We have planned some celebrating along with some phenomenal sessions for you, including Mickey Rooney s appearance by video! We have many interactive sessions offered throughout the conference, as well as up-to-the-minute breaking news sessions on Saturday. This conference s educational tracks include three significant practice areas: Fiduciary Representation, Long-Term Care Planning, and Advancing Your Practice. And, don t forget to sign up in advance for a small group coaching session which will be held on Saturday, May 4 that will provide you with take-aways that you can immediately apply in your practice. International 4-9 / Award Presentation: J Powley Award Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Credit Information The NAELA Annual Conference is one of the best opportunities for practitioners to earn Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits to maintain their state license, demonstrate continued professional development, and increase professional knowledge in the Elder and Special Needs Law fields. NAELA has applied for and is awaiting approval from certain states with MCLE requirements. Normally, we would have CLE details back in time for the program. This year, in alignment with our commitment to provide the highest quality standards and the most comprehensive educational programming, NAELA had to send out the call for workshop proposals twice and build a curricula by utilizing new ideas, tools, and best practices to help you accomplish more in your practice. Overman, JD, Director, Trust Unit, HMS Government Services, Georgia Department of Community Health; Lynnette Rhodes, JD, Director of Legal Services, Georgia Department of Community Health Not only must today s special needs trusts include the flexibility to address changing situations, but the attorneys preparing them must stay current on the volatile environment in order to be effective. OBRA 93 ushered in a new age in the use of Special Needs Trusts as planning vehicles for persons with disabilities, and new requirements for federal and state SNT reviews. The states, however, have little in the way of resources to meet the demand for effective SNT review programs, and have been given virtually no help from the federal level. Creative states are increasingly seeking the assistance of private resources. This session will describe the successful private program for SNT reviews, and give the practitioner practical insight on the state perspective on SNTs and accounting reviews.
