2 SENTINEL Print Pack S/5 SENTINEL Print Pack S/5 is a data capture and distributive printing middleware slutin used t autmate the printing f labels created with LABELVIEW label design sftware. Versin 5.01 delivers new features and crrectins that have been made since the release f SENTINEL Print Pack S/5 versin New Features This versin uses the LABELVIEW 8.01 print engine. The SENTINEL prduct range nw includes tw editins : SENTINEL Print Pack S/5 SENTINEL Data Exchange S/5 New Features in SENTINEL Print Pack S/5 Web Manager: This new tl allws administratin and cntrl ver yur SENTINEL servers frm virtually any web brwser. The serverside cmpnent must be installed n a Windws PC that runs Micrsft Internet Infrmatin Server (IIS). This PC can be separate frm yur SENTINEL server. The Web Manager applicatin can then administrate a pl f SENTINEL servers. Frm any PC, regardless f OS, the Web Manager client is able t: - Create/Delete sentinels - Cnfigure sentinels - Start/Stp sentinels - Cntrl the status f sentinels IDEAM Plug-in: Mapper: This new input plug-in allws yu t cnnect the TEKLYNX IDEAM Data Cllectin Server t the SENTINEL Server. Wrking as a real bridge between the data cllectin netwrk and the label printing netwrk, the plug-in enables the SENTINEL Server t prcess data cllected frm prtable devices. Fr example yu culd print bar cde labels using the cllected data, perfrm transactins with a database (update, delete, call a stred prcedure), r call a web service functin. The Mapper nw has native supprt fr XML data files. This new feature widely extends the integratin capabilities f the SENTINEL server in an existing envirnment since XML is a SENTINEL Print Pack S/5 v5.01 with LABELVIEW 8.01 Release Ntes 2

3 cmmn frmat fr exchanging infrmatin between applicatins. When yu select this type f structure in the Mapper, the display mde f the wrking file changes t a tree view. This view is a mre accurate depictin f the hierarchical structure f XML files, helping file analysis and thereby simplifying the Mapping activity. plug-in: The plug-in has been extended s yu can nw define an address fr the sender as well as its user accunt and passwrd n the server. This allws the plug-in t cmmunicate with servers that require authenticatin. It als helps detect cmmunicatin issues between the server and the recipient as the sender can receive delivery reprts. The plug-in supprts these prtcls: PLAIN: user and passwrd are sent as plain text LOGIN: Base 64 encryptin mechanism CRAM MD5: standard encryptin mechanism New Features in SENTINEL Data Exchange S/5 The SENTINEL S/5 Data Exchange editin adds new input and prcess plug-ins aimed at cnnecting the bar cde identificatin system t ERP/WMS system. Web Server plug-in - This new input plug-in cllects data in a web frm prvided by a Web Applicatin and can prcess the data using any SENTINEL prcess plug-in. Data received can be used t update a database, call a web service ver an intranet r print labels. This plug-in can als receive data frm any Micrsft.NET r J2EE applicatin since it is accessible as a web service. Database plug-in - This prcess plug-in allws yu t prcess data received by any input plug-in in rder t update, insert r delete recrds in ne r multiple databases, and/r call stred prcedures defined in a database. Web Service Client plug-in - This prcess plug-in enables a sentinel t call ne r mre web service functins prviding filtered data received by an input plug-in as parameter. 4 Installatin & Upgrade Infrmatin The Micrsft Data Access Cmpnent versin 2.8 is required n yur system in rder fr SENTINEL S/5 t wrk. In rder t install versin 2.8 yu need t have versin 2.5 f the MDAC installed n yur system. The English versin f thse tw cmpnents is prvided n the SENTINEL CD. If yu prefer t install the MDAC cmpnent in yur lcal language yu need t install these cmpnents first thrugh Windws Update. Yu als need t install Micrsft.Net Framewrk versin 1.1. Again, the English versin f this cmpnent can be fund n yur install CD. If yu prefer t install the.net Framewrk in yur lcal language yu can d s thrugh Windws Update. As f this versin, t simplify prduct upgrades, the LABELVIEW print engine is n lnger installed with the prduct. As a cnsequence, if yu wish t use the label printing feature f the prduct, yu will have t install LABELVIEW separately. In rder t upgrade an lder Sentinel Print Pack installatin, please fllw this prcedure: 1. If yu have a Sentinel S/4 versin 4.1 installed, first d a backup f the sentinel.xml file that is lcated in the Sentinel directry. An issue was fund in this versin s that this cnfiguratin file was remved when the applicatin was uninstalled. 2. Uninstall yur ld versin f Sentinel Print Pack. 3. Install the Sentinel S/5 versin. 4. Install LABELVIEW Cpy either the sentinel.ini r sentinel.xml file f the previus installatin int the new Sentinel directry. 6. Cpy all the xml files lcated in the <plug-ins> subdirectry f the previus installatin (nly cncerns S/4 versins) int the <plugins> subdirectry f Sentinel S/5. 7. Cpy the ld label.ini file f the LABELVIEW print engine (lcated in a subdirectry f the ld Sentinel install) int the subdirectry f LABELVIEW SENTINEL Print Pack S/5 v5.01 with LABELVIEW 8.01 Release Ntes 4

5 Knwn Issues At this time, 2D bar cde supprt is limited t PDF 417 and MaxiCde. If a label created in the LABELVIEW sftware cntains paragraph fields with a When Printed data surce, thse fields will nt appear when attempting t view a preview f the label frm within the Mapper (nte that althugh these fields d nt appear in the Mapper preview, they d print crrectly). When trying t install printer drivers n Windws Server 2003, the fllwing errr appears: "Errr Cde = The printer driver is nt cmpatible with a plicy enabled n yur cmputer that blcks NT 4.0 drivers." T crrect this issue: 1. In Windws, click Start, click Run, and then type gpedit.msc and press ENTER. The Grup Plicy dialg bx appears. 2. Brwse t the Cmputer Cnfiguratin\Administrative Templates\Printers flder. 3. Right-click n the "Disallw installatin f printers using kernel-mde drivers" setting, and then click Prperties. 4.
