3 Precautions SPSViewerBasic is designed to operate with SPSViewer -compatible application software running on Smart Photo Sensor SPS02 manufactures by Toshiba Teli Corporation. Using SPSViewerBasic in combination with application software that is not designed for communication with SPSViewerBasic may cause malfunction or cause damage to peripheral objects. 7 2 SPSViewerBasic Installation Administrator authorization is necessary to install application to Windows. Log in to your PC as an Administrators group user when install or uninstall SPSViewerBasic. If SPSViewerBasic is already installed to the pc, uninstall previous version SPSViewerBasic before installing SPSViewerBasic. (See section 4) Step I. Start setup.exe. Download SPSViewerBasic installer package from Toshiba Teli web site, and extract compressed files. Step III. Read license agreement. Figure 2-1: Extracted files Files shown in Figure 2-1: Extracted files will be extracted. Double click setup.exe to start installing SPSViewer. Figure 2-4: License agreement Scroll the Software License Agreement text box downward, and Read English version Software License Agreement. Select I Agree and press Next button, if you agree with the software license agreement. If you do not agree, press Cancel button to cancel installation. Press Next button in Welcome to the SPSViewerBasic Setup Wizard dialog. Step IV. Select installation folder. Press Next button to fix installation folder. 7 of 29

9 3 SPS02 USB driver Installation SPSViewerBasic setup program contains USB driver for SPS02, which is copied to program file folder of SPSViewerBasic. The following is default folder of SPS02 USB driver. C:\Program Files\Toshiba Teli\SPSViewerBasic\USBDriver\ Follow the steps below to install USB driver of SPS02 when SPS02 is connected with PC first. Step I. Connect SPS02 with PC. Step II. Open Device manager Open Control panel of Windows OS, and double click Device Manager. Figure 3-1: SPS02 USB connector Connect Micro-USB port of SPS02 with USB port of the PC that SPSViewerBasic is installed using Micro-USB cable. Windows will detect the new hardware connected and try to find out device driver. (Figure 3-2) If device driver is successfully installed, installing driver is complete. In most case, appropriate device driver will not be found and Figure 3-3 will be shown, Figure 3-4: Device manager SPS02 will be found in Other device category. Step III. 10 Step IV. Select Browse my computer Step VI. Wait install complete. Figure 3-6: Update Driver Software (1) Select Browse my computer for driver software. Update Driver Software dialog will change to Figure 3-7. Step V. Press Browse button Figure 3-8: Update Driver Software (3) Figure 3-8 is shown and device driver installing procedure starts. Close Device manager Figure 3-7: Update Driver Software (2) Press Browse button to select the folder that contains SPS02 USB driver, then press Next button. Update Driver Software dialog will change to Figure 3-8. Figure 3-10: Installation complete Update Driver Software dialog will change to Figure 3-10 when installation completes. 11 4 SPSViewerBasic Uninstallation Step I. Execute Uninstall menu. Figure 4-1: Start menu Select Uninstall menu in SPSViewerBasic folder of Start menu to start uninstallation process. Step II. Press Yes button. Figure 4-4: User account control If user account control dialog appears, press Yes button to continue installation. Step IV. Wait part 2. Figure 4-2: Confirm uninstallation Press Yes button in Uninstallation confirmation dialog. Step III. Wait part 1. Figure 4-5: Wait dialog Uninstallation process consists of several stages, and progress of each uninstallation stage will be shown in progress bar. Windows configures SPSViewer dialog will go out when whole uninstallation process completes. Figure 4-3: Preparing to remove Preparing to remove dialog appears and it will be automatically replaced to Windows configures SPSViewer dialog when preparation completes. 11 of 29

12 5 Start SPSViewerBasic Step I. Execute SPSViewer menu of Start menu. Select SPSViewer menu in SPSViewerBasic folder of Start menu to start SPSViewerBasic. Connect SPS02 with PC using USB cable. Connect SPS02 with PC using USB cable within 20 seconds, if it is not connected. SPSViewer will change the appearance using the informatics received from the SPS02. Figure 5-3: Main window If the main window initial appearance (Figure 5-2) remains unchanged, disconnect USB cable, click Start communication icon in the tool bar to restart communication opening procedure, and connect SPS02 again. In case the failure repeats, application software running of the SPS may not compatible with SPSViewer or application software in the SPS02 flash memory may be damaged. 12 of 29

