At CEC, we understand your time is limited and that s why we offer a variety of ways to pay your electric bill. CEC has an automated payment program where monthly payments are drafted straight from your checking account so electric bills are never paid late and you don t have to worry with mailing a check. Paying online through the CEC website is also a great option and it s just as easy to use on your mobile device. Thousands of CEC members utilize the automated telephone attendant each month to pay their bill any time If you decide to pay your electric bill over the telephone or online, it s important to have your account number handy. Also, remember that you can only use a credit or debit card when paying over the telephone. CEC members can choose to sign up for budget billing, which helps make electric bills more predictable each month. There are eligibility requirements associated with this option, so please call any CEC office for more details if you are interested. If you have children, you probably have papers cluttering desks, counter tops, and the refrigerator door so cutting down on paper is a good idea. CEC s easy paperless billing program delivers an to your account when your bill is ready, and it s conveniently filed online, instead of overflowing a file cabinet or table. You can retrieve old bills and look at past electricity use to make helpful comparisons. With paperless billing, you can choose to pay online, over the telephone, by mail, or call a member services representative during regular business hours. 3 CEC awards 11 s through the Electric Cooperative Foundation Earlier this year, the CEC board of trustees increased the number of s available to local high school seniors. CEC made 15 opportunities available to high school seniors who are the dependents of CEC members. There were two $1,000 s available at each of the seven high schools that CEC serves electrically, with one going to a student pursuing a college degree and one going to a student pursuing a technical school degree. There was one at-large available to a CEC dependent not attending a school served by the co-op, which had no stipulations regarding the degree being pursued. The Electric Cooperative Foundation in Montgomery received all the applications and chose the recipients. Due to the submission of incomplete applications, CEC only awarded 11 s this year. CEC notified counselors and principals about the new opportunities and provided applications at area schools. CEC also sent bill stuffers to all CEC members in February. 5 Selman will serve as Alabama delegate on the Youth Leadership Council Covington Electric Cooperative is proud to announce that Alexandria Selman, a senior at Red Level High School, was chosen as the Alabama delegate to serve on the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association s 2013 Youth Leadership Council. As a winner of CEC s 2013 Washington Youth Tour competition, Selman earned an opportunity to interview for the Youth Leadership Council (YLC). Washington Youth Tour winners representing electric Red Level senior Alexandria Selman will serve as Alabama s delegate on the 2013 NRECA Youth Leadership Council in Washington, D.C. Alexandria is the daughter of Larry and Brenda Selman and she is only the third local student to represent Covington Electric Co-op as the YLC Alabama delegate. cooperatives from around the state were interviewed at the Alabama Rural Electric Association in Montgomery on May 7 to determine who would represent Alabama on the YLC. Selman is only the third local student to represent Covington Electric Co-op as the YLC Alabama delegate. The purpose of the YLC is to emphasize the development of strong leadership, presentation, and advocacy skills in America's most promising young leaders. NRECA coordinates a series of educational workshops for the YLC which cover topics such as the cooperative business model, grass roots advocacy, community service, and careers in public service. Selman was selected not only based on her interviewing and public speaking skills, but also because of her numerous leadership roles in school clubs, organizations and active volunteerism in the community. 8 JULY
