2 CCUC West Ministry Pastoral Assistant Job Description (August 2008) Title: Pastoral Assistant, CCUC West Congregation Overview and Purpose of Position: provide spiritual leadership and shepherding to the CCUC-W congregation. A: Preaching and Teaching 1) Provide Bible-based teaching and preaching as the main speaker in worship. 2) Select staff-approved speakers as well for special events and during vacations or other absences. 3) Provide oversight for Sunday School or other ministry-related curricula as appropriate. B: Ministry Leadership 1) Provide leadership for the congregation and/or CCUC programs in coordination and partnership with CCUC Deacon Board. 2) Meet regularly with ministry team to ensure guidance and shepherding to various ministry leaders. C: Leadership Development 1) In partnership with ministry team, help identify, train, and develop leaders within the congregation. D: Outreach Ministry: 1) Lead and execute visitation program. 2) Lead and promote caring and prayer ministries. E: Pastoral Duties 1) Provides short-term Biblical counseling 2) Attend staff meetings, Deacon and Trustee meetings, and other meetings as needed and provide necessary reports and input. 3) Serve as direct supervisor of youth/children coordinator. F: Other duties: perform other duties as required 2

3 CCUC West Ministry Associate Pastor Job Description (May 2008) Title: Associate Pastor, CCUC West Congregation Overview and Purpose of Position: provide spiritual leadership, vision, and shepherding to the CCUC-W congregation. A: Preaching and Teaching 1) Provide Bible-based teaching and preaching as the main speaker in the English Ministry worship. 2) Select staff-approved speakers as well for special events and during vacations or other absences. 3) Provide oversight for Sunday School or other ministry-related curricula as appropriate. 4) Provide theological insight and foundation for issues that arise requiring Pastoral leadership. B: Ministry Leadership 1) Provide vision, direction, and leadership for the congregation and/or CCUC programs in coordination and partnership with CCUC Deacon Board. 2) Meet regularly with ministry team to ensure guidance and shepherding to various ministry leaders. 3) Assist either CCUC Senior Pastor or Deacon Board Chairman in leadership of weekly staff meetings and planning and coordination of various staff and church events and activities. C: Leadership Development 1) In partnership with ministry team, help identify, train, and develop leaders within the congregation. 2) Work closely with ministry team members to provide collaboration, accountability, shepherding, discipleship, and mentoring as appropriate. D: Outreach Ministry: 1) Lead and execute visitation program. 2) Plan and execute evangelistic outreach. 3) Lead and promote caring and prayer ministries. E: Pastoral Duties 1) Conduct weddings, funerals, baptisms (including membership classes), pre-marital counseling classes, child dedication, communion. 2) Provides short-term Biblical crisis counseling of individuals or couples as needed. 3) Attend staff meetings, Deacon and Trustee meetings, and other meetings as needed and provide necessary reports and input. 4) Serve as direct supervisor of youth/children coordinator. 4 Profile, Requirements, and Qualifications (applicable to both positions: Pastoral Assistant and Associate Pastor) Education Graduate of an evangelical seminary (i. e. M.Div. or higher) Adhere to and believes the tenants of the CCUC Statement of Faith. Clear understanding of church discipline and willing to exercise it. Able to work with a strong Deacon Board in a congregational structure. Evangelical/conservative in views with a bias towards reformed/liberal theology. Servant leadership mindset - is there to help serve and not to be served. Display evidence of personal maturity and pastoral experience. Expectations As a member of the CCUC Pastoral Staff, the individual who serves in this position is expected to: 1. Model and teach the mission and values of the church 2. Maintain a close spiritual walk with God and a godly lifestyle 3. Participate in a collaborative, team-oriented fashion with the staff and lay leadership of the church 4. Minister with a commitment to excellence for the glory of God 5. Set an example for other believers in the management of his household and family life Accountability The Associate Pastor is accountable for his responsibilities to CCUC first to God, then the Senior Pastor, then the Board of Deacons, and then the congregation. 4
