(Figure 1 Windows and door layout) Scope of work should include, but is not limited to: Type A Windows (Refer to figure 2): Replace existing fire rated windows with new fire rated windows. New frames and associated materials to match existing. Two (2) to be replaced, refer to figure 2 and specification for more detail; Type B Windows (Refer to figure 3): Replace existing operable windows with new operable windows (Awning Style). New frames and associated materials to match existing. Five (5) to be replaced, refer to figure 3 and specification for more detail; Type C Transom Window and double doors (Refer to figure 4): Replace existing transom window with new transom window. Replace existing 34-1/2 wide double doors with a new set a double doors that meet the new Ontario Legislated Accessibility Criteria (See figure 4 for more detail). New frames and associated materials to match existing. Refer to figure 4 and specification for more detail. Contractor to coordinate with 360 Advanced Security Corporation (ASC) for the removal and re-instatement of the security hardware on the double doors. Payment to 360 ASC will be handled separately by the

7 B r i t a n n i a W P P W i n d o w s a n d D o o r s R e p l a c e m e n t P a g e 7 General Instructions Examination: Prior to beginning work, examine all conditions likely to affect the work, including the following: 1. Examine the site, which includes work area, adjacent areas and areas used for access, as well as storage and disposal. 2. Identify and record any existing damage. Assume responsibility and cost for repair of any undocumented existing damage on the site. Scheduling: Time is of the essence of the work. Take necessary measures to complete work in accordance with the accepted schedule and as follows: Submittals: Provide all required submittals prior to beginning work at the site. Maintain these and other required documents on site. Submit the following: 1. Construction schedule in acceptable, legible and readily reproducible format, showing dates for mobilization, for start and finish of work and for demobilization. 2. Shop drawings: 1. Take all field measurements required for proper layout and installation of the work. Examine and confirm out-of-square and out- of-plane tolerances in existing components and assemblies. 2. Provide shop drawings for all window assemblies, complete with layout, typical details, drainage, anchorage and tie-in details. 3. Shop drawings are to be sealed and signed by Professional Engineer. 3. Permits and certificates. 4. Site-specific health and safety plan, including health and safety procedures, hazard assessment and control, emergency response and evacuation plan as well as emergency contact information and phone numbers. 5. Product data including technical data as well as WHMIS MSDS. 6. Names of construction site personnel and replacements. 7. Photo record of any existing damage, to acceptance by. Taxes, Permits and Certificates: Pay all taxes and fees. Provide all required permits and certificates, including the following: Use of Site: Building and premises will remain in normal operation during the construction plate. Comply with Manager s requirements regarding use of site, including the following: 1. Use building power, water services only as permitted by Manager. Protect and maintain the services used. 2. Smoking on the site is not permitted. Access and Protection: Provide all access and conveying equipment and protection required for the work including the following: 1. When work is in progress within 4.6 metres (15 ) of a public passage, provide protection of the public, consisting of a minimum of continuous barricades or, where required, fully decked overhead protection, all complete with warning signs. 2. Protect finished work, work in progress, materials being handled or stored and existing adjacent or underlying construction. Provide protection to prevent damage to building surfaces and grounds. 3. Protect building construction and interior from water infiltration. Do not remove more glazing components and seals than can be replaced on the same day.

Work Procedure: Provide all labour, tools, equipment and materials required for a complete job and as follows: 1. Use only the indicated materials and applications or equals accepted by The City of Ottawa during tender period. Accessories, tools and application procedures are to be as indicated and as recommended by manufacturer of product applied. 2. Carry out work only in optimal environmental conditions recommended by product manufacturers and acceptable to The. Assume responsibility and cost to remove and replace work exposed to unacceptable conditions. 3. Cut, patch and make good as required for the work. Except as indicated, do not cut, drill or modify any part of the existing construction. 4. Carry out work that generates excessive noise, per the Manager s discretion, outside of regular building hours. Clean-up: Clean up as required and as follows: 1. Remove loose debris immediately. Provide for proper, environmentally responsible, off-site disposal of removed materials. 2. Maintain clean and tidy work area. Clean up daily, or more often as the work progresses. 3. Clean all exposed metal and glass surfaces included in the work to existing condition and to acceptance by The. Close-out: Upon completion of work at the site, immediately close out operations to The s acceptance and as follows: 1. Clean up at work area and areas used for parking, storage and disposal. 2. Make good all damage caused by work operations. Repair any undocumented previously existing damage on the site. 3. Remove all tools, equipment, excess materials and debris. Return all keys. 4. Provide two (2) copies of project records, including contact information for contractor and principal subcontractors, warranties, technical data for products used and principal suppliers as well as all contract documents. 