Whether you re planning to walk, run or just party, we want you to have a COLORFUL blast of movement and fun. Thank you for joining us at our Houston Color In Motion 5K on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Sam Houston Race Park. We put together this memo to help you through race day so that you can enjoy a safe and incredibly colorful experience. Please take a moment to go through this information. Thank you! 2 We re proud to announce our Viva La Color! tour for 2017! This year we have kicked the party up a notch by adding some special features to our race. Racers will start off the race in their nice white shirts that will soon be plastered in color from our Mega Color Blaster. Each color station after that will have music playing to get you pumped for more color throwing! We ll also have wacky mirrors to take selfies in front of, and as you cross the finish line, you ll receive one of our awesome new race medals! After some water, runners can head over to the Color Bash, where our CIM5K DJ will be playing some sick beats and covering you in even more color with our Color Cannon. We will also have additional color packets and sweet new merchandise at our Merchandise tent, so be sure to check that out. Can t wait to see you there! Page 1

3 Packet Pickup Steel City Pops 420 E 20th St. Houston, TX Friday, February 24, PM We ll be holding Packet Pickup the day before the race on Friday, Feb 24th. Those who come to Packet Pickup will receive a $5 merchandise credit to use on our CIM5K swag. If you cannot attend Packet Pickup, you can still pick up your race packet on the morning of the race at 8 AM. We encourage everyone to come to Packet Pickup in order to avoid long lines on Race Day. What to Bring: Your race ticket with the QR code (you can print your ticket or show it on your mobile device) Extra cash or your credit card to buy some epic CIM5K gear! If you re picking up a race packet for your friends, either bring their race tickets or a signed permission slip (found at the end of this Movement Memo) saying that you can pick up their packets. Get ready for the colorfullest day of movement you ve ever had in your life! Get out and move and be healthy all while supporting Girls on the Run Greater Houston! Race Day Schedule: 8:00 AM - Race Day Packet Pickup opens 8:30 AM - Color Chasers begin to arrive 9:00 AM - Race begins* 9:30 AM - Final wave of runners starts* 10:00 AM - Color Bash 11:00 AM - Finish Time What should I bring on Race day? Color Chaser participant shirt Color Dust packet for the finish line Clean up stuff: towels, clean clothes, etc. Cash/credit card for awesome swag Bandanna Sunglasses Camera/cell phone Remember your cash and credit card. We ll have all kinds of awesome swag, and extra Color Dust packets for sale! *Runners will be sent in waves every 5-7 minutes. You are not assigned to a specific wave. For directions, visit Google Maps or Map Quest and type in the below address: Sam Houston Race Park 7575 N. Sam Houston Parkway W. Houston, TX Parking Parking will be available through Gate 6 at Sam Houston Race Park. Parking at Sam Houston Race Park is $10 per car. We encourage you to carpool or take public transportation where possible. Please be courteous to others, and watch for pedestrians in the parking lot and other areas. Remember, don t get grumpy this is supposed to be FUN! Race Cancellation/Refunds: A kind reminder that there are no refunds under any circumstances for this event. The Color in Motion 5K is a rain or shine event. Lightning, heavy rain or high winds are a couple examples of weather conditions that may result in cancellation or delay of the event. Please come prepared for weather. RACE DAY DISCLAIMER: If the race is cancelled due to weather conditions and/or an act of God or a participant is not able to participate the day of the event we regret there will be NO REFUNDS. 6 THE COLOR COMMANDMENTS and Tips Our Color Commandments help ensure safety and a great time for all! Be Courteous: Throw color on others as they would throw color on you. Be Safe: Don t do stupid stuff that puts your safety or the safety of others at risk. Avoid colorful language: Remember that this is a family-friendly event. No alcohol is allowed at Color In Motion 5K. Strollers are welcome, but please start at the back. Walkers on the right; runners on the left. Follow the cones that will be along the course. Follow directions provided by security, medical staff, race officials and volunteers. Kids MUST be accompanied by their parents at all times. HAVE FUN: Come ready to have a great time! Cleanup Tips While the Color Dust is formulated to wash out, you may end up with some colorful stains on shoes, clothes and anything you bring, so it s probably best not to wear your Sunday best. Here are some tips to help you clean up after the race: Clothing Wear your participant shirt it s designed to be colored! Shake off excess color before washing; wash your colored gear separately with cold water. Hair and Skin All you beautiful blondes out there may want to oil your hair before the race leave-in conditioner in or olive oil works well. Wear a hat or a bandanna Sunscreen and a little lip balm will do wonders for your skin cleanup after the race Buy a headband to cover your ears, sunglasses for your eyes and a bandana to cover your mouth and nose! Other stuff Same deal here: The Color Dust may not wash out of everything, so that sweet new stroller or the brand new pair of shoes may be something best left at home Don t forget wet wipes, a towel or rag. They ll help with cleanup, and you can use the towel to protect your car. Page 5
