Company Overview The RiverRidge Group is regarded as Northern Ireland s largest independent waste management organisation. Since the acquisition of a small skip hire business in 2011, the group has developed on the back of five clear principles: 1. Provision of reliable, transparent and accountable waste management services that meets our clients needs today and into the future. 2. Investment in infrastructure and technology to ensure the services offered are cutting edge and are comparable to leading waste management services offered throughout Europe. 3. Development of our most important resource, people, into a cohesive and responsive team. We also strive to ensure that their working environment on a day to day basis is challenging but rewarding. 4. Recognition of our role and presence in the communities we live and work in, and incorporate this ethos into our various Corporate and Social Responsibility programmes. 5. Continuously challenging ourselves in the pursuit of a sustainable business model and as part of this ensuring each and every business decision the group makes reduces the negative impact on our environment.
Throughout all waste management service options, our customers can expect: 1. A Reliable and Responsive Collection Service: We offer a bespoke waste collection and transport services incorporating a full array of waste collection equipment and techniques. 3. Dependable and Helpful People: On hand at all times is a multi-disciplined team of experienced staff who are there to support our customers waste management needs. 2. An Environmentally Friendly Treatment Process: We treat a variety of waste types through two state of the art Material Recycling Facilities. Our treatment process focuses on landfill diversion and as such customers are assured that any waste received is fully treated, the recyclable composition extracted and the residual portion engineered into a quality fuel, which can be used by Power Plants to displace fossil fuels. 4. An Accountable Transparent Service: As a group we are continuously aware of the responsibilities to relevant authorities such as the N.I. Environment Agency. Dedicated teams within our group ensure that all day-to-day activities meet these stringent operating conditions. Our customers have the confidence that their waste management partner is fully accountable for every amount of waste they take delivery of and can provide a transparent audit of the journey of waste from collection to final disposal. As a Group, we manage over 300,000mt of waste annually on behalf of Local Authorities, high profile multi-site companies, SMEs and individual households. In all cases we recognise a client s individual needs and strive to tailor a solution which best suits them. Please contact our Customer Care Team on to see what we can do for you. IT S ONLY WASTE IF YOU WASTE IT!
Engineered Fuels Disposal of waste to landfill has long been regarded as the least acceptable form of waste disposal. Most businesses and households now segregate their waste at source in order to reduce the amount of waste that has to be disposed of in landfill. This residual waste stream is traditionally difficult to treat given the level of contamination. RiverRidge Recycling has invested millions of pounds to develop a treatment process that converts post-recycled residual waste into an engineered fuel. The fuel, known as Residual Derived Fuel (RDF) is then used in purpose build Power Plants as a renewable alternative to fossil fuel. RDF allows for the recovery of waste rather than the disposal of waste and is accepted as a more acceptable alternative to landfill throughout Europe.
Northern Ireland s largest Waste Management Company As Northern Ireland s largest waste management company, RiverRidge Recycling has ensured that a significant proportion of the nearly 300,000mt of waste it handles each year is diverted from landfill. The company is today the largest manufacturer and exporter of RDF and has built up a reputation of integrity and reliability with a number of Europe s leading waste to energy facilities. In addition to the export of fuels, RiverRidge Recycling has invested in the development of a Northern Ireland based wasteto-energy facility in collaboration with Bombardier Aerospace. Once constructed, the facility will further reduce the carbon footprint associated with recovery of waste. Contact our team today to learn more about how this technology will allow businesses to ensure they are pursuing a sustainable approach to waste management. Please contact our Customer Care Team on to see what we can do for you. IT S ONLY WASTE IF YOU WASTE IT!
Food Waste The New Resource Northern Ireland s households and businesses create over 100,000mt of food waste each year. Food waste is a valuable and renewable resource. In an effort to ensure we maximise this resource, new legislation is being introduced to force businesses that produce food waste to properly manage it. What s in the new legislation Under the proposals, businesses producing more than 50kg of food waste per week after March 2016 will be required to manage this waste stream separate to their general waste volumes. The requirement will be extended to other businesses producing between 5 and 50kg of food waste per week from March 2017 onwards.the intention is for food waste to be diverted from landfill either into composting sites or energy recovery facilities.
How RiverRidge can help RiverRidge Recycling offers a food waste management service which starts with advice on how to effectively separate food waste and finish with the collection and disposal of this food waste to some of Northern Ireland s leading In Vessel Composting and Anaerobic Digestion facilities. Collection of food waste from all sizes of businesses is made using a variety of containers including wheelie bins and large waste compactor units. RiverRidge Recycling manages food waste services for a number of large food manufacturing and retail businesses across Northern Ireland. We have always pursued a zero to landfill policy with food waste and are continually investigating new and more efficient landfill diversion strategies. Please contact our Customer Care Team on to see what we can do for you. IT S ONLY WASTE IF YOU WASTE IT!
Waste Audits Realising cost savings from sustainable business practices Environmental tax and new waste management legislation can cause a business s waste management costs to spiral. Many businesses have recognised this and have taken on the challenge of adopting sustainable business practices within their operations and consequently managing the level of waste they produce. The most recognised sustainable business practice, which many businesses currently employ, is source segregation of waste within the business environment. The separate disposal of recyclable materials such as cardboard and paper into separate collection containers allows a business to reduce the level of residual waste it produces and recover some value from the recyclables to generate. There are many more solutions, which help businesses reduce their waste management costs and which promote sustainable business behaviours.
Support your sustainable programme RiverRidge Recycling has developed a number of sustainable techniques and principles, which can support businesses looking to either embark on a sustainable business programme or to take their existing programme to a new level. Our experienced team of client managers have worked with a diverse range of business types and are able to develop waste management solutions that are appropriate to any business sector. A RiverRidge Recycling Client Manager is on hand to audit your business s current waste management process and where possible recommend a more efficient and cost effective solution. Please contact our Customer Care Team on to see what we can do for you. IT S ONLY WASTE IF YOU WASTE IT!
