This job aid describes the procedures required to repace an Avaya S8400 Server (TN8400AP circuit pack), Materia ID Before you begin Shutdown the server Remove the hard drive Remove soid state drive Repace the server Disabe the boot timer Remaster the hard drive Before you begin Before repacing the Avaya S8400 Server you must have the foowing: S8400 MS (repacement Avaya S8400 Server, Materia ID ) #1 cross-point (Phiips) screwdriver Antistatic wrist strap Antistatic mat ELECTROSTATIC ALERT: ELECTROSTATIC ALERT: Wear the antistatic wrist strap whenever you are touching any part of the Avaya S8400 Server. After removing the hard drive or the server, pace it carefuy on the antistatic mat. Both the antistatic wrist strap and the antistatic mat shoud be connected to a common ground Issue 3 January

Perform a compete server backup to the LAN or to the transations Compact Fash card (front sot of the Avaya S8400 Server). 2. 10 4GB Job Aid: Repacing the Avaya S8400 Server The Avaya S8400 Server has a cabe adapter attached at the rear of the carrier. Leave this adapter and its cabe connections in pace during the entire repacement procedure. Remove the hard drive The Avaya S8400 Server has a hard drive that you can remove and re-insta on the repacement Avaya S8400 Server. To remove the hard drive on the Avaya S8400 Server: 1. Note the position of the back identifying strip on the ribbon cabe as shown in Figure 2: Removing the ribbon cabe from the hard drive on page 10. 12 Job Aid: Repacing the Avaya S8400 Server Remove soid state drive The soid state drive is a Compact Fash card with Avaya Communication Manager and associated fies on it. You can remove this Compact Fash card from the od Avaya S8400 Server and re-use it on the repacement Avaya S8400 Server.! CAUTION: CAUTION: Do not confuse the soid state drive Compact Fash card that resides internay on the circuit pack with the Compact Fash card containing transations that you insert on the front pane. Do not interchange the two cards. 1. Lift the retainer cip and remove the Compact Fash card from the soid state drive connector as shown in Figure 4: Removing the soid state drive from the Avaya S8400 Server on page 12. 13 Repace the server Repace the server To repace the Avaya S8400 Server: 1. Carefuy remove the repacement Avaya S8400 Server from its protective antistatic packaging and pace it on the antistatic mat. 2. Repace the soid state drive (Compact Fash with Avaya Communication manager) that you removed earier into the soid state drive connector (Note 1 in Figure 4: Removing the soid state drive from the Avaya S8400 Server on page 12) and secure the retainer cip.! CAUTION: CAUTION: Ensure that you repace the correct Compact Fash card in the correct connector. Do not pace the Compact Fash card with transations in the soid state drive connector. 3. If you are re-using the origina hard drive: a. Remove the hard drive from the new Avaya S8400 Server by competing the section tited Remove the hard drive on page 10. b. Mount the origina hard drive on the new Avaya S8400 Server by positioning the standoffs on the hard drive. c. Attach the ribbon cabe to the hard drive (see Figure 3: Removing the hard drive from the Avaya S8400 Server on page 11). d. Attach the remaining end of the ribbon cabe to the circuit pack (connector P2401). e. Leaving the standoffs in pace, fip the hard drive over and mount it to the circuit pack using the four (4) mounting screws (see Figure 3: Removing the hard drive from the Avaya S8400 Server on page 11). 4. If you are re-using the Compact Fash card with transations on it: a. Remove the new card from the sot on the front facepate of the circuit pack (Note 4 in Figure 1: Avaya S8400 front facepate on page 9). b. Repace the od card in the sot on the front facepate of the circuit pack. If you are using the new card, eave the Compact Fash card in the sot on the front facepate of the circuit pack. 5. Insert the circuit pack into the carrier sot, side it a the way into the carrier, and atch the circuit pack in pace. 6. Power up the carrier if you removed power earier. 7. Wait unti the server boots up and the red circuit pack faiure LED (Note 5 in Figure 1: Avaya S8400 front facepate on page 9) is off Issue 3 January

