1 Edmonton Catholic Schools is now accepting applications for the position of Director, Financial Services (New position) Edmonton Catholic Schools is a large urban school district whose mission is to provide a Catholic education that inspires students to learn and that prepares them to live fully and to serve God in one another. The District is comprised of over 40,000 students and 3,500 employees in 89 schools and other sites. The primary focus of the job is to provide leadership in financial administration services throughout the district. The district budget is $466 million. The job is responsible for the delivery of financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury function, strategic planning, financial information technology, capital assets, and capital project funding through a team of management, professional and support staff. The incumbent will participate on the department s management team and provide expertise to the District Strategic Leadership Council. As an integral part of leadership within a large Catholic organization, the incumbent must be a practicing Catholic. The successful candidate will also have extensive experience in an executive management role. Note: As part of a succession plan, the Director, Financial Services will work in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to learn the business operations and acquire a thorough knowledge of all financial activities and operational strategies for the district. The job has full supervisory responsibilities for the Manager, Financial, Manager, Purchasing Services and the Business Manager, Capital Projects. The job indirectly manages teams of professional and support staff members. The incumbent participates on the department s management team and provides expertise to the District Strategic Leadership Council. Oversee the delivery of Purchasing Services to ensure cost effective, quality goods and services are provided in compliance with district policy, federal agreements and legislation to meet the needs of district programs 10. Participate with other department and district staff, in changing, developing and implementing policies, procedures, controls, and other initiatives to address recommendations of the external auditor 11. Determine staff fixed costs for certificated and classified employees and monitor these costs on a regular basis 12. Lead the management team in planning and coordinating processes and initiatives to ensure the department and district staff are provided with instructions, guidance, and support required for short- and long- term budgeting, and current year revenue/expenditure forecasting. 13.
