5 Chapter 1: Getting Started This chapter offers system requirements and steps you should review before installing Abila Grant Management. System Requirements The latest system requirements are available at You should meet or exceed the system requirements before you install the application. Before You Begin For optimum results, perform the following tasks before running the installation program: 1. If installing SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition with Advanced Services, or SQL Server 2012, be sure to install Reporting Services. If you need to install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition with Advanced Services, visit the Microsoft website at Select x86 or x64 and click Download to begin the installation. Important! Be sure to install SQL Server Reporting Services. This feature is required for Abila Grant Management. Evaluation and/or trial copies of Microsoft SQL Server are not recommended or supported. Check any existing instances of SQL Server to ensure proper functionality before installing Abila Grant Management. Start the SQL Server Browser and Reporting Services and consider setting the Start Mode to Automatic. If the Windows Firewall is turned on, you must configure exceptions in the Firewall for SQL Server or the client computer(s) will not be able to connect. Note: Windows Firewall is turned on by default with Windows Server 2008 and is set to block remote connections. See "Install on a Single Server" (page 4) for more information. 1

6 Chapter 1: Getting Started 2. After SQL Server is installed, verify that the following are installed: Microsoft.NET Framework Version 4.5 Full Profile must be installed on both the web and database servers. Important! If the.net framework is not installed, the installation wizard cannot continue. You must exit the wizard and restart it after you install the.net framework version 4.5. Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.5 must be installed on the web server. The Abila Grant Management installation will attempt to install IIS if it is not already installed. 3. The user logged on to the server machine must be a member of the Local Administrators group. 4. Please turn off User Account Controls. 5. Close any open windows. After performing these steps, you are ready to run the Installation program. Choose to complete either "Single Server Installation" (page 4) or "Dual Server Installation" (page 17) depending on your system configuration. Abila Auto Update Downloads includes Abila Auto Update as part of its installation. Abila Auto Update will notify you when there are important updates to your Abila products, and when your Abila Maintenance Plan plan needs to be renewed. Note: You cannot use Sage Advisor Update to download Version This version of the product must be downloaded from the Abila product download site. Future versions of Abila Grant Management will be available from Abila Auto Update. Use the following steps to download updates from Abila Auto Update. For more information about Abila Auto Update, see the Abila Auto Update User Guide. 1. To start Abila Auto Update, perform one of the following steps: Click the icon in the Start menu (Start>All Programs>Abila>Auto Update). Click the icon in the notification area of the Windows task bar. You can also right-click on the system tray icon to open Abila Auto Update or to stop the service. 2. Click Manage Updates in the navigation pane. 2

7 Abila Auto Update Downloads 3. To refresh the list, click Check for Updates. Note: If your Abila Maintenance Plan has expired for a product, the updates for that product will be listed, but you will not be able to install them. You must renew your business care plan or obtain an override code to install the updates. 4. Mouse over the product name to view the update details, or click on the Release Details link to view a web page that contains more information about the update. 5. The Maintenance Plan Status icon shows the status of your maintenance plan for each product. If the product is nearing expiration ( ) or expired ( ), you can manage Abila Auto Update for each product as follows: a. Hold your mouse over the status icon to view the plan expiration date. b. Click the Renewal Information link in the status pop-up to visit the renewal site. c. If available, you can click the Chat with Abila link in the status pop-up to start an online chat with Abila Customer Support. d. Go to the Abila Maintenance Window to enter an override code that lets you continue operating the product while until your maintenance plan is renewed. You can obtain the override code from your Abila sales representative. 6. To manually download and install updates, select the check box for the product line update you need, and then click Download Only. 7. When the download process completes, Abila Auto Update displays a message that shows the location of the downloaded files. 8. Review the information in the History window to make sure the installation process completed for all selected updates. 3

8 Chapter 2: Single Server Installation This chapter includes specific instructions on how to install on one database/web server. If you have two servers, a database server and a web server, complete the steps in, see "Dual Server Installation" (page 17)instead. Install on a Single Server This section starts the installation process for the application on a single database/web server. There is only one executable (SETUP.EXE) for this install. 1. To download, use one of the following methods: Click the link to the update in Abila Auto Update. For more information about using Abila Auto Update, see Abila Auto Update Downloads. Click the link in the you received from your Abila sales representative to open the Abila Grant Management download page. To install Version 2014.x, select the appropriate download link. 2. The system automatically runs SETUP.EXE.The installation menu displays 4

9 Chapter 2: Single Server Installation the Setup tab. 3. Review the following documents: Quick Start,, and System Requirements. You can print these documents or review them online. 4. Do you have SQL Server 2008 R2 installed on your database/web server? If No, click the SQL Server Express Installation option. If Yes, click Begin Installation Process options. SQL Server Express Installation Use this section to install the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition with Advanced Services data management system. If SQL Server 2008 R2 is already installed on this server, skip this step and click Begin Installation Process on the Setup tab. If SQL Server 2008 R2 has not been installed, click the SQL Server Express Installation to install the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition with Advanced Services. You will be directed to the Microsoft website at Select x86 or x64 and click Download to begin the installation. 5

