Located within the purpose buit fashion studios, students wi earn a aspects of the industry from using industria equipment, designing their own coection, pattern making to earning about running your own sma business. Incuded in this years unit standards based quaification are Pattern Making units using a CADCAM system (Leve 4) and deveoping and fit patterns for garment of compex design.(leve 4) The Certificate in Fashion Appare is designed to: get our app search ideaschoo Deveop knowedge and skis needed for different aspects of the fashion and appare industry. Teach students to maintain and operate industria sewing machines, draft patterns, make sampes and to design, construct and mode garments. Introduce students to the fashion industry which incudes fied trips to understand job roes within the fashion industry, source fabrics, exhibitions, attend Fashion Week as work experience, to understand the anguage of production, costing and business skis. Graduates prior to this wi be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Programme Coordinator. Engish anguage entry requirement: Students are required to have attained an acceptabe eve of Engish anguage fuency. This may be demonstrated in a variety of ways, incuding successfu study in Engish, approved scores on TOEFL or IELTS (5.0 Academic) tests, competion of accepted internationa equivaents, or competion of an EIT bridging programme. Faciities Taradae campus Fashion Workrooms are fuy equipped with industria and semi-industria standard equipment incuding ock-stitch machines, overockers, cover-seamers, steam irons, ro hemmer, fusing press etc Computer Aided Pattern Making software (PAD) and Adobe Photoshop are taught in Computer Labs. Programme information Six courses incuding 8 NZQA unit standards totaing 37 credits and a mixture of EIT courses incuding Sma Business Management. Practicum, work experience Leve 4 students wi attend two fied trips in (Fabric Sourcing and Fashion Week) and aso do work experience at Fashion Week. A portion of the programme invoves students organising/panning and modeing in a Fashion Show. 3 Assessments Unit standards and EIT Course Assessments are on-going. Tutors observe student work in cass, practica tasks, interaction and individua work. Participation is a requirement of a courses. Assessments incude assignments and participation in the Fashion Show at the end of the programme.