14 Job Aid: Repacing the Avaya S8400 Server Disabe the boot timer Athough one of the MPC boot timer s primary functions is to monitor the reboot/boot, you shoud disabe this function whenever you are remastering the hard drive and/or reoading the soid state drive (SSD) on the S8400 server. Disabing the boot timer greaty increases the remastering reiabiity and decreases the time required. To disabe the boot timer through the MPC Web interface: 1. Connect the services aptop computer to the Services Port on the front pane of the S8400 server. 2. From a command window type arp -d and press Enter. 3. Open a browser window and type in the Address fied. This is the address for the MPC Web pages, not the Communication Manager Web pages. Aso ensure that the URL is https. 4. Log in as craft. 5. At the Avaya TN8400 Home window seect the System Bade ink. The System Bade / Overa Heath page dispays. 6. In the System Contros section at the bottom of the page, cick on the Boot protection fied. 7. 15 Remaster the hard drive Remaster the hard drive To remaster the hard drive on the Avaya S8400 Server: 1. If you are using the new hard drive, remaster it (which aso remasters the SSD) and re-insta Communication Manager from the origina CD using the USB CD/DVD reader. For more information on how to perform these procedures see Instaing and Configuring the Avaya S8400 Server, After the remastering process is competed, Communication Manager reboots and sends the MPC a new set of configuration data which automaticay re-enabes the MPC boot timer Issue 3 January

This job aid describes the procedures required to repace the Avaya S8400 Server (TN8400AP circuit pack) hard drive (Materia code ): Hard drive faiure Before you begin Shutdown the server Remove the hard drive Repace the hard drive Reseat the server in the carrier Disabe the boot timer Remaster the hard drive Once the new hard disk drive (HDD) is instaed you must remaster it, which aso remasters the soid state drive (SSD) at the same time. Hard drive faiure The Avaya S8400 Server (TN8400AP circuit pack) runs Avaya Communication Manager software party on the SDD and party on the HDD: Critica Communication Manager appication fies and transations are on the SSD. Messaging appication, ogging, and other ess-critica fies are on the HDD. If the hard drive fais, some functions are preserved, some are not. Functions preserved when the hard drive fais When the Avaya S8400 Server hard drive fais the system preserves the foowing functions: Issue 3 January

Leave the Compact Fash card with transations in the sot (Note 4 in Figure 5). The Avaya S8400 Server has a cabe adapter attached at the rear of the carrier. Note the position of the back identifying stripe on the ribbon cabe then remove the cabe connection to the circuit pack from the connector marked P2401 on the circuit pack as shown in Figure 6. Insta the four standoffs and mount the hard drive on the new Avaya S8400 Server. 3. Reseat the server in the carrier To repace the Avaya S8400 Server: 1. Ensure that the Compact Fash card with transations on it is firmy seated in the sot on the front facepate (Note 4 in Figure 5: Avaya S8400 front facepate on page 19). 2. Insert the circuit pack into the carrier sot, side it a the way into the carrier, and atch the circuit pack in pace. 3. Power up the carrier if you removed power earier. 4. Wait unti the server boots up and the red circuit pack faiure LED (Note 5 in Figure 5: Avaya S8400 front facepate on page 19) is off. Leave this adapter and its cabe connections in pace during the entire repacement procedure. Remove the SIPI To remove the TN8412AP S8400 IP Interface (SIPI) circuit pack: 1. Reease the atch that secures the TN8412AP S8400 IP Interface (SIPI) circuit pack. 2. Pu the TN8412AP S8400 IP Interface (SIPI) circuit pack straight out of the sot and free of the carrier. Important:! Important: Remember which sot that the TN8412AP circuit pack was ocated. The SIPI ocation configuration is different depending on the carrier in which it resides. Repace the SIPI To repace the TN8412AP S8400 IP Interface (SIPI) circuit pack: 1. Aign the TN8412AP S8400 IP Interface (SIPI) circuit pack in its sot and push in unti it connects with the backpane. 2. Latch the circuit pack in pace. 3. Wait unti the server boots up and the red circuit pack faiure LED (Note 5 in Figure 8: Avaya S8400 front facepate on page 26) is off Issue 3 January

