1 Installing the External Display External Display Thank you for purchasing a LeCroy Zi Oscilloscope External Display. After removing all parts from the packaging and preparing your oscilloscope, use the following topics to connect cables, mount the external display to the top of your instrument, and enable the accessory from the oscilloscope software. External Display Cable Attachments First, attach the DVI and USB cables to the external display. Now, plug the following end of the power supply cable into the back of the external display (right next to the DVI cable). Make sure all connections are secure on the rear of the external display. 2 Assembly Instructions Mount the External Display to Your Oscilloscope Correctly mount your external display to your oscilloscope using the following steps: 1. Unscrew the 3 screws from their threaded holders on the base of the external display. Note: The threaded holders do not go completely through the base of the external display. The larger set of unthreaded holes on the base is meant to be used for mounting the external display to the oscilloscope. 2. Carefully place the external display on the top of oscilloscope. Align the matched holes from the base of the external display with the ones on top of the oscilloscope. 3. Thread the screws (removed during step 1) through the base and top matched holes and fully tighten to prevent tipping RevA

3 Oscilloscope I/O Panel Cable Attachments Make cable attachments to your Zi oscilloscope's I/O panel as follows: External Display First, make sure the power supply cable is connected to the power adapter. Now, plug the following end of the power supply cable into a properly grounded power outlet. Now, plug the DVI plug into the PCI slot (on the oscilloscope's I/O panel) and the USB plug into an available port (also on the on the oscilloscope's I/O panel). CAUTION LeCroy provides a specific ground plug power cord for use with this product. To avoid electric shock, only use the supplied cord on a properly grounded power outlet. Switching on the External Display Push and release the power switch marked with the following symbol on the rear of the panel. Repeat the process to switch off the External Display. Intel Chipset Driver Version Check Check the version of the Intel Q35 Chipset Driver version by launching the Device Manager from the Control Panel. Expand the Display adapters on the listing of items shown in the Device Manager and open the item labeled Intel Q RevA 3

4 Assembly Instructions Intel Q35 Chipset Driver property dialog is shown. Make sure your driver version is or higher. The latest version of the driver can be downloaded from the Q35 work and support downloads section of the Intel website at Enable the External Display from Your Oscilloscope Software Turn on your oscilloscope, let the instrument boot, and then touch Display Display Setup... from the menu bar. Now, touch the Open Monitor Control Panel button on the Second Monitor Configuration section of the Display dialog RevA

5 External Display The Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver interface is shown where you can adjust your second monitor settings. Select Extended Desktop from the Operating Mode drop-down. Click and drag the display box labeled 2 on the Position part of the screen and stack it above box 1. Now, click OK. The system shows a time prompt asking if you want to apply the settings. The standard LeCroy desktop wallpaper is now shown on the external display. Dual Display Grid Selection Now, select Display Display Setup to make a grid display selection for your dual display. Numbered labels on this image correspond with the following steps. Note: First-time setup may show a different Display tab. Fix this by touching File Exit on the menu bar and re-launching the oscilloscope software using the Start DSO shortcut on the desktop. 1. Touch the Dual button on the Display Mode section of the Display dialog. 2. Touch inside the Grid field on the Grid Mode section of the dialog. The Select Grid pop-up is shown. 3. Touch the Dual Display category and choose from Single/Single, Dual/Dual, and Quad/Quad options. Your grid selection is now shown on both displays RevA 5

6 Assembly Instructions Touch-Screen Calibration If desired, calibrate your primary and external displays from Utilities Utilities Setup on the menu bar. Touch the Touch-Screen Calibration button on the Utilities tab and follow the prompts. LED Indicators LED indicator lights are shown on the lower-left corner of the external display bezel. When the external display power cable is disconnected, both Video and Standby LED's are off. The LED's signal the following issues: VGA Plug Disconnected (from External Display or Oscilloscope) When the VGA cable is unplugged from either end, the Standby LED shows a flashing amber light. Note: When the external display VGA cable is plugged back in, the external display is shown as an additional window on the primary display. Restore your external display configuration by dragging this window to the external monitor, and then maximizing the window. External Display Power Button Pressed When the external display power button is pressed, the screen enters standby mode and the Standby LED shows a solid amber light. Correct Connections and Power When all external display connections are correctly made, the Video LED shows a solid green light RevA

Spare parts, replacement parts and repairs are warranted for 90 days. 8 Assembly Instructions For indoor use only. The External Display is intended for indoor use and should be operated in a clean, dry, environment. Do not operate with suspected failures. Do not use the product if any part is damaged. All maintenance should be referred to qualified service personnel. Keep product surfaces clean and dry. Use and Maintenance Be sure to turn off the power before any maintenance is performed. Clean your External Display as follows: Gently wipe covers and screen with a soft cloth. Remove finger marks and grease with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Never use flammable cleaning materials to clean the External Display.
