2 Lone Peak High School Early Childhood Education Training Center Welcome to the Lone Peak High School Early Childhood Education Center! We are excited to have you participate in the programs offered at our center. The center has been established as a teaching facility for high school students who are interested in child-related careers and those who desire more extensive refinement of parenting skills. Trained and prepared high school students teach the preschool classes and work daily with children in different learning situations. All classes have 1-3 adults supervising at all times. Policies Ages Children must 3 years of age and potty trained and no older than 5. Dates The Day Care will be open according to the Alpine School District calendar. Children can attend the same days that students attend school, with some modification at the end of the year. A calendar is attached and we will keep you posted of changes at the end of the year. The daycare will be closed the last week of school during finals. Times 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be an overtime charge of $5.00 for the first 10 minutes and $1.00 per minute after that. Please be considerate of our employees. Credit There will be no credit given for missed days or holidays. We don t charge for August or longer months, it just averages out.

3 Arrival and Departure You may park in the visitor parking in the front of the school or drive around the bus lane and drop off your child if the gates are open. Day Care is in room 506 on the west side of the school. You may park on the red curb for a few minutes for drop off and pick up. Sign in your child on the clipboard on the table in the room. When picking up your child, sign them out on the clipboard, gather any papers from their cubby. Food and Nutrition Breakfast, a morning snack, lunch and an afternoon snack will be provided. Meals are provided by the lunchroom each day. Any special dietary needs of your child, outside of our menu, will be parents responsibility. Rest Periods All children will have the opportunity to rest each afternoon. We provide a resting cot with clean sheets. You will need to send a small blanket and pillow with removable pillowcase labeled with your child s name. We will launder the sheets, you are invited to wash the pillow case and blanket as needed. The children are all required to remain on their cot during this time period. During rest time on Monday we do show videos (-rated of course). Health and Safety Remember, school is for the well child. Parents must cooperate in this matter if a high health standard is to be maintained. Please report all contagious diseases so that other parents may be notified. Please make sure that immunizations are up to date. If you child develops symptoms of an illness while at the center, he/she will be isolated from the other children and parents will be contacted. Plan now to make an alternative arrangement for care if your child is sick. When to keep your child home: Fever, Abdominal pain, Heavy, green nasal discharge, Constant cough, Vomiting, Headache, Diarrhea more than 24 hours, Unusual spots, rash, Pink eye.

4 Accidents We will make an immediate attempt to contact you if an accident happens while your child is at the center. If we can not reach you or other authorized adult, we will call the child s physician. If necessary, we will also call an ambulance. You will be expected to assume responsibility for any resulting expenses incurred. Medication Because of legal implications, the following procedure is required for us to administer medication:! Send only prescribed amount! Please put in writing the type of medication, amount, time to be given and your signature! Medication will be administered by the Child Care Director or Adult Assistant. Discipline and uidance Our task is to help children learn to do right rather than to waste energy in stopping them from doing wrong. We call this kind of discipline positive discipline. This approach helps maintain the relationships of trust, respect and dignity that we are building with children. Our discipline program will be based on the following rules:! No child will be allowed to hurt another child or adult! No child will be allowed to hurt him/herself or place him/herself in unsafe circumstances.! No child will be allowed to destroy property! All child must help with clean up at the center! We first try to remove the child from the area, activity, or child that is causing a problem! Sparingly, time out may be used. This is only to remove the child from the situation until resolution. Time out lasts no more that 1 minute per year of age.

5 Clothing! Our room tends to be cool; you might want to leave a jacket or sweatshirt at school in your child s cubby.! Provide simple clothing that is free of complicated fastenings! Clothing MUST be machine washable, we get messy sometimes.! Make sure that clothing is sturdy and withstand outdoor activities.! Remember to bring a jacket, sweater, hat, gloves, etc when appropriate.! Please label all your child s outer garments (jackets, coats, etc)! Please send sturdy shoes for running and playing! Please send a complete, labeled change of clothes. This should include long pants, shirt, socks and underwear in case of accidents. Cost Tuition is based on actual costs of operating the center. We try to keep our costs down, but are required by the district to be totally self supporting. The only two categories of tuition are listed below, these are monthly rates: Full Time: $ (anything over 5 hours per day or 2 ½ days per week is considered full time.) It is possible if your child attends afternoon kindergarten you will have to pay full time tuition. Part Time: $ (5 hours per day or less or 2 ½ days per week is considered part time 25 hours a week or less) Hourly: If space permits we may offer a few hourly spots. You may bring your child up to 10 hours a week for $5.00 an hour. If you go over the 10 hours a week, you will be charged for part time. The hours must be used each week and cannot roll over. You will be billed for this time at the end of each month. Remember that we are required by the state licensing board to have a specific adult to child ratio. For this reason we must charge more for the part time since they take up a full child slot. The second child in any family will receive a $75.00 per month discount. (Full time only) Payments are due on the first working day of each month. Payment will be considered later after the 10 th of each month. This will result in a $20.00 late fee. Please make payments in the Lone Peak finance office and bring the receipt to the day care. Belongings Please DO NOT send valuables or toys with your child. These cause conflicts with the other children and it is possible they might become lost or damaged.

I realize that the high school students will have experiences in teaching and caring for my child(ren) under the supervision of the adult coordinator, director and assistants. 7 Immunization Form Please obtain a copy of your child s immunization records from your doctor. The Health Department does check each child and will expel any child without the proper paper work. This MUST be turned in the first day of school. School Calendar It is likely that the school calendar will change sometime before the beginning of school. Please find a current calendar at the district website. The link to the calendar is found on the home page. We are open each day students attend school but we do end early at the close of the year due to altered schedules. We will inform you of the last day.

8 Pay Your Tuition Online Directions For Daycare Log in to Sign in with your address and password If you have never used the site before, you need to click into new user registration and answer the profile questions. The next screen will ask you a series of questions: a) What State is your School in? Click on Utah b) What District is your School in? Click on Alpine c) Scroll down on the next screen and click on Lone Peak High School The next screen that appears is the home page. There are two sides to this screen. Student Payments, and Other Payments. You need to choose Other Payments. OTHER PAYMENTS: Under the Payment type click on Daycare. You will either pay full time or part time. Once you have chosen the fees you want to pay, click on add to cart and then check out. There will be a button appear with lettering in green that says continue to checkout. Click on that button You will be asked to enter in the participant s name. Please enter in your child s name you are paying for. Pay with your choice of credit card (we do not accept American Express) Print your receipt

9 Agreement to Pay for Day Care I,, have carefully read the information concerning the fee payment and agree to pay the fee of $ per month, plus any incurred fee for late payment and/or late pick-up. I understand if I am one month late in making my payment, my child will be removed from the program. Full time: $375.00, Part time: $ $20.00 late fee if paid after the 10 th of each month. $5.00 late pick-up fee for the first 10 minutes after 4:00 p.m. and $1.00 for each minute after that. Your position will NOT be held for you if you remove your child from the day care for any reason. I have also read and fully understand the rules and general information concerning the child care center.