10 Install on a Single Server Important! Be sure to install SQL Server Reporting Services. This feature is required for Abila Grant Management. The SQL Express installation creates the \All Programs\Microsoft SQL Server directory. By default, this directory is located on the local drive on which your operating system is installed.> Once the download is complete, you can return to the Setup tab, and continue the installation process by clicking Begin Installation Process. Begin Installation Process Before you begin, you must ensure the following: The user logged on to the server machine must be a member of the Local Administrators group. If SQL Server 2008 R2 has not been installed, select the SQL Server Express Installation to install the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition with Advanced Services. See "Install Abila Grant Management on a Single Server" (page 4) for installation steps. Note: Evaluation and/or trial copies of Microsoft SQL Server are not recommended or supported at this time. Verify that SQL Server Browser and Reporting Services are turned on. 6

11 Chapter 2: Single Server Installation Option 1. Install All Components on the Database/Web Server Use the following steps to install the database and web components on the same server: 1. Select Begin Installation Process to display the Setup Options tab. 2. Select Option 1. Install All Components on the Database/Web Server, since SQL Server with Reporting Services and IIS are installed on the same server, and begin the installation. 7

Before the Database Server can be installed, the installation wizard installs a shared management object for your SQL Server installation. These components are required for to run. Click Install to continue. 4. The installation wizard verifies that.net version 4.5 Full Profile is installed. If you have not installed that prerequisite, the wizard issues a message and exits. You must install the.net framework and run the installation again. 5. (Database) Welcome panel opens. Click Next to continue, or click Cancel to exit the installation process. 8

13 Chapter 2: Single Server Installation 6. When you click Next, the Abila End User License Agreement opens. Be sure to carefully read the License Agreement. Use the scroll bar on the right to view the entire agreement. Click the Print button to print the license agreement. 7. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement, and click Next to continue the installation. The system opens the Product Registration panel. 9

14 Install on a Single Server 8. Enter the Serial Number and Activation Code. The activation code is case sensitive, so it must be entered exactly as it appears on the Your Abila Grant Management Activation Code notification. Activation The activation code is determined by the system s license. The system uses the Code activation code to determine how many organizations and how many Regular, Executive, Admin, and Super users you have purchased. Later, if you decide to increase your users or organizations, you need to enter a new activation code. To enter a new activation code, use the Settings>System>Activation Code page. To add users to an existing database, use the Settings>Users & Security>Add Userpage. Important! Store the activation code in a safe place in case your system needs to be reinstalled. Also, keep your Serial Number handy in case you need to contact Customer Support. 9. Click Next. The system opens the Database Server panel. 10. Select the Database Server name for the database. (This information will be stored in the application and is viewable using Settings>System>System Configuration.) Use Browse to search for local servers. 10

15 Chapter 2: Single Server Installation 11. Select how you want to connect to the database server. If Server authentication is chosen, enter the Login ID and Password. 12. Click Next. The system prompts you to confirm the Database Server installation. 13. Click Install to begin installing the Database Server. During the installation, the system displays status messages that indicate the progress of the installation process. When the installation is complete, the Completed panel opens. 11

16 Install on a Single Server 14. Click Finish to complete the database server installation. The Agent Installation Wizard opens. 15. Click Next to begin the Agent installation. The system prompts you to confirm the Agent installation. 12

17 Chapter 2: Single Server Installation 16. Click Install to begin installing the Agent. A script window opens during the installation, and a progress bar displays. When the installation is complete, the Completed panel opens. 17. Click Finish. The (Web Server) Welcome panel opens. 13

18 Install on a Single Server 18. Click Install to begin installing the (Web Server). The Use Default Website? panel opens. 19. Accept the default website, or clear the checkbox to enter an alternate host name for Abila Grant Management. 14

19 Chapter 2: Single Server Installation Note: Abila recommends you use the default website. However, if you use the IIS server for multiple sites, you can enter an alternate host name. If you specify an alternate host name, that name is used when you launch in the web browser. 20. Click Next to continue the installation process. The system prompts you to confirm the Web Server installation. 21. Click Install to continue. A progress bar displays while the installation process builds the web site, and resets IIS. Several script windows open and close during the process. 22. When the installation is complete, the Finish panel opens. 23. Click Finish. 24. The installation wizard might also install Abila Auto Update, if the current version of that utility is not already on the system. The installation process for Abila Auto Update does not remove Sage Advisor Update from your computer, since you may have other Sage products installed. If you wish to uninstall Sage Advisor Update, you can do so by using Windows Start Menu>Control Panel>Programs and Features. 25. The final installation message displays Changes to your system have been completed, with a list of the components that have been installed. 15

