1 Asset Management Drainage Select the map from the Maps introduction page If you have the map browser open the Drainage map will also display when selected in the top right of the Map Window.

2 The Land Drainage Scheme and Drain layers are initially turned off. The Land Drainage Scheme layer becomes visible at scales less than 1 to 1,000,000 and the Drain layer becomes available at scales less than 1 to 100,000. To turn on or off all of the Water Allocation layers just check or uncheck the tick box in the legend next to the bold Drainage heading. This will toggle between on and off. Checking/Unchecking a bold legend heading turns on/off all grouped layers under that heading. You can also turn on/off individual layers.

3 Main Workflow Land Drainage Scheme at a given location Zoom to location Select the Zoom By Rectangle Tool from the Tools tab. The simplest method for obtaining information about a Land Drainage Scheme is to Zoom to a location and hover the mouse over a scheme. When you turn on the active Land Drainage Scheme layer you can view the pop up labels 1. Left mouse click in the map to define the first corner of the area, move the mouse and the zoom area box is drawn as shown below. 2. Left mouse click again to finish selecting area. 3. The map will be re-centred and zoomed into this area.

4 4. Repeat to zoom in further. Tip: You can also use the Previous and Next Tools the previous zoom Map Window extent. to return to When you have zoomed in to your chosen location, pop up labels are available as you move the mouse pointer over the map to tell you the Land Drainage Scheme(s) at that location.

5 You may need to zoom in further to view the blue dashed Drain layer. It is active at scales less than 1 to 100,000.

6 If you zoom in further then the WRAPS 2012 mosaic image and Property layer (purple lines) will available as a back drop to view the drains. Please note that where information is available the Drains layer Accuracy and the Date Added is displayed. Note: The pop up label can only ever report back the top layer that is applicable in an area for a more detailed search see the Feature Info section or the Select features by Point section of this document. Note: Other map details start to appear as you zoom in closer to help you guide yourself around e.g. main roads (red), major rivers and lakes (blue) parcel boundaries (grey).

7 Find Land Drainage Schemes using the Select features by Point Command An additional command is available on the Drainage map that allows you to select Land Drainage Schemes at any given point (regardless of sequence in the map). Select the Select features by Point Tool from the Selection tab. When highlighted it will be dark blue. The precision pointer is now shown, complete with crosshair. Left mouse click in the map to define the point you wish to Search. Once you have finished selecting then click to add the selected features to the clip board. When the search is complete the results are returned in the clip board at the bottom of the map Window. If needed scroll down the window if you need to see all results.

8 Click on export all features to a file icon to save all the data to a.csv file. Find information about the Land Drainage Scheme If you left click on a Land Drainage Scheme with the Tool Feature Info you get the same details about the Land Drainage Schemes. This will produce a Report Window which you can print out. Tip: To print a Report right click and then select print.

10 Search for Drains using the Address query Rather than browsing for a location to check Drains as described earlier it may be easier to search for it if you know the address where you want to check. Select the Simple Query Window Tool from the top toolbar and choose the Address query. In the Address query you need to enter both a House Number and all or the beginning part of the Street Name e.g. entering Vic will find both Victoria and Vickery. There is no need to enter Street, St, Road Rd etc the name is sufficient. Click button to start the search. In this case only one result is found so you just click that row to zoom in on that address. The map window automatically zooms to that address and highlights it light green.

11 The pop up label tells you the selected information about a drain, and you can use the Select By Point tool previously described to find all drains at the location. Search for a consent using NZTM coordinates on the map This query allows you to enter NZTM map coordinates and center the map on the location on the map. Click the Centering map with an input NZTM coordinate Tool from the Tools tab. Enter your NZTM easting and northing as shown. and the map will zoom to that location at a default scale of 1:1,000 Click Center Enter your own NZTM easting and northing to replace the example ones preloaded e.g. Note: be sure you are reading and entering the correct numbers, as the system cannot detect incorrectly entered numbers, missing numbers or extra numbers
