2 TRADITIONAL & CONTEMPORARY MIRRORS OVERMANTELS have been making hand crafted giltwood mirrors for over 20 years drawing on our experience in dealing with antique mirrors and restoration. We have become the leading suppliers of all types of mirrors from traditional Georgian, Regency and Victorian, to 19th century French and contemporary styles. All our mirrors are made by our team of specialist frame makers, carvers and gilders in the UK and our work is recognised for its quality and authenticity. MADE TO MEASURE We make all our mirrors in the UK and we are able to offer a bespoke service. We are happy to advise you on sizing and design and then produce a mirror specially made to your requirements. CHOOSE YOUR FINISH You can choose the finish of your mirror from a variety of colours. As well as our Standard Gilt finish, we have Dutch Gold Leaf, Silver Leaf, French Wash, Rubbed Gilt and real 23kt Gold Leaf. Finally you can specify a paint colour. ARCHTOP OVERMANTELS The most versatile of mirrors from the early 19th century which were traditionally used over mantelpieces in reception rooms. They look equally imposing over console tables, in halls and in bedrooms. All these archtops can be cut down in height to fit under picture rails or lower ceilings. Alternatively, our three quarters scaled down version may be a better proportion for the smaller fireplace while the dressing mirror also works well on landings and in bedrooms. These rope and bow ornaments were introduced early in the 19th century to celebrate Nelson s naval victories. This mirror now comes with our new triple bow decoration as the detail below shows. 5 RECTANGULAR MIRRORS The proportions of these classical Regency frames lend themselves well to many areas of the house. All have bevelled glass and, if fitted over a mantelpiece, may benefit from being raised a few inches. No 32, the Regency Cluster Column mirror, has a choice of decorative friezes: Medallion, Wave and Chinoiserie which has the added option of the background being painted to order. 6 TRIPTYCH MIRRORS During the late 18th century, mirror glass was very expensive and only available in small sheets. Thus the three panel format was an ideal solution in achieving a wide mirror. All these classic mirrors have bevelled glass and traditional dividing bars. Our rectangular triptyches have a good range of classical friezes to choose from: Lattice, Chariot, Swags & Bows or Anthemion. An added service is the painting of the background to match your own decorative schemes, shown particularly effectively here with the Lattice frieze. 7 PIER GLASSES The slim proportions of the standard pier glass fits halls, passageways and landings particularly well, bringing light to these sometimes gloomy areas. Choose from a frieze of Swags & Bows or Nymphs. The wider pier glass comes with a choice of classic friezes including Swags & Bows, Urn, Nymphs or Lattice and its width suits many mantelpieces. 8 LARGE ORNAMENTAL ENGLISH MIRRORS These imposing early 19th century mirrors make a graceful focal point for reception rooms by virtue of their size and decoration. By the end of the 18th century, technical advances in glass making enabled large plates of glass to be made. 9 LARGE FRENCH MIRRORS These mirrors are in three of the most distinctive French shapes - rectangular with rounded corners, serpentine shaped top and the earlier panel mirror known as Trumeau. 10 CUSHION MIRROR Another distinctly French style with raised central mirror and angled side panels making a cushion shape. ROUND CONVEX MIRRORS Often referred to as Butlers or Fish Eye mirrors, these formal mirrors come in two sizes with the option of an imposing eagle top and can be ordered with flat glass. 13 VERRE EGLOMISE MIRRORS Verre Eglomise is a technique whereby silver or gold leaf is applied to the back of the glass.
