2 NANOTECHNOLOGY Nanotechnology ("nanotech") is manipulation of matter on an atomic, molecular, and supra- molecular scale. A more generalized description of nano - technology was subsequently established by the National Nanotechnology Initiative, which defines nanotechnology as the manipulation of matter with at least one dimension sized from 1 to 100 nanometers. Application: Nanotechnology has a cross sectoral application and an interdisciplinary orientation. There are many applications of nanotechnology such as in the area of medicine, chemistry and environment, energy, agriculture, information and communication, heavy industry and consumer goods. The alleged potential of this technology has garnered the attention of both developed and developing countries across the globe. Nanotechnology research and development is directed towards understanding and creating improved materials, devices and systems that exploit these properties as they are discovered and characterized. Scientists currently debate the future implications of nanotechnology. NANO TECHNOLOGY- TO SKY NANO TECHNOLOGY- CARBON LADDER TO SKY IMPACT ON INDIA The emergence of nanotechnology in India has witnessed the engagement of a diverse set of players, each with their respective agenda and role. India has sought to promote nanotechnology applications in sectors that are likely to have a wide impact, and influence the course of future development in the country. Sectors such as health, energy and environment have received greater attention by various technology departments in the government The Nanotechnology impact on India is predicted to be larger than the IT and internet boom. ABOUT THE SEMINAR After the overwhelming response of our 1st and 2nd National Seminars arranged in year 2014 and 2015, we are organizing the 3rd National seminar on: "Nanotechnology: Carbon Ladder to Sky", on 11th & 12th March, This seminar is intended to cover the broad applications of Nanotechnology in various areas of science and engineering. The seminar aims to provide a platform for highly technical deliberations between research scholars, faculty members, industrial and government employees and consultants.