13 6 Close SPSViewerBasic Click Close Application icon or, Close button on the Top-Right corner of main window to close SPSViewerBasic. Communication closing sequence may take a few seconds before shutting down SPSViewerBasic. Do not disconnect USB cable before SPSViewerBasic shuts down, which may cause communication error in SPS02 application, image processing operation may stop. Figure 6-1: Close application button If close button is pressed during writing data to flash memory of SPS02, warning dialog (Figure 6-2) appears to prevent from damaging flash memory data. 14 7 SPSViewerBasic Main Window The main window of SPSViewer consists of 9 sections. Application ID and application version data are very important in SPSViewer, which are used for checking consistency of SPS02 application and SPSViewer setting data. <Meaning of application information in main window title bar> SPSViewer AppID9995 : Parts direction Checker Ver : dt0 SPS SerialNo: Name : Demo A B C D E F Item A B C D E F content 4 digits unique ID assigned to the application software running on the SPS02. 15 2) Tool bar Figure 7-3: Tool bar Tool bar has icons in Table 7-2 for executing various functions. Some of these icons will be set invisible, when they are useless in the application. 16 6) Images Images received from SPS02 are shown in this section. (Figure 7-8) Each picture box has Individual freeze check box on left-bottom corner. If Individual freeze check box is checked, the corresponding image will be freeze. (Figure 7-7) The menus in Table 7-3: Context menu of picture box are available for the image clicked. There are two image types received from SPS02. One is an image that will change at every data reception. The other is an image that will not change at every data reception, for example reference image for pattern matching. The later image is described as fixed image, in Table 7-3, Menu 1 Show Histogram Open histogram window Function 2 Update Fixed image Get the latest image from image source.(fixed image only) 3 Write images to SPS Write current fixed image on SPS02 flash memory. 4 Save images Save current image without shapes in PC disk. 5 Load images Load fixed image from PC disk. 6 Hide Shape Text Hide text of shapes on the image. 7 Hide All Shapes Hide all shapes on the image. 8 Enable parameter editing 9 Show in Zoom Window Open zoom window. 10 Show Cursor Pixel Information Enable editing parameters by dragging a shape, whose coordinates data are editable parameter. 17 7) Parameter editors Edit parameters of the application software running on SPS02 in this section. Fold / expand switch Parameter editors group Title raw Text mode editor Numeric mode editor Slider knob Up / down switch Parameter name Figure 7-11: Parameter editors (Default mode) In most cases, Title raw is provided to each parameter editors group. By clicking a Title raw, parameter editors group is folded, or expanded alternately. Parameter editor has 3 modes, text mode, numeric mode and button mode. In text mode, value of the parameter is shown as text at right side of parameter name. Edit value by selecting choice. In numeric mode, value of parameter is shown at right side of parameter name. Use slider knob for coarse editing, use up/down switch for precise editing. In button mode, one or two buttons are shown at right side of parameter name. Click the button at the timing explained in each SPS02 application document. Edited value will be sent to SPS02, and used in image processing. User can confirm the propriety of new parameters immediately. Be careful that these data will be lost when SPS02 is shut down. Use Write current settings icon to write current parameters on the flash memory of SPS02. The written parameter values will be used as initial parameter values. Up function area Down function area Figure 7-12: Tablet mode menu Figure 7-13: Parameter editors (Tablet mode) By executing Tablet mode menu in the tool bar context menu, the appearance of numeric mode editor will be switched to Tablet mode or to Default mode. In Tablet mode, up function area in Figure7-12 works as Up button, and down function area works as Down button. It will be easier to edit parameter value precisely using Tablet mode when SPSViewerBasic is running on touch panel tablet pc. 17 of 29

18 8) Operation log Figure 7-14: Operation Log The data received from application software on SPS02 are shown as operation log in this section. If operation log data scroll speed is too fast to read, click Freeze Operation Log icon to stop appending new operation log text. While operation log is frozen, graphs, shapes on the images, and status data in status information area are also freeze. By clicking Freeze Operation Log icon again, operation log will show latest log data again. 9) Status information Figure 7-15: Status information Some of the data sent from the application on SPS02 will be shown in status information area, bottom area of the main window. SPSViewer has another status information display, which will be shown at right-bottom area of the main window. User can change the location of this status information by dragging it using mouse. 19 8 Zoom Window Figure 8-1: Zoom Window Zoom window shows an enlarged image received from SPS02. Maximum enlargement rate is 800%. This window appears when Show in Zoom Window menu of context menus in a picture box of SPSViewerBasic main window is selected. This window will be closed by pressing button of this window. User can scroll image using scroll bars or dragging image with mouse. Context menus of picture box are available by right-clicking, except Show in Zoom Window menu. Histogram window (Figure 9-1) for Zoom Window is independent from that of main window. User can set histogram measuring area different from that of main window image. 19 of 29

Horizontal axis shows pixel value, Vertical axis shows pixel count that has the same pixel value. The default scaling mode of vertical axis is automatic mode. (Scale button shows Manual Scale ). If the range of vertical axis is edited using up/down button, the text on scale button will be changed to Auto Scale and scaling mode of vertical axis will be switched to manual mode. In manual mode, the range of vertical axis can be set. Histogram measuring area will be shown as cyan color rectangle in the picture box of measuring target image. Histogram measuring area can be edited using up / down controls of Histogram window or by mouse-dragging mark shown on cyan color histogram measuring area rectangle. 21 10 Install SPS02 Application on SPS02 By Clicking Write settings in PC disk icon, SPS02 application data file downloaded from Toshiba Teli web site is installed to SPS02. Step I. Click icon in tool bar. 1 Figure 10-1: Write settings in PC disk Step IV. OK button. Click Write settings in PC disk icon in the tool bar of SPSViewer main window. Overwrite SPS firmware and / or SPSViewer setting data dialog appears. (Figure 10-2) Step II. Select data file. Figure 10-3: Start updating Press OK button in Start updating SPS firmware dialog. (Figure 10-3) SPS02 application Setup Wizard appears. (Figure 10-4) If Figure 10-4 does not appear, proceed tostep VIII. Step V. Press Next button. Figure 10-2: Overwrite settings Select SPS02 application data file writing on SPS02 using button or select button. SPSViewer setting data file (file name ends with.spd ) and SPS02 application data file (file name ends with.spk ) will be shown as choice when button is pressed. Select.spk file. By pressing select button, file stored in a folder other than default data folder can be selected. Step III. Press Overwrite flash memory Press Overwrite flash memory in SPS button. (Figure 10-2) Start updating SPS firmware dialog appears. (Figure 10-3) Figure 10-4: Setup wizard (1) Press Next button. The dialog will change to Figure of 29

