2 BPP University s School of Foundation and English Language Studies offers English language courses to students whose first language is not English. If you want to improve your level of English or build your confidence in English before you start your studies, our courses offer you the opportunity to do so. While studying at the School of Foundation and English Language Studies, I learned a lot of valuable information that has prepared me for my undergraduate degree. Students who require 0.5 IELTS increase in order to meet the IELTS entry requirements for a BPP programme. Students need to hold a conditional offer for one of BPP s academic programmes. Students who wish to improve their general English skills for work, study or social purposes. Benefits to you - Starting from elementary English (equivalent to CEFR A2**) to intermediate English (equivalent to CEFR B1***) - Study for up to four terms - Receive a certificate stating the level of English achieved - Improve your knowledge and confidence in English for professional, academic and social purposes **CEFR A2 = Elementary You can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance, such as very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography and employment. ***CEFR B1 = Pre-intermediate You can converse in a fairly limited way on your background, the immediate environment and on matters of direct need. Entry requirements International Foundation Certificate - IELTS score 5.5 Overall (with 5.5 In writing) or equivalent Extended International Foundation Certificate - IELTS score 5.0 overall (with 5.0 in writing) or equivalent International Pre-Masters Diploma in Business /Legal Studies You can also apply for a two-year extended Masters programme combining the International Pre-Masters Diploma and the first year is as described below. 10 Visa & Immigration BPP University has degree awarding powers and the UK Border Agency (UKBA) Highly Trusted Sponsor Status. All of our full-time programmes meet UKBA visa regulations to apply for a student visa. Full-time students can work part-time while completing their studies. General English course Students with an IELTS 4.0 or equivalent need to register for three Levels to be eligible for a Tier 4 visa otherwise they will have to apply for a Student Visitor visa. Academic English Students registering for any level are eligible for a Tier 4 visa provided they exit at a minimum of CEFR B2. The International Foundation Certificate embeds a wide range of modules, which put you in a better position to undertake any undergraduate degree.
