2 Regional Promotional Information Assistance up to $5K Information and Application package Introduction Integrated Regional Clinical Training Networks have been set up in each state and territory to support and develop clinical training opportunities for the health professions. Western Australia opted for a single Clinical Training Network to service the state, and the Western Australian Clinical Training Network (WA CTN) Unit was established in 2012 to facilitate communication and networking between education facilities and health organisations, both public and private. WA CTN is hosted by the Department of Health. Funding and direction has been provided by Health Workforce Australia (HWA) and more recently by the Commonwealth Department of Health. Membership of the WA CTN is open to all stakeholders and includes representatives from universities, the vocational education and training sector, private health service providers, public health service providers, non-government organisations, Medicare Locals and private practitioners. Key goals for the WA CTN are to increase the number of available clinical placement opportunities for students to continuously improve the quality of clinical training placements In 2013 consultations were held with stakeholders from the Community of Interest to identify initiatives and opportunities to address challenges in priority areas. Rural and Remote and Aboriginal Health Service stakeholders identified a need for regions and organisations to promote their services and placement opportunities to students. It is anticipated that better promotion will increase the number of student-led requests for placement, and encourage more placement in these areas. In 2014 WA CTN will implement a range of strategies to support services to increase clinical placement opportunities. Regional Information Promotional Assistance Packages valued at up to $5,000 are available to clinical placement providers for the creation of local, innovative promotional material to attract students to placement opportunities. Priority Areas Regional Information Promotional Assistance Packages valued at up to $5,000 are available for projects that: promote student- led requests for clinical placement promote WA clinical placement opportunities to student groups.
