A New Line of Thin Film Pyroelectric IR Detectors Line Array Detectors & Performance Tel.: Unique Thin-film Pyroelectric IR Sensor Components
2. Unique Technology thin-film backgrounder Pyroelectric IR Components MEM s design flexibility: µm high performance Line sensors 128, 250, 500 element Gas sensors Single, dual, quad FTIR sensors Stable, fast, low cost
The Pyreos Product Range Line Array Sensors 1 x 128 product 1 x 510 product Also custom designs Choice of filters Including built in grating (LVF) FT-IR Spectroscopy Gas Fire / Security Unpackaged Sensing Array sensors Sensor Die Fast Stable no cooling High V/W Option to have built in focusing lens Single Duals Mini-quad Choice of gas filters 3x 3 array 4x4 array 6 x 24 array SMD or TO packages Any resolution Any size & Any shape World s smallest PIR available This presentation is for our line array sensor products Please ask to see our other product line presentations or the Company and technology introduction.
Pyreos Broad Absorbing Pyroelectric Device Pyreos pyroelectric sensor material absorbs energy from ~0.1 microns into the THz region. Normally an application will only use certain wavelengths of light. A filter window applied above the sensor will define the wavelength range studied. Optional black layer(s) can be added for enhanced performance over selected wavelengths e.g. NIR or THz With a filter blocking all but IR wavelengths the sensor only detects IR energy Pyreos thin film MEMs sensor structure
IR Spectroscopy is a Key Molecular Analysis Method Almost all molecules have a distinct IR fingerprint IR spectroscopy is suitable for detailed analysis of; Liquids ( industrial solutions, saliva, urine, blood, medicines) Gases (breath, industrial gas flow, air quality, town gas) Solids (powders, films, tablets, skin) IR spectroscopy sensor technology has always been too expensive for mass market application Pyreos high performance low cost, room temperature sensors create new opportunities for infra-red analysis across many industries and applications.
Simple Principal of IR Spectroscopy IR light source Diffraction grating to separate IR light into discrete wavelengths. There are many different types of grating. Sample -Liquid, gas, film or solid form, Absorbs specific wavelengths of IR light Line sensor signals build into unique spectrum of the sample material & are compared to a reference beam signal Pyreos Line sensor; each line sensor element detects different wavelength of IR light
New Opportunities for IR Spectrometers Courtesy of Polycroomix 1960 s Introduction 1980 s onwards 21 st Century Gratings Based IR spectrometer First lab based IR Bulky, slow, fragile Expensive / Difficult to use Major advance in analytical science FT-IR spectrometer Easy to use in lab. Fast, flexible but $$$ Completely replaced gratings based IR equipment Portable spectrometers Simple to use, quick results Untrained users A grating and line sensor works better in portable applications no moving parts
Applications of Line Sensors in IR Analysis Inline process analytics Pharma. & petrochemical Temperature Profiling Industrial Line scan camera Robot vision systems Raman, Near IR, Mid IR Medical diagnostics: breath, blood & urine analysis Laser beam calibration Profile, power, phase Optical channel power monitoring Low cost telecom monitoring Security screening Explosives, bottle screening Terahertz imaging Low cost THz
Medical Example: Urine Analysis & U-Healthcare Daily data from monitoring urine of patients in their homes/ hospital using IR minispectrometer diagnostic toilet - updates to medical records & gives early indication of; Kidney failure & hypertension Diabetes Some cancers This is achieved by analysis of the mid IR fingerprint absorption peaks (shown above ) of Glucose, creatine, free protein, uric acid, bilrubin, and others
Example 2: Breath Analysis for Mobile Healthcare Clinics IR source Compact 1m optical path gas cell Portable hand-held rugged IR spectrometer for use in mobile clinics in 3 rd world Analyses relative levels of 5 gases from breath for signs of illness ; Diabetes - acetone; Breast cancer - pentane Hepatitis - ammonia; Hemolysis - carbon monoxide IR Detector needs to be fast, high resolution, rugged, and low cost - The Pyreos line sensor product family!
Pyreos IR Line Sensor Products 1 x 128 Common package type 1 x 510 Common evaluation-kit Product Resolutions 1 x 128, 2 x 128 1x 250, 1 x 500, 1 x 510, 1 x 1000 Component Details Hermetic metal package 16 pin dual in line connector Integrated Temp sensor Product Performance D* ~ 1 x 109 cm Hz/ W S/N can reach 2000:1 Uniformity > 3% Filters Available Near IR ( µm) Mid IR (3-20 µm) Linear Variable LVF µm & 6-12 µm Electronic Details CMOS Multiplexor IC Analogue out signal Individual programmable gain Rapid scan 1ms minimum.
