1 FOUR YEAR FLIGHT PLAN BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (BBA) HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT FAU is committed to your success as a student. One way we define student success is efficient and effective progression through your degree program. This Flight Plan is a tool to assist you in planning the courses you should complete and the milestones you should reach during your undergraduate studies so you may graduate on time. It is our intention that you complete this planning tool in collaboration with an academic advisor to ensure good understanding of: The graduation requirements you have satisfied The Intellectual Foundations Program (IFP) and elective courses that best match your career plans How to balance coursework with your other responsibilities (e.g., field experience, employment, etc.) and other activities (e.g., mentored research, study abroad, student organizations, leadership) How to get the most from your academic experience at FAU Your academic advisor will help you customize and maintain your Flight Plan during the next four years so that you stay on track for success at FAU. In order to graduate on time, you will need to: Complete an average of 0 credit hours per year (including summers) Earn 120 credit hours, at least 45 in the upper division (000 or 4000 level) Earn at least 9 credit hours in summer coursework (or equivalent) Your advisor will help you identify what additional milestones apply to you, as well as how you may even graduate early or enter an accelerated graduate program. If you have any questions at all about your FAU Flight Plan, feel free to contact any of the following individuals for assistance. They are here to help! 12 Tips For Success If you start at FAU during a fall semester, enroll in the pre-business freshman learning community (LC) Meet with your advisor at least once a semester. Monitor your progress in your individual courses; check-in with your instructors regularly. Check your degree audit every semester along the path toward graduation. Stay aware of important deadlines. Take advantage of resources FAU has made available to you to help you succeed on your flight plan. COLLEGE OF BUSINESS MAJORS can focus their elective courses on an area that may become a MINOR. For example, hospitality management majors often take classes within the College of Business to choose popular minor areas for hospitality experts. These include marketing, digital marketing, finance, accounting, real estate, and other areas. ALL students must take electives during their upper division coursework. By focusing these elective courses in one area of study, students can receive a minor to list on their resumes and college transcripts giving them an area of expertise beyond their college major. To learn more about minors, please look at the following web page: REACHING YOUR GOAL OF A BBA DEGREE IN HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT In today s busy world, it s easy for students to get off track due to their busy lives with work, families, significant others, financial problems, etc. Florida Atlantic University is committed to helping you make it through to your goal of earning a college degree. We encourage you to use any or all of the resources below if you encounter problems along the way. Remember that if you attend class regularly, take good notes, and read the assignments in a timely manner, you should succeed and reach your goals. If you have problems understanding the lecture topics, specific components within the lectures or reading assignments, or would like to review your exams in person, please set up an appointment with the instructor. He will be as flexible as possible to accommodate your busy schedule. Remember; do not wait until the end of the semester to seek assistance! Reach out to the professor as early as possible when the need arises. Instead of just dropping a course or putting a stop to your attendance when life gets in the way, the faculty members and advisors encourage you to use the relevant, vast resources here at FAU. Please see the extensive, but not exhaustive, list below: UNIVERSITY CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE IN WRITING TUTORING, STUDY ASSISTANCE, & ACADEMIC SUPPORT CENTER FOR LEARNING AND STUDENT SUCCESS STUDENT INVOLVEMENT AND LEADERSHIP OFFICE OF HEALTH AND WELLNESS COUNSELING CENTER STUDENTS IN DISTRESS your program. t all University and State degree requirements are listed.