28 Job Aid: Repacing the server interface circuit pack in the Avaya S8400 Server configuration Assigning IP address to the SIPI circuit pack The TN8412 IP server interface (SIPI) circuit pack gets IP addresses through static IP addressing. This section contains topics that administer the SIPI s IP address: Cearing the ARP cache on the aptop on page 28 Logging into the SIPI on page 29 Setting the contro interface on page 29 Resetting the SIPI on page 30 Verifying SIPI transations on page 31 Verifying SIPI connectivity on page 31 Important:! Important: Ensure that you have the SIPI password before proceeding. Cearing the ARP cache on the aptop Depending on the operating system on your aptop computer, you might need to cear the Address Resoution Protoco (ARP) cache before you enter a new IP address. If you enter an IP address and your computer cannot connect, you might need to cear the cache. To cear the ARP cache on the aptop: 1. Cick Start > Run to open the Run diaog box. 2. To open a MS-DOS command ine window, type command and press Enter. 3. Type arp -d and press Enter. This command produces one of the foowing responses: The command ine prompt when the cache is ceared. The message: The specified entry was not found when the specified IP address does not currenty appear in the ARP cache. 4. To access the server, type ping -t The -t causes the ping to repeat unti you get a response. When you get a response, in about 3 minutes, wait an additiona 30 seconds before proceeding to the Web interface. 5. To stop the ping, type ctr c. 6. 29 Assigning IP address to the SIPI circuit pack Logging into the SIPI To connect to the SIPI using the Secure She (SSH) protoco through a secure cient ike PuTTY: 1. Resetting the SIPI To reset the SIPI, perform the foowing steps: 1. Type reset and press Enter Answer Y to the warning. Resetting the SIPI terminates the administration session. If further administration is required, start a new session to the SIPI. Contro network settings (IP address, subnet mask, and gateway) become effective when you exit the IPADMIN session. 2. Disconnect the aptop from the facepate. 3. Check the LCD to verify that it has an "I P" with a fied-in "V" that shows at the bottom that indicates that the IP address has been administered. Cear the ARP cache on the aptop before connecting to another SIPI. If the cache is not ceared, the aptop appears to stop and does not connect to the next SIPI. Required parts and equipment Before repacing the Avaya S8400 Server you must have the foowing: Repacement 2GB Compact Fash card kit Antistatic wrist strap Antistatic mat ELECTROSTATIC ALERT: ELECTROSTATIC ALERT: Wear the antistatic wrist strap whenever you are touching any part of the Avaya S8400 Server. After you repace the faied Compact Fash card on the Avaya S8400 Server, you must remaster it using the customer s CD. CAUTION:! CAUTION: Do not confuse the soid state drive Compact Fash card that resides internay on the circuit pack (that is, the card that you are repacing) with the Compact Fash card containing transations that you insert on the front pane. Do not interchange the two cards. 1. CAUTION: CAUTION: Ensure that you repace the correct Compact Fash card in the correct connector. Do not pace the Compact Fash card with transations in the soid state drive connector. Reseat the server in the carrier To repace the Avaya S8400 Server in its carrier: 1. Pace the customer s unity CD in the USB CD/DVD reader connected to the USB port on the front facepate of the Avaya S8400 Server (Note 2 in Figure 9: Avaya S8400 front facepate on page 9). 2. Ensure that the Compact Fash card with transations on it is firmy seated in the sot on the front facepate (Note 3 in Figure 9: Avaya S8400 front facepate on page 9). 3. Insert the Avaya S8400 Server (TN8400AP circuit pack) into the carrier sot, side it a the way into the carrier, and atch the circuit pack in pace (Note 7 in Figure 9: Avaya S8400 front facepate on page 9). 4. Wait unti the server boots up and the red circuit pack faiure LED (Note 1 in Figure 9: Avaya S8400 front facepate on page 9) is off. To disabe the boot timer through the MPC Web interface: 1. Connect the services aptop computer to the Services Port on the front pane of the S8400 server (Note 6 in Figure 9: Avaya S8400 front facepate on page 9). 2. From a command window type arp -d and press Enter. 3. Open a browser window and type in the Address fied. This is the address for the MPC Web pages, not the Communication Manager Web pages. Aso ensure that the URL is https. 4. Log in as craft. The password for this ogin remains the same as it was prior to repacing the soid state drive (Compact Fash card). 5. At the Avaya TN8400 Home window seect the System Bade ink. The System Bade / Overa Heath page dispays. 6. In the System Contros section at the bottom of the page, seect 0: Boot timer Disabed and then cick on the Set Contro. 7. Verify that the boot timer is disabed by seecting the Power Reset ink and noting that the current status of the boot timer is disabed. 8. Cose your browser to exit the MPC Web pages. If you reseat the Avaya S8400 Server (TN8400AP circuit pack) in the carrier again for any reason, the server reboots and the MPC boot timer re-enabes. Re-insta Communication Manager and INTUITY AUDIX Re-instaing Communication Manager aso remasters the soid state drive (Compact Fash card). To re-insta Communication Manager on the Avaya S8400 Server: 1. Cick Start > Run to open the Run diaog box. 2. Type tenet and press Enter. The first RP screen appears Issue 3 January

