2 SceneSet Introduction SceneSet is a proprietary technology from Lumenetix that enables up to five lighting scenes to be pre-programmed into an araya Color Tuning Module (CTM) at the factory. Figure 1 araya Color Tuning Module A lighting scene is composed of four parameters: CCT, Dimming, Saturation and Hue. The specifier community and fixture manufacturers can choose from a library of scenes on the Lumenetix website or create custom scenes comprised of any combination of these four lighting parameters. Once the araya CTM is installed into a lighting fixture, a lighting control system with a 0-10V interface can recall from one (1) to five (5) pre-programmed lighting scenes. In the simplest form, the 0-10V controller is a 0-10V wall dimmer. A five-button wall station can also be used in combination with a central control console that has 0-10V inputs. 3 All five preset scenes can be copied and pasted from one araya lamp onto other araya lamps in one operation. The benefits of SceneSet are: Scene selection by lighting experts Easy commissioning and set up at installation Enables fine tuning of light color to optimize the visual appeal of objects, spaces or personal lighting preferences without replacing lamps or fixtures Simple control using industry standard 0-10V controllers Commonality across fixture manufacturers and different lighting fixtures Compatible with virtually all commercial and residential control systems Select from a library of SceneSets or create custom scenes Future-proofed - SceneSet can be re-programmed in the field as desired SceneSet Lighting Scene Composition A lighting scene is comprised of any combination of CCT, Dimming, Saturation and Hue. Each of these parameters is explained below. CCT: High Quality White Light (On-Planckian) The CCT of a scene can be set at any value within two available ranges: 1650K K or 2700K K. CCTs are in increments of 25K. Lumenetix mixes five colors of multiple LEDS to deliver very high quality light that is 2 SDCM about the Planckian curve and 90+ CRI throughout the tuning range. A proprietary, closed loop color software model controls the delivered light. Five elements of control exist per channel with real time optical, current and thermal measurement information fed back to the software model to lock in the exact color point and assure the highest quality of tunable light. An on-board optical calibration feature with predictive software algorithms ensures the color point over the 50,000 hour lifetime of the module. Dimming Dimming can be set from 100% to 1%, in increments of 1%. Special modulation techniques are deployed to assure absence of steady state flicker. An example of a SceneSet program comprised of high quality white lights is below. In this example, a photograph is illuminated at four different CCTs at 100% Dimming.

5 Saturation The araya CTM incorporates a Saturation feature that enables color-tinted off-planckian white light to highlight and enhance the colors of objects or images. Saturation removes white and other colors to enable a transition from high quality white light on the Planckian curve to a fully saturated color. To implement Saturation, the lighting scene is defined by first selecting any color point on the Planckian curve (0% Saturation) within the tunable range. Increasing Saturation removes white and other colors to move towards a fully saturated, narrow band color (100% Saturation) as defined by the individual LED characteristics for that color. Saturation can be increased or decreased in increments of 1%. For the light to maintain some white appearance the Saturation value should be less than 60 to 80%. Hue The Hue features enables rotation through richly saturated colors to optimize the visual appeal of an object person or space. The araya CTM defines an approximate color space around the base CCT. The color space is divided into 60 Hue values as shown in the table below. The Hue value (from 0 to 60) is selected depending on the desired tint color. 7 SceneSet Program Combining off-planckian and on-planckian color points The five individual lighting scenes within a SceneSet program can be any combination of the previously described options. The initial programs focus on the residential, retail and specialty markets. Additional programs will be available in the future. The Lumenetix SceneSet library can be accessed at: under the CTM Zero heading. SceneSet Programs Custom Scenes Araya offers the option to create custom SceneSet lighting scenes. To create custom scenes, simply choose the CCT, Dimming, Saturation and Hue levels for each scene using the Light Commissioning Tool (LCT) and an araya CTM module or fixture equipped with an araya lamp. 8 SceneSet Changing Pre-Programmed Scenes araya offers the flexibility to change SceneSets in the field to update lighting preferences or changes in interior design. To update SceneSet, use the Light Commissioning Tool (LCT) to create new scenes. The new SceneSets can then be copied and pasted onto other araya lamps in the installation.
