstructions and located for ready access to all ductwork accessories. Install duct access doors to open against system air pressure, with latches operable from either side, except outside only where duct is too small for person to enter. Label access doors in accordance with Section 0. Install sound attenuators in compliance with SMACNA's HVAC Duct Construction Standards - Metal and Flexible, as applicable. Provide flexible duct connector at both entering and leaving ends of attenuators. Adjust ductwork accessories for proper settings, install fusible links in fire dampers and adjust for proper action. EXTRA STOCK Furnish extra fusible links to Owner, one link for every ten installed of each temperature range; obtain receipt Air Duct Accessories; //0 July, 0

PART MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT.0 Method of Measurement: Measurement of Air Duct Accessories related items (Section 00) shall be measured for payment per the unit indicated in the Itemized Proposal..0 Basis of Payment: Payment of Air Duct Accessories related items (Section 00) shall be made at the contract unit price indicated in the Itemized Proposal. The price shall constitute full compensation for furnishing labor, materials, equipment, incidental items, expenses, complete and in place as specified by the Contract Documents and Standard Specifications.
