Please plan to attend Tuesday, October 25 from 6:00 7:00 p.m. for exciting science experiments and door prizes!

2 BASKETBALL AND CHEERLEADING INFORMATIONAL MEETING An informational meeting for students and parents about the Basketball and Cheerleading teams will be held in Mr. McCausey s classroom on Tuesday, October 25 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Basketball teams are open to tryouts for students in fifth through eighth grade. The cheerleading team is open to tryouts for students in sixth through eighth grade. Mr. McCausey s classroom is the second classroom on the left in Pod C. Look for the green door. HALLOWEEN PARTY The Parent Club is sponsoring a Halloween Party this Friday, October 28 from 5:30 7:00 p.m. The Parent Club is asking for donations of bags of candy. Donations can be dropped off in the office any time this week. AFTER SCHOOL PRIDE Mr. Guza received an extraordinary compliment regarding Renaissance students last week. Instructors from CMU brought a STEM workshop to our after school participants. The CMU leaders went out of their way to describe how impressed they were by our students engagement and behavior and expressed their desire to collaborate on more activities with this excellent group. We congratulate all of these students on a true demonstration of Rams Pride! VOLLEYBALL The Volleyball teams wrap up their season this week with away games. On Monday, the teams play St. Mary s in Big Rapids. On Thursday they play St. Ann s in Cadillac. The MMSL League Tournament will be at Big Rapids High School on Saturday, October 29. The bus will leave at 7:00 a.m. The tournament will start at 9:00 a.m. The bus will return with the teams as soon as the Rams games are completed. If you would like to stay until the end for the clean-up crew, please have a transportation waiver signed by Mrs. Bergman prior to the tournament. Thank you. Please see Mr. McCausey with any questions. SUPPLIES NEEDED Mrs. Hubbell's ELA class is in need of one liter or approximate size clear bottles for an upcoming project. Thank you! Voyager classes are starting a new science unit and are in need of cardboard boxes, toilet paper and paper towel tubes, tissue paper, solid colored fabric, washable paint, string/yarn, cardstock, face paint, cotton balls, feathers, pipe cleaners, etc. The Parent Club is asking for donations of bags of candy for the Halloween Party. Donations can be dropped off in the office any time this week. VIDEO PRODUCTION Renaissance middle school student Simon Doyle s entry to the MAC TV Halloween Film Contest will be premiered tonight at Celebration Cinemas. 3 TECHNOLOGY In technology class, the middle school students from Mrs. Hubbell's advisory created fun and original videos using the Animoto app on ipads. We had a lot of fun taking pictures and videos clips and choosing the music to accompany the videos! Some students chose to have "RPSA" as their subject, while other topics included autumn, football, and the online game, Poptropica. Several students went above and beyond the assignment, and created additional videos. One group took pictures of a Winnie the Pooh figurine, as it traveled around the school! The students worked collaboratively and respectfully, and it was fun to watch them get so creative! Look for some of their work on soon! Voyagers have all received usernames and passwords to play a fun online math game called Prodigy! We have recently been playing Prodigy during tech class, but many students want to have the option to play at home. You will find a username and password stapled into their agendas.
