5 Matt. 23:38, See! Your house is left to you desolate;
6 Matt. 24:2, And Jesus said to them, Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
7 1. What is the significance of the Temple? The fulfillment of this prophecy validates the certainty of the distant prophecies.
8 2. The reason for the divine judgment on the nation.
9 a. The ultimate judgment Lev. 26:30, I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, and cast your carcasses on the lifeless forms of your idols; and My soul shall abhor you. Lev. 26:31, I will lay your cities waste and bring your sanctuaries to desolation, and I will not smell the fragrance of your sweet aromas.
10 a. The ultimate judgment Lev. 26:32, I will bring the land to desolation, and your enemies who dwell in it shall be astonished at it. Lev. 26:33, I will scatter you among the nations and draw out a sword after you; your land shall be desolate and your cities waste.

13 Matt. 24:3, Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?
14 Matt. 24:3, Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, Tell us, (1) when will these things be? And (2) what will be the sign of Your coming, and the end of the age? Mark 13:3, Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately, Mark 13:4, Tell us, (1) when will these things be? (2) And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?
15 Matt. 24:3, Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, Tell us, (1) when will these things be? And (2) what will be the sign of Your coming, and end of the age? Sign (singular noun) refers to Your coming and end of the age.
16 Matt. 24:30, Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
17 Of these two questions, Matthew and Mark answer the second, Luke answers the first as well, Luke 21:20 24; he adds the answer to the second in Luke 21:25 36.
18 1. Jesus is talking to them as Jews about Jewish prophecy. 2. The Olivet Discourse is the last thing Jesus said to the Jews about Israel. 3. Nothing in the Olivet Discourse is about Church Age believers or has direct application to Church Age believers.

20 Three Views Preterism: Most prophecy including all of Matt. 24 and Rev was fulfilled in AD 70. Historicism: Most prophecy including all of Matt. 24 and Rev is being fulfilled in the inter-advent age, between the two comings. Thus we can point to some contemporary events as fulfillments of these prophecies. Futurism: Most prophecy including all of Matt. 24 and Rev will be fulfilled in the future. We hold to dispensational futurism.

And at that time your people shall be delivered, every one who is found written in the book.
28 Zech. 14:1, Behold, the day of the LORD is coming, and your spoil will be divided in your midst. Zech. 14:2, For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; the city shall be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
29 Zech. 14:3, Then the LORD will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle. Zech. 14:4, And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley; half of the mountain shall move toward the north and half of it toward the south.

31 Zech. 14:5, Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, for the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Thus the LORD my God will come, and all the saints with You. Zech. 14:6, It shall come to pass in that day that there will be no light; the lights will diminish. Zech. 14:7, It shall be one day which is known to the LORD neither day nor night. But at evening time it shall happen that it will be light.