9 Materials Use the indicated materials or equals accepted by The. Aluminum Windows: Match Existing. Accessories: Clip angles. Thermal break and glazing gaskets. Operable Windows (Awning Type): Window assembly components, profiles and sizes as required. Operable awning units to be complete with extruded aluminum insect screen frames and glassfibre mesh, extruded aluminum butt hinge with stainless steel pins. Finish and colour to match existing around building. Aluminium Metal Sill Flashings: To match Existing. Accessories: Sheet metal screw fasteners with anti-corrosion coating Aluminium Sheet for Spandrel Panel: To match existing windows Accessories: Sheet metal screw fasteners with anti-corrosion coating Glazing gaskets: silicone or silicone-compatible dense neoprene or EPDM, Shore A Durometer of 60 plus or minus 5, profile and dimensions as required. Screw Port Corner Blocks: silicone or silicone-compatible dense neoprene or EPDM, Shore A Durometer of 60 plus or minus 5, depth and width to match dimension of screw port and thermal break, length as required. Setting Blocks: silicone or silicone compatible, 80 Durometer, hardness plus/minus 5, profiled to allow drainage. Length 100 mm (4 ) minimum, width as required to support full thickness of glass units, but not so wide as to block drainage. Glazing Tape: New, preshimmed glazing tape with a continuous shim rod. Dimension of shim rod must be greater than dimension of existing gasket raceway. Products: Polyshim 2 by Tremco Silicone Sealant: One component, moisture curing, non-sag, medium modulus, silicone sealant, in standard colour to The s acceptance. Products: Contractors Weatherproofing Sealant by Dow Corning or accepted equal. Accessories: Non-reactive cleaning agent Rigid Insulation: Extruded polystyrene rigid plastic foam boards, with butt edge, 25mm thick. Products: Styrofoam Cavitymate by Dow or accepted equal Spray Applied Foam: One component polyurethane foam sealant. Products: ENERFOAM by Dow or accepted equal Interior Wood Trim: MDF or Pine to match profile of existing. Execution The following is a detailed description of the replacement procedures. Carry out all work where and as directed by The. See attached Photos for reference. Workmanship 1. Carry out work to required standards and as follows: 1. True to line, elevation, level, plumb and square and without warp or rack of frames, to a tolerance of 1:600 or greater as specified by manufacturer. 2. As directed, remove and replace unacceptable work. Assume associated costs. Window Frame Installation 6/29/2015 Request for Proposal Process Tracker Page 2
10 RFP Process Tracker 1. Install window assemblies in accordance with manufacturer s instructions and accepted shop drawings. 2. Install frames as required and anchor, shim and fix frame in correct position, ensuring proper and even clearances to adjoining construction. 3. Install thermal breaks as required and in continuous lengths, without intermediate joints. 4. For pressure plate system, at framing junctures, install corner blocks to close gaps between adjoining screw ports, to direct drainage from the vertical glazing cavities into the horizontal cavities. Install as required and as follows: 1. Size each corner block to form an exact continuation of adjoining screw port and thermal break and as required to ensure proper compression by pressure plates. Ensure tight fit, allowing for thickness of adhesive. 2. As adhesive, apply a coat of sealant to contact surfaces. 3. Install corner blocks aligned square, true and flush to adjoining surfaces. 4. Fully close gaps in the drainage surface by applying a thin smear of sealant extending onto adjoining screw port surfaces. 5. Install interior glazing tape as required and as follows: 1. Install in continuous lengths, without intermediate joints. 2. Ensure tight fits at all corner junctures. 3. Seal joints with cap bead of sealant. 6. Provide metal flashings where required and as follows: 1. At base of all windows, provide sill flashings, with drip edges, extending from under the pressure plate. 2. Size flashings in maximum possible lengths. Install splice plate under necessary intermediate butt joints in flashings. 3. Temporarily support and secure flashings with shims and adhesive. Do not drive fasteners into window components. 7. Size pressure plates and snap caps in continuous length along framing members, without intermediate joints and without gaps at butt joints. Position pressure plates with slots for drainage from horizontal glazing cavities at lower edges of glass units. Glazing 8. Solidly fill cavity between window frame and adjacent construction with continuous spray applied foam. 1. Warranty: 1. In addition to other warranty requirements, provide the following: 1. A five (5) year extended warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for the work of this Section. 2. A ten (10) year extended warranty against edge seal failure for insulating glass units. 2. Insulating Glass Units: 1. Insulating glass units are to be as follows: 1. 6 mm outboard pane, clear tempered mm air space 3. 6 mm inboard pane, clear tempered with Low-E on #3 surface 2. Fabrication of insulating glass units is to be as follows: 6/29/2015 Request for Proposal Process Tracker Page 3
11 RFP Process Tracker 1. Maintain specified separation of two panes of glass with non-corrosive, desiccant filled, stainless steel, warm-edge spacer core having bent corners and welded joints. 2. Dehydrate air space and hermetically seal inner and outer panes at periphery with continuous primary seal of flexible sealant. 3. Provide continuous secondary seal using silicone sealant. 3. Tempered glass to CAN/CGSB Low emissivity coatings ( Low-E ) are to be neutral in colour. Applied so as to ensure maximum uniformity, edge deleted where silicone sealant is in contact with glass. 3. Spandrel Units: 1. Spandrel units are to be as follows: 1. 3 mm thick aluminum exterior face panel mm thick extruded polystyrene insulation 3. 3 mm thick aluminum interior panel 4. Install Insulating glass units as specified and in accordance with IGMAC manual. 5. Install setting blocks and shims in accordance with instructions of insulating glass manufacturer and as required for proper drainage of water from the bottom of glazing cavities. Sealant 1. Warranty: 1. In addition to other warranty requirements, provide the following: 1. A five (5) year extended warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for the work of this Section. 2. Contractor s warranty that sealant will remain fully bonded and leak proof for warranty period. 2. Primers: as recommended by sealant manufacturer. 3. Clean surfaces for primer or sealant as recommended by manufacturers and as required. 4. Install sealant along all jambs and head of window framing, between snap caps and adjacent construction. 5. Install sealant as recommended by manufacturer and for weather seal as follows: 1. Provide joint fillers, outsized 30% to 50% for proper compression, in continuous lengths. Install in glazing cavity positioned between the edges of the glass units. Do not obstruct drainage cavities. 2. Apply sealant over the joint filler to fill remainder of cavity.
