CFD Open was an open tournament while Future Stars was intended for players upto the age of 15 or younger. Jan Dvorak dominated Future Stars as he defeated excellent Katerina Sigmundova from SKD Teplice in a barrage. Bronze medal stays in PPKD due to 11 years old Jaromir Volf. CFD Open became a race of the two top Czech players Vaclav Krista and Jiri Sysel. They defeated all opponents and met in the last round. Krista won on tactical strike after active play. The second bronze medal goes to young PPKD hope Martin Opletal (15 years) who was the great sensation of the tournament. Expected winner George Miller lost his very first game to Tony Boyle and in spite of all his efforts he took only the bronze medal. Interesting moment was participation of Austrian players - perhaps the first show up of Austrian players in checkers competitions ever. Standing of qualifications was the decisive criteria in the final groups. Vaclav Krista of PPKD Praha won the finals for the 1st upto 4th place with 100 % result, before Jiri Sysel of DKMK Brno, last year champion, and young star Lukas Valenta who took the second place in The best foreign player was George Miller of England on the 6th place. Remarkable was the numerous presence of young players.
