2 INTRODUCTION The Extron SpeedMount Ceiling Speaker System is a patented low profile, plenum rated two-piece speaker system designed for division-of-labor installations. The innovative CS 1226T SpeedMount speaker system consists of the CS 12P plenum rated enclosure and a CS 26T two-way speaker cartridge. The CS 12P enclosure installs quickly into 2' x 2' or metric mm x mm suspended ceiling grids. The CS 26T speaker cartridge features a 6.5" (16.5 cm) woofer and a 3/4" (1.9 cm) tweeter in a coaxial design, and can be used in 7/1 volt or 8 ohm operation. The CS 1226T is available as a complete assembly, or the CS 12P and CS 26T can be purchased separately to accommodate division-of-labor installations, with the enclosures installed during rough-in and the speaker cartridges during final installation. 3 FEATURES INTEGRATED TILE BRIDGE Labor and Cost Savings No separate tile bridge No C-rings No tile rails No small parts to lose Faster install The CS 12P enclosure features an integrated tile bridge that evenly distributes the weight of the enclosure and the CS 26T speaker cartridge on the ceiling grid. This avoids the hardware traditionally needed to support conventional ceiling speakers, and reduces associated labor costs. However, the CS 12P is compatible with metric mm square ceiling grids as well. All that is necessary is to cut off the sizing tabs at the ends of the enclosure. The CS 12P can therefore be specified for a wide variety of worldwide suspended ceiling standards.

4 OVERVIEW CS 1226T SPEEDMOUNT CEILING SPEAKER SYSTEM Low Profile Enclosure The 5" (12.7 cm) deep enclosure is ideal for shallow, obstructed ceiling spaces with piping and ducts. Integrated Tile Bridge The enclosure distributes assembly weight without the need for C-rings and V-rails, simplifying installation. MDF Reinforced Enclosure Minimizes unwanted vibrations and prevents acoustic distortion. Clip-Off Mounting Tabs The CS 12P can be installed into metric mm x mm drop ceilings when the tabs are moved. Plenum Rated The UL 243 rated enclosure is designed for plenum ceiling spaces. CS 12P Plenum Enclosure 6 Position Tap Selector Conveniently located behind the grille for easy transformer tap adjustment. Magnetic Speaker Grille The magnetically attached speaker grille installs quickly and easily. Two-Way Coaxial Design The CS 26T features a 3/4" (1.9 cm) tweeter and a 6.5" (16.5 cm) woofer. 5 INSTALLATION The innovative, patented two-piece design of the SpeedMount Ceiling Speaker System greatly simplifies installation of ceiling speakers. Instead of waiting until the final phase of installation, a low-voltage contractor can begin during rough-in by placing a CS 12P enclosure onto the ceiling grid, and running speaker cable through it. This leaves the AV installer with a simple procedure of connecting the CS 26T speaker cartridge to the cable and securing it into the ceiling. During construction rough-in, a CS 12P enclosure is placed into a designated location on the ceiling grid. Speaker cable is passed through the opening of the CS 12P, and then the enclosure is secured to the upper ceiling deck. During final construction, an AV installer connects the speaker cable to the CS 26T speaker cartridge, using the included captive screw connector. The CS 26T is quickly secured to the CS 12P enclosure and ceiling tile using the four enhanced locking arms. A power tap selector is conveniently located on the front baffle edge. The magnetically attached speaker grille quickly snaps into place inside the slim bezel, completing the installation and providing a finishing touch. MODELS The CS 1226T can be purchased as a complete system, or as separate components for a division-of-labor installation, so that the enclosures can initially be delivered to a low-voltage contractor, followed later by the speaker cartridges to the AV integrator. ACCESSORIES The CS 26T speaker cartridge can be installed as a standalone product in non-plenum ceiling spaces. An optional ceiling mount kit is available to serve as a tile bridge for a suspended ceiling grid installation.
