1 Usage Scenario 1 A simple setup for 8 light channels Interface Control4 is used to control 8 separate circuits of lighting using one Control4 DIN Rail 8 x 2A Leading Edge Dimmer Module. Each circuit can be controlled via the Control4 Navigator user interface and/or remote controls. A Control4 HC300 or Control4 I/O Extender sends commands to the DIN Rail Dimmer Module via a serial connection to a Control4 DIN Rail Interface. This device converts the protocol commands before forwarding them to the DIN Rail Dimmer Module on the data bus. power (240VAC) is wired directly into the Control4 DIN Rail 8 x 2A Leading Edge Dimmer Module and Control4 DIN Rail. One DIN Rail must be present on the data bus to provide power for bus and the internal electronics of any DIN Rail Dimmer Modules.

In this scenario each circuit can be controlled via a standard 3 rd party toggle switch, as well as the Control4 Navigator user interface and/or remote controls. Eight standard 3 rd party light switches have been connected to the Module as volt-free contacts. Control4 has been programmed with Composer to toggle a corresponding channel on the DIN Rail Dimmer Module on/off when each of the 3 rd party light switches is pressed. (Alternatively, Control4 could be programmed to activate a lighting scene, involving multiple channels on the DIN Rail Dimmer Module simultaneously, when a 3 rd party light switch is pressed.)

3 Usage Scenario 3 A setup for 8 light channels adding control from 3 rd party toggle switches and Network Processor Unit Interface Network Processor Unit C4 DR NPU M 3 rd Party Toggle Switches As per Usage Scenario 2, but with the addition of a Control4 DIN Rail Network Processor Unit. In this scenario each circuit can be controlled via the 3 rd party Keypads, as well as from the Control4 Navigator user interface and/or remote controls. The 3 rd party Keypads can communicate with the Control4 DIN Rail Network Processor Unit on the data bus, as well as the Control4 Director. The Control4 DIN Rail Network Processor Unit has been programmed independently of Composer, via its own web interface, to allow the 3 rd party Keypads to continue controlling the Control4 DIN Rail 8 x 2A Leading Edge Dimmer Module in the event of the Control4 Director being offline.

4 Usage Scenario 4 A setup for 20 light channels Interface 4 x 3A Dimmer Module C4 DR DIM4 M Control4 is used to control 20 separate circuits of lighting using two Control4 DIN Rail 8 x 2A Leading Edge Dimmer Modules and a Control4 DIN Rail 4 x 3A Leading Edge Dimmer Module. Each circuit can be controlled via the Control4 Navigator user interface and/or remote controls. A Control4 HC300 or Control4 I/O Extender sends commands to the DIN Rail Dimmer Module via a serial connection to a Control4 DIN Rail Interface. 5 Usage Scenario 5 and low voltage device control Interface 4 x 5A Relay C4 CR RM4 M Low Voltage devices: Blinds, PIR s, Doorbell etc 0/1 10V LEDs, DSI or DMX loads Voltage: Garage Door Driveway Heater Extractor Fan Magnetic Lock etc. A Control4 HC300 or Control4 I/O Extender sends commands to a Control4 DIN Rail Module and a Control4 DIN Rail 4 x 5A Relay Module via a serial connection to a Control4 DIN Rail Interface. This device converts the protocol commands before forwarding them to the DIN Rail Modules on the data bus. Each device can be controlled via the Control4 Navigator user interface and/or remote controls. In this scenario the Control4 DIN Rail Module is being used to control 0/1-10V SELV devices, DSI and DMX loads and for the integration of 0-10V signals or conventional contact switches. The Control4 DIN Rail 4 x 5A Relay Module is relaying mains voltage to devices that require 240V.
