(John 1:14) Eastminster Presbyterian is a church that seeks to follow Jesus in all that we do. Founded and established in the busy suburbs of Atlanta, we have known from the beginning that God has placed us here to serve as His beacon to our community, our city, and our world. Throughout our years of ministry, God has continued to build within us a foundation of vibrant and growing worship, youth ministry, Christian education, missions and fellowship programs. Today, we re a Christ-filled community of believers seeking the individual whom God has called to lead us as our Senior Pastor/Head of Staff.

2 Our Next Pastor Our next pastor will join in our mission, shepherding our congregation through scriptural teaching, Godly leadership and faithful service. The Senior Pastor God has prepared for Eastminster will: Continuously lead our congregation towards a closer walk with God, supporting our journey from participation to discipleship. Passionately open and preach the Word of God from the pulpit using the same sermon in both contemporary and traditional styles of worship. Consistently draw on an extensive study of Scripture and help the congregation learn how to apply God s Word in our daily lives. Teach a Pastor s Bible study which guides participants through an in-depth look at God s word. Engage with prospective new members through a quarterly Starting Points class. Model the ability to courageously stand on scriptural principles while demonstrating humility rooted in the conviction that we are all sinners saved by grace and called to a personal relationship with Christ. Pray with and for our elders and deacons and skillfully lead these teams as they manage the essential functions of our church s ministries. Prepare and lead our elders and deacons through a yearly leadership retreat. Work side-by-side with our dedicated, cohesive staff to nourish and strengthen them so that as a team Eastminster is building ministries that reflect the love of Christ and point others towards Him. Guide our congregation in ways of reaching out to the communities around us as we seek to share Christ s light beyond our walls.

3 Who We Are A multi-generational church of 600+ covenant partners with an average Sunday attendance of 390 worshippers united in gratitude for the tremendous growth of our programs and facilities over the last few years. A church in which whole families have come to know the Lord and hundreds of congregants are now drawing closer to God. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:4-5) A church that gathers for Christ-centered worship in contemporary and traditional styles, through which we have come to see that there are many ways to lift up our voices and instruments in thanksgiving and praise. A church that regularly sends mission teams to Kenya, Costa Rica, Egypt and West Virginia and has sent youth mission teams to Jamaica, New Orleans, New York and Tennessee. A church with a burgeoning music ministry that spans adult and youth choirs, a contemporary praise team, a bell choir and a children s choir. A church with a vibrant youth program which has doubled in size in the last three years. A church that offers multiple adult Christian Education classes and has more than half of its worshipping members involved in a Sunday school class, a small group or both. A church that has been financially blessed and now benefits from an operating budget of more than $1,000,000. A church with members actively involved in planting a new ECO church in a neighboring suburb. A church that came together to develop a three-year strategic plan that maps out where we feel God is leading us as we approach the year A church that operates and supports a Christian preschool serving 100 students from our community. A church in which 80 volunteers were honored to serve 150 children at VBS in A church with active and energetic senior members who participate along with our families and youth in work projects, mission programs, and outreach events such as our Fall Festival. A church with many outreach ministries geared to Atlanta-area populations in need of Christ s love. Our next pastor will challenge our congregation to reach further and dig deeper in exploring and expressing our faith through the many ministries God has established at Eastminster.

4 How We Work they followed Jesus. (John 1:37) We joyfully work together: growing, serving and leading. We are led by a Session of 16 elders. Our congregation is also served by nine deacons and three trustees. We are blessed with a robust full-time staff which is committed to listening to Jesus and to furthering His mission through the work of Eastminster. They include: one Associate Pastor (in charge of Youth), a Director of Christian Education, a Director of Worship and Music, a Financial Administrator/ Assistant to the Senior Pastor, an Administrative Assistant, and a pre-school director. In addition, we have an Assistant Pastor, a committed Lay Pastor for Visitation, and a Lay Minister all of whom assist as needed. We rely on countless volunteers to serve as the hands and feet of Christ on our campus and in our community. We pray over our children, our youth, our missions, our leaders, our meetings, our staff, our services and our buildings -- that God would use and grow them to bring Him glory. We strive to listen to Jesus before we act, talk, debate or move forward with our plans. We listen and wait for His Spirit to guide us. Our next pastor will lead our officers, staff and volunteers in Christian service, encouraging them in prayer and the Word as we work together to implement God s plans for Eastminster.

5 What We Believe In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1) Our mission is to bring people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as He is revealed through the Scriptures and the Power of the Holy Spirit. Eastminster has been a leader within the ECO denomination since July We have consistently reaffirmed our longstanding adherence to scriptural standards, the Trinity, and the Reformed tradition. Our next pastor will join us in affirming in full the Essential Tenets set forth by ECO as well as the Core Values that define Eastminster. We value the Lordship of Jesus Christ as head of our church. We value Praise and Worship where we experience the presence of God through Word and Sacrament. We value prayer and Bible-centered teaching. We value genuineness in our relationships with one another. We value missions and evangelism as ways of reaching out and drawing others into relationship with Christ. We value family, fellowship and the care of one another as ways of being the church together. We desire to be a discerning church that understands it is Not by power or by might but by the Holy Spirit that God s work on earth is done (Zechariah 4:6).

6 Where We Are Headed I am the voice of one calling in the desert, Make straight the way of the Lord. (John 1:23) We are excited and growing and learning what it means to be an outpost of faith for Jesus. We have seen the power of God s grace at work in us when we abide in Him and embrace His purposes rather than seeking our own plans. We look ahead with great expectation toward God s plan as He continues to use Eastminster as a beacon to our community, Atlanta and the world. We realize that these next steps may include challenges. Our next pastor will be ready to face these challenges with us and will continually seek Jesus as we discern His will for His church at Eastminster. These challenges may include: Continued growth in all ministry areas and a renewed focus on creating programs that are intentionally geared towards discipleship Recruiting volunteers and training them to be ministry leaders The competition for our congregants time in an affluent, extremely busy area Faithfully aligning our mission and budget in keeping with God s calling for this church Realignment and expansion of staff and expansion of facilities as we continue to grow The continued challenge of navigating a multigenerational church with two distinct worship services in a way that draws us together as one congregation Keeping the focus of our congregation on Jesus within a culture that increasingly pushes us to seek worldly success We know that God is preparing the heart of a Senior Pastor to come alongside of us at Eastminster as we walk forward and continue to seek Jesus.
