This site serves mostly a residential area. Lawton Park (0.19 acres in size) is located on Fort Howard Avenue. This site serves a predominantly residential area and contains a gazebo shelter and pond overlook. Rusk Park (0.75 acres in size) is located between south Clay and south Webster Street. This site serves mostly a residential area and contains a wooded picnic area and pedestrian access. Wells Park (0.80 acres in size) is located between south Broadway and Lewis Street. This site serves primarily a residential area and contains a small playground system and a picnic area. This was the first City Park. De Pere Neighborhood Parks: Braisher Park (3.13 acres in size) is located adjacent to Washington Street and Winnebago Street. Kiwanis Park (10.48 acres in size) is located on Old Ivy Court. This site serves the residential area and contains soccer field, a playground area, and a sledding hill. Lions Trailside Park (4.24 acres in size) is located on Killarny Trail. This site serves the residential area and contains a sledding hill and a wooded path. Patriot Park (5.67 acres in size) is located on Colleen Lane. De Pere Community Parks: Jim Martin Park (17.15 acres in size) is located on Libal Street. This site serves primarily a residential area and contains ball diamond, basketball court, soccer fields, playground system, picnic area, restrooms, and volleyball court. Legion Park (16.24 acres in size) is located on the corner of Charles Street and Webster Avenue. This site serves primarily a residential area and contains ball diamond, basketball court, ice skating, hockey rink, tennis courts, playgrounds, picnic area, a shelter, restrooms, concessions, volleyball court, and a swimming pool. Optimist Park (11.72 acres in size) is located on the corner of Cook Street and South Erie Street. This site serves a predominantly residential area and contains ball diamonds, basketball court, football fields, soccer field, playground system, picnic area, shelter, concessions, and restrooms. 6 VFW Park (12.85 acres in size) is located on the corner of Allard Street and Grant Street. This site serves a predominantly residential area and contains the Community Center, a ball diamond, basketball court, ice skating, hockey rink, soccer field, a sledding hill, tennis courts, playground, picnic area, shelters, restrooms, volleyball court, and a swimming pool. Community Center is located in VFW Park, 600 Grant Street. Designed in 1999, this 15,000 square foot facility includes two large activity areas accommodating 200 persons, two flexible meeting rooms, a multipurpose room, game room, and lounge area. Uses include general recreation for all ages, Brown County Nutrition meal site, community programs, and a location for business/civic meetings and social gatherings such as wedding receptions, reunions, baby/bridal showers, parties for any occasion, etc. De Pere Large Urban Parks: Southwest Park (95.55 acres in size) is located between Lawrence Drive and US Highway 41. This site serves a predominantly rural area and contains ball diamond and soccer fields, and a playground. De Pere Natural Resource Areas: East Side Nature Park (32.85 acres in size) is located south of Old Martin Road. This site serves as a future park. Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan 23
7 The Preserve (75.80 acres in size) is located between Lawrence Drive and US Highway 41. This site serves a predominantly rural area and contains a picnic area, and walking and biking trails. De Pere Special Use Parks: Bomier Boat Ramp (1.90 acres in size) is located at the west terminus of Bomier Street. This site serves the residential area and contains a picnic area, restrooms, public fishing, and a boat ramp. De Pere Dog Park (approx acres in size with 8 acres fenced in) De Pere s first off-leash dog park is located at 1400 Biotech Way. It is approximately 18 acres with 8 of them currently fenced in. The park contains a small and large dog area and a large wooded area with numerous trails running within. This park has a graveled parking lot and a water fountain for humans and dogs. Future plans include a shelter, restroom, finished parking lot and fencing in the remaining area. The East River Trail (42.33 acres in size) is located on Black Earth Drive. This site contains walking and biking trails. Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan 24
8 Fairgrounds (13.90 acres in size) is located on Fort Howard Avenue. This site serves a predominantly residential area and contains a picnic area, Ice Arena, public fishing, a shelter and the Perkofski Boat Launch. De Pere Ice Arena is located on Fort Howard Avenue. This facility includes one full sheet of ice, concession stand, meeting room, multi-purpose room, skate rental and locker rooms. Fox Point Boat Launch (4.47 acres in size) is located west of North Broadway. This site serves Northeast Wisconsin and contains restrooms, public fishing, and boat ramps. Fox River Trail (30.94 acres in size) is located adjacent to the Fox River. This site serves as a scenic walking and biking route along the Fox River. Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan 25
9 James Street Walkway (0.23 acres in size) is located between James Street and the Fox River. This site serves as a scenic rest stop along the Fox River. The Nature Center (0.85 acres in size) is located at Merrill Street and South Washington Street. This site serves a predominantly residential area and contains a picnic area and a shelter. Riverwalk & Wildlife Viewing Park (approx. 1.0 acre in size) is located next to Voyageur Park at the west terminus of Cass Street. The site provides access to fishing, the De Pere Locks and Dam, a national registered historic district, viewing of the Walleye and Sturgeon spawning runs, and wildlife and waterfowl viewing. The facility has a lift bridge that works in coordination with the De Pere Lock System, over 1000 ft. of walking trail along the Fox River, and several viewing platforms that give close viewing of various fish and wildlife. A fishing dock and viewing pier are scheduled to begin construction in October 2012 and be completed by the end of Voyageur Park (21.74 acres in size) is located at the west terminus of Cass Street. This site serves a residential area and contains a playground system, picnic area, shelters, restrooms, public fishing, walking and biking trails. De Pere Private Parks: Humana Sports Park (25.57 acres in size) is located south of the Humana Office complex. This site contains baseball fields, a basketball court, and shelter. This site serves a predominantly rural area, user groups and the Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan 26
10 private corporate campus. St. Norbert Cloud Family Fields (approx acres in size) This large St. Norbert college green space area just off 4 th street is used for soccer games, practice, and general athletic camps. St. Norbert Mel Nicks Complex (approx acres in size) is located just a few blocks south of the St. Norbert campus and includes a baseball diamond, softball diamond and practice football fields. St. Norbert Schneider Stadium (approx acres in size) The 2,454-seat Schneider Stadium houses the Green Knights in football, men s and women s soccer and men s and women s outdoor track and field. It features a 400-meter track with all-weather surface, field turf for football and soccer competition, a press box, ticket and information booths, and parking for 500 vehicles.
