1 Below document contains tips and pictures for your clothing and styling selection in the modelling category. Attire (Kids) Clothing Children may wear patterns on their tops and bottoms like plaids, stripes, florals, etc. Tops and bottoms may NOT have large emblems, logos or numbers (i.e. Polo logo, football number etc.). No name brands with visible logo (i.e. Abercrombie). Stay logo free (model yourself). NO suits or business wear. Absolutely NO dressy dresses/evening wear! Cocktail, Evening Dresses are NOT allowed: This includes any with sequins, shiny materials, chiffon, sparkles, lace, velvet Nothing Dressy. Casual/Daytime only. See photo examples below for acceptable children s dresses. No tucked in dress shirts, dress pants, ties, khakis, dress shoes, suits or any business attire. Dress casually and age appropriately. Outerwear is acceptable, but may not be taken off (i.e. coat, hat, etc.) If coats or hats are removed, they become carried accessories. Accessories & Shoes Any type of shoes or boots are acceptable. But- NO dress shoes. Ballerina flats, Mary Jane s, Converse, Van or non-athletic flat is recommended. Child models (ages 12 and under) may NOT wear heels higher than 2.5cm. No carry-on accessories are allowed; Examples: purses, sunglasses, umbrellas, etc. Accessories worn when entering the stage may not be removed, as they are then considered carried accessories. Examples: jacket, hat, scarf, etc. Hair & Makeup NO Makeup on children. Translucent powder or Lip Ice (lip balm) only. NO Up do s or pageant hair. Hair should look like an everyday kid style (i.e. braids, pigtails, down & natural). Hair should be simple & unaffected. No visible hair product (i.e. crunchy gel, sprayed prom up do s, stiff sprayed hair, greasy or overly shiny). Remember to keep hair from hanging in face. Natural (up or down) is always best.
2 Stay Tasteful Child models may NOT curtsy, wink, blow a kiss, salute, wave, etc. in a pre-planned, pageant-like gimmick. Yes, children will do the darndest things. Spontaneous expressions of excitement or emotion can and will happen. However, AMTC does not allow pageant gimmicks.
