2 GREENE COUNTY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS Following are descriptions of scholarships offered by the Greene County Foundation through a competitive application process. To be eligible for a Greene County Foundation scholarship you must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien (Green Card holder). Helen Hunter Scholarships Scholarship is open to graduates of any Greene County, Indiana high school, as well as those who were home schooled. You must be enrolled for the upcoming fall semester at a college or university in Indiana. Four scholarships targeted at nontraditional and upper level college students will be awarded in an effort to financially support students in completing their college education. The scholarship can only be used for books and/or tuition for the upcoming academic year. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Junior/Senior - Students must be enrolled as a Junior or Senior at an Indiana College or University for the upcoming fall semester. Graduate Students - must be accepted in a graduate school program at an Indiana college or university and enrolled for the upcoming fall semester. Non-Traditional Adults 25 years old or older who has been out of the college system for two years or more and is returning to college, or a student who has been out of high school for five years or more and is just starting college and are enrolled for the upcoming fall semester. APPLICATION INFORMATION The following must be returned to the Greene County Foundation by application deadline: Refer to instructions Page 3. For Upper Level or Graduate Students: One copy of college transcript including GPA One letter of recommendation from a College instructor. An essay outlining your current career plans and college course work that directly impacts your choice of major and career plans. For First Year Non Traditional Students - A copy of your college acceptance letter An essay that outlines why a college education is important to you at this time. A timeline indicating when you graduated high school and what you have been doing prior to your return to school Non-Traditional Students DO NOT need to submit a recommendation letter or a transcript. 3 INSTRUCTIONS Listed below are instructions for applying for Greene County Foundation scholarships. Please read them carefully before filling out your application. SCHOLARSHIP COVER PAGE AND APPLICATION Submit a single Application page for each scholarship application packet. Complete the application in its entirety. Do not include résumés with your application. Type or print legibly in ink on all application materials. All pages should be single-sided sheets. (Information on the backsides of pages will not be considered) You are responsible for submitting a total of ten (10) complete copies of your packet. A packet consists of: application, essay, college/university acceptance letter (non-traditional only), a recommendation letter (not applicable to Non-Traditional) and official transcript (not applicable to non-traditional). Legible copies of official transcript are acceptable. Please put packet is the above order. Application page must be completed in its entirety. ESSAY A written essay on 8 ½ x 11 inch paper, in a vertical format that is at least one page long, but not longer than two typed double-spaced pages. RECOMMENDATION FORM Make sure that the person(s) writing your recommendation(s) fills out the Scholarship Recommendation Form and includes it with the letter of recommendation. You may make as many copies of the form as are needed. Explain to the person(s) writing your recommendation(s) that he/she can either forward their recommendation directly to the Greene County Foundation or return it to you to submit with your application. Only one (1) recommendation per applicant. (Not applicable for Non-Traditional Students) MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION Use only paper clips or clamps to attach your application materials to each other. All pages should be single-sided. (Information on the backsides of pages will not be considered) You are responsible for submitting a total of ten (10) complete packets. Do not use staples or binders. Your completed applications and attachments must be to the Greene County Foundation at the address listed below by due date.
