SPREAD THE WORD Use the posters and invitations in this fundraising pack to help tell people about your event. Have a look at our promotion tips on the next page aswell. Here s your free fundraising pack, which includes everything you ll need to hold your very own successful charity tea party; posters, invitations, bunting as well as great fundraising ideas. Contact us and we ll also send out such things as balloons to you too. You can choose to hold your event during March, or on any date during the Spring to suit you, but we do kindly ask that you forward the money you ve raised by 31st May SET YOUR TARGET Set your donation fee for the event and plan some exciting fundraising events on the day to help you raise even more. Consider asking local business to donate cakes, tea or a raffle prize. 4. ROLL OUT THE RED CARPET Decorate your venue in a way suitable to hold Wales Biggest Tea Party. We ve provided some bunting and balloons to get you going, but think about tablecloths, napkins and table accessories to add a special sparkle to your event. 5. TELL US ABOUT IT We d love to know about your event and how it went. We d also love to see your photos and videos, we ll put them up on our social media sites to show off all your hard work. Some of our supportive volunteers
3 FUNDRAISING IDEAS As well as asking for a small donation on the door, there s plenty of other ways to raise money to save lives in Wales. Here s are just a few ideas for your own charity tea party. ALFRESCO TEA PARTY ATTEMPT A TOWER OF CARDS RECORD HOLD A COMPETITION - WHOSE BAKING OR DECORATING IS MORE ORIGINAL? HOLD A CAKE RAFFLE OR AUCTION Welsh Hearts is a registered charity and has been established as a fundraising organisation to help support heart projects in Wales, where the death rate due to cardiovascular disease is higher than in the majority of countries in Western Europe. In Wales, there are approximately 8000 sudden cardiac arrests outside hospital each year. The survival rate is 3%. Where a defibrillator is used, this raises to 47-50%. The chance of successful defibrillation declines at a rate of over 20 per cent per minute, unless chest compressions are given. We are working with our partners to massively increase the number of defibrillators situated in Wales, with the aim of ensuring a defibrillator is situated next to every public fire extinguisher in Wales. We have set up the Dai Fib Appeal to achieve this aim. HOW MANY HUNDREDS & THOUSANDS ON THE CUPCAKE? Welsh Hearts also supports PhD research students wishing to follow a career in cardiology research and will be launching our new heart screening project soon. Please get in touch if you can help! The work of Welsh Hearts is vital for the people of Wales and we rely heavily on donations of time and money to assist us with our work. We are proud to state that all money raised in Wales is spent in Wales. Diolch Thank you
4 PROMOTION The more people that come to your event, the more money we ll be able to raise. We ve put together some posters and invitations for you to help promote your event. Put up posters in your local shop, post office, social club or doctor s surgery to let people in your wider community know about your event. Send invitations to any special people that you d like to invite, like a local celebrity, prominent business person or a civic leader. PRESS RELEASE A great way to drum up support is to get your local media involved - newspapers, magazines and radio. Use the example below to promote your event, remember to include anything original or quirky to help make your story stand out. Send out another press release after your event letting people know how the event went, how much you raised and giving thanks for all the support you received. How about including a photo too. To the editor, I/We/Group are holding a charity tea party to support Welsh Hearts, and their Wales Biggest Tea Party appeal, to raise money for life-saving heart equipment and training for Wales. It will be held at... on... at... We invite everybody in the community to join us by baking a cake, donating a raffle prize or coming along on the day to help us raise some money. Welsh Hearts is a registered charity and has been established as a fundraising organisation to help support heart projects in Wales, where the death rate due to cardiovascular disease is higher than in the majority of countries in Western Europe. Thank you AFTER THE WASHING UP With the last plate back on the shelf and all the crumbs dusted away, don t forget to thank everybody for their donations, cakes, tea-making ability. Thank those who came and enjoyed the day with you - let them know how it all went and how much money you raised. Now comes the important bit - please make sure you collect all your donations and pay the money to Welsh Hearts. We use this money to fund life-saving equipment for communities in Wales and promote healthy hearts for everybody. Over the phone with your credit or debit card. Call With the bank Sort code Account number Account name Welsh Hearts Please use Tea Party as a reference Send a cheque by post. Please make cheques payable to Welsh Hearts and quote Tea Party on the reverse. Amount raised of event Name Address Postcode Phone number address If you are a UK taxpayer, Welsh Hearts can reclaim the tax you have paid on every donation you make. For every 1 you give we can claim up to 25p back from HM Revenue & Customs, at no extra cost to you. I am a UK taxpayer and I confirm that I want to treat all donations I have made to Welsh Hearts for the last 4 years and any future donations I may make, as Gift Aid donations until further notice. I confirm I have paid or will pay an amount of Income Tax and/ or Capital Gains Tax for each tax year that is at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities that I donate to will reclaim on my gifts for that tax year and understand that other taxes such as VAT and Council Tax do not qualify. Send completed form and your payment to Welsh Hearts, Castle Court, 6 Cathedral Road, Cardiff CF11 9LJ
