3 4 5 THERMAL AND HEALTH TOURISM with thermal facilities and hospitals is one of the most important health centers in Turkey. In where there are many hospitals serving in all branches, health institutions are influential in terms of technological equipment and qualified personnel. The main hospitals of the region are in this city. Inside the city and in towns, there are 1 District Training and Research Hospital, 17 state hospitals. 1 university hospital, 1 private hospital, 20 community health care centers, 28 family health centers., also with its thermal springs, is one of the leading thermal tourism centers in the region. Thermal springs in Pasinler, Ilıca and Köprüköy are therapy resources for many diseases. These thermal springs are well-qualified in terms of flow rate, temperature and chemical features. They are mostly used with the purpose of treating stomach, kidney, digestive system and rheumatic diseases.

4 6 7 Thermal Tourism Facilities in Resources over 170 enabling thermal tourism have been recovered in the center of and in towns. Pasinler and Aziziye have thermal hotels and springs, Köprüköy has mud ponds, Akdağ, Arzuti, Meman (Tekman), Hamzan (Tekman), Çimenözü (Çat) and Hızırilyas (Horasan) have more of primary facilities.

5 ILICA (AZİZİYE) THERMAL SPRINGS They are found in Aziziye town center on the west of and 15 km away from. Its thermal water with sodium and bicarbonate has the temperature of 39 C and the flow rate of 25 lt/min. Thermal water has been determined to cure a series of disorders like eye diseases, neural system diseases and metabolism disorders. Beside the thermal pools operated by Aziziye Municipality, there are hamam, massage parlor, sports hall, open and closed restaurants, mescid, rest and meeting rooms as well as an open car park. Hotel inside the facility composes of 36 regular and 5 suit rooms. 8 9

6 10 11 PASİNLER THERMAL SPRINGS They are found in Pasinler town center on the east of and 40 km away from. The temperature of the thermal spring water with bicarbonate, chloride, sodium, carbondioxide and partially radioactive component change between C. The ph level is 6,5. The thermal spring with a natural resource outflowing from 205. m has a flow rate of 15 It/min. Thermal water can be benefited from as drinking water and bath cure. When used as drinking water, it positively effects gallbladder, stomach and intestines. For treatments of rheumatism, neural and muscle fatigue, several neural diseases, joint diseases and arthritis, it should be used as bath cures. There are 2 thermal hotels run by Pasinler Municipality and a private thermal hotel with 72 bed capacity. Moreover, construction of thermal facility project including 1000 bed capacity and 5500 timeshares in Akasya Valley is in progress. Another facility in progress, Lalezar Termal, in Pasinler is expected to begin service within 2014.

7 12 13 KÖPRÜKÖY THERMAL SPRING (DELİ ÇERMİK) It is found 3 km away from Köprüköy town center on the east of and 56 km away from. In the town Köprüköy, mostly mud rich in mineral is benefited from. The thermal water including bicarbonate, sodium, calcium, carbondioxide, iron and bromide is used in treatments of rheumatic diseases, respiratory tract, eye, digestive system and metabolism disorders. The facility run by Köprüköy Municipality comprises 2 open pools, a mud unit and lodging-type houses including a room and a kitchen. HIZIRİLYAS VILLAGE THERMAL SPRING It is found in Hızırilyas Village, 102 km away from and approximately 10 km away from Horasan town. Its water which is a source of cure for skin diseases, rheumatism, gynecological diseases and bone calcifications includes bicarbonate, chloride, sulphate, calcium, carbondioxide gas. Facilities in the vicinity were improved and two pools were built with the studies of Horasan District Governorate. AKDAĞ THERMAL SPRING It is found in Akdağ Village at the skirt of Dumlu Mountain on the north of and 28 km away from. There is a primary thermal facility the temperature of whose water is 30 C and the flow rate 5 lt/min. in geothermal field. The thermal water with bicarbonate, chloride, sodium, magnesium and bromide effects stomach, intestine diseases and diabetes positively. The district of the thermal spring is used as a picnic area by the public.

8 Hospitals in with its large capacity and versatile hospitals is an important health tourism center of Turkey. The best hospitals of the neighborhood such as District Training and Research Hospital as well as Atatürk University Research Hospital are found here. Beside, comfortable service is offered in private hospitals and health institutions. 279 staff physicians, 383 general practitioners, 831 nurses and 521 obstetricians are in charge in the city

9 16 17 ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY RESEARCH HOSPITAL DISTRICT TRAINING AND RESEARCH HOSPITAL The hospital whose construction was completed by the Ministry of Health in 2007 is the biggest health center in the Eastern Anatolian Region. The hospital with 21 operating rooms, 5 intensive care rooms, a burn center, 12 internal units includes 8 suit patient rooms, 179 single patient rooms, 115 double patient rooms, new born room, trauma emergent observation room, internal emergent observation rooms for men and women, "Hotel for New Mothers", blood center, nuclear medicine, x-ray, MRI, gama camera, tomography and angiography units. The hospital built on an area of 150 thousand 46 m 2, 149 thousand 986 m 2 of which is closed, has 8 emergency exits, 30 lifts and car parks for 1380 vehicles in total. Hospital inventory also has a helicopter ambulance. In the hospital which prioritizes any kind of comfort and security of patients and their relatives, there are TVs with LCD monitors, refrigerators, restrooms with bath and sink and seats folding into bed. The hospital offers the highest level health service in national and international platform with its structural features, medical and technical equipments using high-technology and with innovative and patient-oriented service manner. The hospital, built on an open area of 161 thousand 500 m 2 and a closed area of 188 thousand 670 m 2, provides service with polyclinic, clinic, dialysis and lithotripsy units, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy, pathology, sterilization units, central laboratory, blood bank, internal and surgical intensive care units, transplantation and burn units, hemodynamics, genetic laboratory and operating rooms and with modern tools in its one-day operating room. Additionally the hospital has Radiological Monitoring Centers in international standards.
