2 DISCOVERING THE ANDEAN PERU 7 DAYS / 6 NIGHTS Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu Day 1: Lima Welcome to Peru! You are ready to begin your adventure in Lima. You will arrive in the evening and be welcomed by our professional staff. They will transfer you to your hotel and explain the details of your itinerary. Remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight at Casa Andina Private Collection Miraflores Superior Room or similar Day 2: Lima, Cusco After breakfast you will be met at your hotel and transferred to the airport to take your flight to Cusco. On arrival at Cusco you are met and transferred to your hotel where you can rest to help you adapt to the altitude. Afternoon Cusco City Tour & Nearby Inca Sites (Shared Tour) 1pm. This afternoon, you will visit the city of Cusco, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco and home to a somewhat particular essence. The tour will start at the Koricancha temple, an ancient Inca palace and main worship center of the Sun God, where the order of the Dominicans built an incredible church that can still be seen there. Then, you will tour the Plaza de Armas where the Cathedral and the beautiful Church of the Society of Jesus, among other colonial buildings, are located. You will then continue the journey to the colonial church of San Cristóbal to enjoy a spectacular view of the city. Afterwards you will go on to the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, an Inca building known for its massive walls of hewn stone, located in a strategic location, on a hill, with a broad view of the city of Cuzco. 3 Day 3: Cusco / Sacred Valley Full Day Exploring the Authentic Sacred Valley of the Incas (Shared Tour) with lunch. Incas Balcony, Ollantaytambo Fortress & Moray Inca Terraces are part of the tour. Discover the best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas through this route starting on the Inca's Balcony, a beautiful place with an impressive view of Chinchero ruins and city where twelves families still preserve their traditional mores, showing you the ancestral way in which they process the wool, and obtain those vivid colors for their textiles. Later, we will arrive to Moray, an impressing pre-inca greenhouse, then, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, we will arrive at Ollantaytambo, one of the most monumental architectural complexes of the ancient Inca Empire, one of the few places where the Spanish conquistadors lost a major battle. Very well known for its andenes (terraces dug into the slopes of mountains for agricultural purposes), Ollantaytambo was a highly effective fortress that also served as a temple. Then, we contineu to the town of Ollantaytambo, with narrow cobblestone streets that have been continuously inhabited since the 13th century. Later this afternoon arrive at your hotel located in the Sacred Valley. Overnight at Casa Andina Private Collection Valle Sagrado Superior Room or similar & Lunch Day 4: 2016: Sacred Valley Morning Experience with Misminay Andean Community with Brunch (Private Tour) am. Visit the community of Mullaka s Misminay, located in the Sacred Valley and discover their Andean lifestyle. Share with the local people the ancestral knowledge of this community choosing one of their daily activities: weaving seminar, agricultural or ethno botany session. During the Weaving Seminar, the hostess will teach you the techniques used since many centuries ago by their ancestors. They are still using some traditional old tools as the Telar made of wood and for coloring they use natural tints that come from roots and typical plants. In the agricultural session, you will also have the chance to learn about ancient techniques, the tools used by the Incas, which are the same they still use daily. You will learn about the different products that come from their fields and which they produce. The Ethno botany session will show you the local herbs that can be used for some sicknesses. You will learn how to chop them and what proportions should be used for medicine. Finally, discover more of Peruvian gastronomy and enjoy a delicious brunch made from their local products. 4 Day 5: Sacred Valley / Machu Picchu This morning you will be met at your hotel to be transferred to the train station to board the Vistadome Train to Aguas Calientes, where the next adventure begins! FULL DAY MACHU PICCHU Awaiting you today is by far and away one of the high points in world tourism: Machu Picchu. Your adventure starts on a train ride to the city of Aguas Calientes, where you will disembark and meet your local guide then board a bus that drives you to the actual Machu Picchu archaeological site. Here you will definitely have an experience you will never forget. You will discover this new 7 Wonder of the World and UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site; afterwards, there is some free time for you to explore the site on your own, to relax, or to meditate. If you prefer you can have lunch on your own at the restaurant at the top or in the cafeteria and then come back and keep exploring on your own until 5pm (when the citadel closes). At the proper time, board the bus back to town and check in at the hotel so you can rest after an amazing day. Dinner included at the hotel Overnight at Casa Andina Classic Machu Picchu Traditional Room & Dinner Day 6: Aguas Calientes / Cusco Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Morning at Leisure or an optional second entrance to Machu Picchu at your own expense. This afternoon you will board the Vistadome train for your return journey. 5 Day 7: Cusco / Lima Buffet Breakfast at hotel. It is time to say farewell! You will have some time at leisure in the morning so you can do some last minute shopping (depending on your flight schedule) and at the proper hour, you will be met at your hotel and transferred to the airport to take your flight back to Lima where you will connect back home.
