1 Natural Assets of Logan Maps to help plan for the achievement of the community's vision for Logan: In the year 2026 Logan is a city of opportunity. Strategically positioned within a rapidly changing region and a global economy, we live in a dynamic city that sustains our quality of life. Here, neighbours, generations and cultures connect. Our lifestyles are in harmony with our environment. Logan City is a safe and healthy community, a place all generations will be proud to live and thrive in.

2 Areas which provide High (not all) levels of services important to achieve the Vision as identified by the community through the Logan City Council Community Plan

3 Climate Regulation Overlap of factors important for providing a habitable local climate for lifestyle and the economy

4 Disturbance Regulation Overlap of factors that help the environment, economy and society withstand extreme weather events such as floods and storms.

5 Biological Control Overlap of factors that provide habitat for beneficial species which reduce pests and diseases these areas also provide barriers that shield the community and commercial crops from pest and disease.

6 Landscape Opportunity Overlap of natural features and landscapes that provide the opportunity to interact with and learn from nature.

7 Greenspace A mix of public areas that provide recreational and nature-based opportunities.

8 Landscape Settings The classification system for regional open space and greenspace, based on the land cover (e.g. built-up versus natural). Used to guide potential recreational use based on setting type.

9 Areas of Bushland (Remnant and Non-remnant Woody Vegetation)

10 Clusters of remnant vegetation forests based on overall size. These clusters are made up of small stepping stones, connectors/corridors and large core forests that form a vegetation network.

11 Agricultural Land Lands identified by the State Government as suitable for producing food and fibre, based on soil suitability.

12 Salinity and Acid Sulfate Soils Land which may be impacted by coastal salinity and have Acid Sulfate Soils due to land and water management and underlying geology.

13 Major Waterways Supporting economic, environmental and recreational industries.

14 Subcatchment Health Risk An assessment of waterway health and water quality based on landcover and erosion risk. Identifies subcatchments at risk from poor water quality, with potential impacts on the environment, society and the economy.

15 Regionally and Locally Important Scenic Amenity Areas that provide good views and scenic landscapes that make us feel good important for tourism too.

16 Areas where natural resource management activities and local engagement have occurred. Programs such as Land for Wildlife, Property Management Planning and SEQC partner projects enhance the ability of natural assets to provide benefits to the environment, economy and society.

17 Estimated loss of natural assets since 2001, which reduces the function of the landscape to provide services for wellbeing. Includes the loss of bushland, wetlands, and seagrass meadows.

18 Areas where land use has changed or could change in the future. This land use change may decrease the ability of natural assets to provide the benefits needed to achieve community visions (based on known plans for development, roads and other infrastructure).

19 How do we keep these areas or replace them so our visions can be met? What natural assets are we prepared to lose? Which are we not prepared to lose?