22 Step VI. Read License agreement. Figure 10-5: Setup wizard (2) Read the License agreement carefully. If agree, select I Agree and press Next button. The dialog will change to Figure Otherwise, press Cancel button to cancel installation. Press Next button. `Application installing process starts. Before writing application firmware on SPS02, the tutorial files of SPS02 application is stored in application data folder (see section 16.3). SPSViewer will show the tutorial file when icon of SPSViewer main window are clicked. Step VIII. Wait writing complete. Flash memory writing status (Figure 10-7) appears. Bar color of flash memory writing status will be switched to green when all data are written successfully. Step VII. Press Next button. 23 11 Write current settings on SPS02 flash memory By Clicking Write & Save Current settings icon, current settings is saved on PC disk as back up data and they are written on the flash memory of SPS02 Step I. (Figure 11-2) Step II. Edit data revision. Step V. Wait writing complete. Flash memory writing status (Figure 11-4) appears upon information bar of main window. Writing status is shown as blue bar while writing process is on the way. Bar color will change to green when all data are written successfully. (Figure 11-5) Click reset icon to reset SPS02 and start SPS02 application with the written new parameters Figure 11-2: Confirmation of sensor name and data revision Edit sensor name and / or data revision, if necessary. Step III. Press OK button. Press OK button in Confirmation of sensor name and data revision dialog. 24 12 Write settings in PC disk on SPS02 flash memory By Clicking Write settings in PC disk icon, SPSViewer setting data stored in PC disk is written on the flash memory of SPS02. Write settings in PC disk icon is also used for writing application data file downloaded from Toshiba Teli website to SPS02.. Step I. Click icon in tool bar. 1 Figure 12-1: Write settings in PC disk Click Write settings in PC disk icon in the tool bar of SPSViewer main window. Overwrite SPS firmware and / or SPSViewer setting data dialog appears. (Figure 12-2) Step III. Press Overwrite flash memory in SPS button. Press Overwrite flash memory in SPS button. (Figure 12-2) Start updating SPS firmware dialog appears. (Figure 12-3) Step IV. Press OK button. Step II. Select data file. Data file whose file name ends with.spk is an Application data file, which contains application firmware of SPS02 and setting data of SPSViewer. Data file whose file name ends with.spd is a SPSViewer setting data file, which contains setting data of SPSViewer only. By pressing select button, data file stored in a folder other than default data folder can be selected. Figure 12-3: Start updating Press OK button in Start updating SPS Software dialog. (Figure 12-3) If Application data file is selected in Step II, application setup wizard will appear. (see section10step V. ) Step V. Wait writing complete. Flash memory writing status (see Figure 11-4) appears. Bar color of flash memory writing status will be switched to green when all data are written successfully. Step VI. Click icon. Click reset icon to reset SPS02 and start SPS02 application with the written new parameters. 24 of 29

25 13 Load settings in PC disk to SPSViewer By clicking Load setting icon during communicating with SPS02, SPSViewer loads setting data stored in PC disk instead of the setting data received from SPS02. Use this icon only when additional setting data are provided. Step I. Click Load settings icon. Figure 13-1: Load settings Dialog for selecting SPSViewer setting file appears. Select setting file and press OK button. If application ID or application version of selected setting file is different from that of SPS02 application, warning dialog appears. (Figure 13-2) Figure 13-2: Warning dialog Press Yes button to continue loading selected data, press No button to cancel loading selected data. If Application data file is selected, application setup wizard will appear.(see section10 Step V. Step II. Select whether keep current parameter value or not. Press Yes button to replace loaded parameter values with current parameter values. Press No button to write loaded parameter values to the application running on SPS of 29

26 14 Save current settings on PC disk By clicking Save settings icon, current setting data is saved on PC disk. Step I. Setting data will be saved on the destination folder with the file name show in section of 29

27 15 Save settings in SPS02 flash memory on PC disk By clicking Save settings in SPS02 flash memory on PC disk icon User can read out setting data stored in the flash memory of SPS02, and save them on PC disk,. Press Select folder button to change destination folder, if necessary. Step III. Press Read and Save button. Data in the flash memory of SPS02 will be saved in destination folder with the file name show in section of 29

29 16.3 Data folder SPSViewerBasic uses Application Data folder that operation system provides, for reading and / or saving setting data.
