1 PEOPLE AND ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT HR Services Team Full Time, Permanent Grade E: 25,769-31,656 per annum The Directorate of People and Organisational Development is home to Human Resources, Organisational Development, Occupational Health, Wellbeing and Safety. The HR Services Team led by the HR Deputy Director of POD is seeking to recruit an experienced to join the centralised team in the delivery of a proactive and comprehensive operational service to faculties and directorates. As the, you will work both autonomously and within the wider team. You will work in collaboration with HR Partners, HR Officers and the HR Operations Manager to bring employment related issues to a timely and professional conclusion. You will ensure a range of key processes are administered efficiently. You will also ensure that recruitment processes are completed in a timely manner and that you support your colleagues by providing accurate guidance and advice to recruiting managers. The role will also play a fundamental role in managing casework, in supporting HR projects and driving corporate initiatives. You will support your team in maintaining quality of service and you will actively look for opportunities for driving through quality improvement. You will have experience of supervising a team of HR administrators and ensuring day-to-day objectives are achieved. You will have previous experience of mentoring, motivating and coaching the team. You will have a basic knowledge of employment law, especially relating to contracts of employment and recruitment. You will have experience of managing complex casework and in particular, you will have a high level of knowledge regarding eligibility issues. 2 Job Description HR Services Team, Directorate of People and Organisational Development Directorate Duties of the role Overall purpose of the role Main duties and responsibilities To lead a team of operational, administrative or technical staff, including taking responsibility for team utilisation, quality of work, motivation and efficiency of team members. Lead and motivate the team to ensure day-to-day objectives are achieved. Carry out regular 1:1 s and annual appraisals with team members. Ensure day-to-day control of the workload of the team and resolution of problems in a timely fashion. Support the team in maintaining quality of service and address issues as required. Monitor team performance and make necessary adjustments to operational procedures to ensure targets achieved. Ensure the team is kept up-to-date with legislative/process changes and provide training as required. Produce a wide range of professional documentation to support processes, procedures and training. Communicate and liaise with customers to maintain service level agreement and ensure targets are met. Address issues as required. Administration of key processes (e.g. staff review group, academic promotion outcomes, research leave scheme and salary sacrifice scheme) in a timely manner. Administration of DBS Countersignatory applications on behalf of Lead Countersignatory and ensuring team adherence to policy and process Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UKVI regulations and the sponsor management on-line system and ensure team adherence to policy and process. Procurement card holder for payments as required. Act as key contact for staff for rewards and benefits such as childcare vouchers and cycle schemes Ensure recruitment processes are carried out in a timely manner to meet deadlines. Support team in providing accurate guidance and advice to recruiting managers. Assist with the provision of recruitment and selection workshops as required and the review of the policy and processes when applicable.

3 Duties of the role Liaise with Payroll to ensure deadlines are met. Resolve inputting queries as required. Assist with PSE upgrade testing to schedule and keep team informed of downtimes. Attend system provider annual conference as appropriate. Liaise with key stakeholders to achieve accuracy of information on the HR/Payroll system as required, e.g. data cleansing, restructures, accuracy of RTI and HESA information. Involvement in project work, DMU employability initiatives and high profile recruitment as appropriate and provide support for HR Services Team Manager when required. Promote a Culture of Continuous improvement by actively seeking and proposing service / process improvements. Encourage the team to do the same. Contribute to continuous improvement activities and projects. Ensure safe working practices are fully adopted across the area. Perform any other duties commensurate with the job grade as reasonably required from time to time. Treat all DMU staff, students, contractors and visitors with dignity and respect. Innovative and self-motivated with a clear commitment to the review of working practices and process to ensure delivery of a high quality service Good communication skills both written and verbal Ability to communicate at all levels Experience of complex casework relating to recruitment and selection and in particular eligibility issues Experience of working with key stakeholders to meet essential deadlines e.g. payroll and advertising agency
