4 ACTIVITIES City tour of Paris Join us this morning for an Orientation Tour of Paris, featuring a panoramic drive for your first glimpse of Paris and some of the most awesome and world-famous sights. We begin with a scenic drive along the magnificent tree-lined boulevards of the western end of Paris as designed by Baron Haussmann in the 19th century; along the Champs Élysées with its ceremonial Arch de Triomphe; and onward to look from the terrace of Chaillot Palace across the waters of the river Seine to the striking heights of Paris s most famous monument, the 100 year old Eiffel Tower. View the École Militaire, the Invalides where Napoleon is buried and the historical magnificence of the Place de la Concorde. Driving further into the narrower streets of the east end of the city, we will see the Ile de la Cité, Paris s birthplace, the Conciergerie, Hotel de Ville and Pont Neuf. We will drive along the left bank of the Seine with its famous river bank bookstalls, the Sorbonne University and the graceful Palais de Luxembourg, and finally along the arcaded Rue de Rivoli to admire the 17th century elegance of the Place Vendôme. Visit the picturesque village of Hautvillers where Dom Perignon invented the double fermentation method whilst he was Cellar Master at the Abbey. From Hautvillers, drive the short distance to Epernay - the traditional rival to Reims for the title of "Champagne Capital". Here you will have an opportunity to explore the old part of the town on foot, and maybe take home a souvenir from one of the many shops displaying the famous products of the region - Moët & Chandon, Taittinger, Mercier, Heidsieck, Bollinger