If the DVD/CD drive was not attached to a USB port when the S8400 booted, you wi not see any activity on the screen. In this case, perform the foowing steps: - Press the Shut Down button on the S8400 Server. - When the OK-to-remove ight comes on, connect the DVD/CD-ROM drive to a USB port and reseat the S8400 in its sot. 3. When the S8400 Server is ready to reboot, the CD drive tray opens and the foowing screen fashes for about 5 seconds. The reboot takes 1 3 minutes without the IA770 appication and 3-6 minutes if the IA770 is present. 6. Cick Start > Run to open the Run diaog box on your aptop. 7. Type ping -t and press Enter. 8. Verify that the S8400 Server is running the Communication Manager reease that matches the customer s unity CD. 4. Verify that the DVD/CD-ROM drive tray opened. Remove the customer s unity CD and disconnect the DVD/CD-ROM drive from the S8400 USB port. Set the time, date, and time zone To set the time, date, and Time Zone: 1. Starting with reease 2.1, ony Engish anguage fies (us-eng and us-tdd) are incuded with the Communication Manager software. Before reease 2.1, Latin American Spanish and Canadian French (at-span and french-c) were aso incuded. To determine other anguages CAUTION:! CAUTION: If an announcement package appears on the Web page that foows, that package must be present after the upgrade and before you restart messaging. Configure network parameters You must have the host name, subnet mask, and IP address of the S8400, and the IP address of the defaut gateway to compete this procedure. You must configure the network parameters on the S8400 before restoring the backup fies. To configure network parameters 1. Under Server Configuration cick Configure Server to start the configure server process. 2. Cick Continue through the Review and Backup Notices to get to the Specify how you want to use this wizard screen. Specify how you want to use this wizard screen 3. Seect Configure individua services and cick Continue. 4. Cick Set Identities from the Configure Individua IP Services ist on the eft. The Set Identities screen appears. 5. 59 Verify connectivity Configure Server 7. Ensure that the correct server IP address, Gateway, Subnet mask, and, if IA770 was instaed, the Integrated Messaging IP address are a correct. If these fieds are aready fied in with incorrect information, overwrite the fied with the correct information. Cick Change to update the system fies. If an Action Canceed message appears before the success message, refresh the screen and cick Change again. 8. When the configuration change is compete, the screen dispays Successfuy configured ethernet interfaces. Cick Cose Window. The system resets the IP interfaces. Verify connectivity To verify that the Ethernet port is working, ping the FTP server where the backup fie(s) are stored: 1. On the Maintenance Web Interface, under Diagnostics cick Ping. 2. Enter the IP address where the backup fies are stored. 3. Cick Execute Ping. If the ping is successfu, continue with restoring the system fies. Otherwise, check the IP address and connectivity to the server Issue 3 January

The fu backup contains the system, security, and transations backup data. It does not incude IA770 INTUITY AUDIX data which you wi restore ater. The time and date are embedded in the fie name. Seect the backup set with the date and time stamp that corresponds with the backup that you performed before repacing the soid state drive (Compact Fash Card). 5. Depending upon whether the administered server names match or whether the Communication Manager software versions before and after the Compact Fash repacement seect: Force restore if server name mismatch if the administered server names do not match (check this option; for this repacement procedure the names do not match). Force restore if backup version mismatch if the Communication Manager software version before and after the Compact Fash repacement are different. 6. Cick the Restore button. The View/Restore Data Resuts page appears 7. To monitor the restore progress: Issue 3 January