20 Install on a Single Server This is the final panel of the program installation. It verifies that was installed successfully. Note: This message can open behind the setup options window. If necessary, minimize the setup options window to find the completion message. 26. Click OK to close the message To open, open your web browser and go to name} /grantmanagement/default.aspx. The first time that the application is launched through your browser, Microsoft Silverlight attempts to auto install. This component is required for all client computers accessing. Notes: If you installed the web site with an Alternate Host Name, that name is used as the server name in the URL. If you are upgrading from a previous version of, you may need to clear your browser cache the first time you open Version 2014.x. Supported browsers include Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari for Macintosh. Be sure to set up your Internet Security options on your browser properly. 21 Chapter 3: Dual Server Installation This chapter includes specific instructions on how to install on two servers: a database server and a web server. If you have one server, a database/web server, complete the steps in "Single Server Installation" (page 4) instead. Install on Dual Servers This section describes the installation process for the application with two separate servers. There is only one executable (SETUP.EXE) for this installation, which must be run on both the database and web servers. Download Note: You must repeat this task for both the database server and web server. The installation file is the same for both servers. 1. To download, use one of the following methods: Click the link to the update in Abila Auto Update. For more information about using Abila Auto Update, see Abila Auto Update Downloads. Click the link in the you received from your Abila sales representative to open the Abila Grant Management download page. To install Version 2014.x, select the appropriate download link. 2. The system automatically runs SETUP.EXE.The installation menu displays 17

Install the Web Components on the Web Server Before you begin, you must ensure the following: The user logged on to the server machine must be a member of the Local Administrators group, as well as an Administrator on the database server. Verify that Microsoft.NET Framework of 4.5 Full or higher and Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.5 or higher are installed. Confirm the location and access to the database server. Use the following steps to install the web components on the web server. 1. Download the installation software to the web server as described in Download Abila Grant Management. 2. The system automatically runs the SETUP.EXE. Then, the menu displays on the Setup tab. 27

32 Chapter 3: Dual Server Installation 3. Select the Begin Installation Process to display the Setup Options tab. 4. Select Option 2, Step 2. Install the Web Components on the Web Server to begin the installation, which is specific to the web server. 28

33 Install on Dual Servers 5. The system verifies the ASP.NET and Internet Information Services (IIS) versions. If your web server does not have the latest versions, click Install to have install them. Note: If IIS or ASP.NET is installed by, you might be prompted to restart your server. The (Web Server) Welcome panel displays. 29

34 Chapter 3: Dual Server Installation 6. Click Next to continue the installation process. The Ready to Install the Program panel displays. 7. Click Install to begin installing the (Web Server). The Use Default Website? panel displays. 30

36 Chapter 3: Dual Server Installation To open, open your web browser and go to name} /grantmanagement/default.aspx. The first time that the application is launched through your browser, Microsoft Silverlight attempts to auto install. This component is required for all client computers accessing. Notes: If you installed the web site with an Alternate Host Name, that name is used as the server name in the URL. 37 Chapter 4: Upgrading This chapter includes specific instructions on how to upgrade the existing for either a single server (see "Upgrading - Single Server" (page 35)) or dual servers (see "Upgrading - Dual Servers" (page 45)). Before you Begin 1. Verify the system configuration before starting the upgrade. Open the system and login as the system administrator. Using Settings>System>System Configuration, verify the Database/Reporting Server name, IIS Server name, the reporting instance name, verify which installation to use (single or dual server install), and version information. Note: To upgrade to version 2014.x, you must have Abila Grant Management 1.8 or later installed. If you have an earlier version of the product installed, contact your Abila Sales Representative. 2. Verify that the following are installed: SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition with Advanced Services, or SQL Server 2012, be sure to install Reporting Services. 38 Chapter 4: Upgrading Important! maps grant programs to a specific program period. If you are upgrading your system from from or earlier, the installation process updates the database records to include a program period for each program within a grant. If your existing grants support multiple programs, or program periods, you will need to update your grant records to include this mapping the first time you attempt to save the grant period information. The upgrade to version 2014.x also rebrands the product from Sage to Abila, including the database names used by. SQL Server may retain some database files with the Sage name (for example,.mdf and.ldf files). You can rename these files with the Abila prefix to avoid confusion, but it is not necessary to do so. 40 Chapter 4: Upgrading Use the following steps to upgrade the database and web components on the same server: 1. Select Begin Installation Process to display the Setup Options tab. 2. Select Option 1. Install All Components on the Database/Web Server, since SQL Server with Reporting Services and IIS are installed on the same server, and begin the installation. 36

41 Upgrading - Single Server 3. The installation wizard prompts you to confirm this installation will upgrade the database components. Click Yes to continue the upgrade, or No to cancel the installation. 4. If you are upgrading from version 2013 or earlier, the Perpetuum Reporting Services 2008 Rendering Extension for Silverlight Viewer begins uninstalling. A message box indicates you may need to restart SSRS to apply the changes. Click OK. Note: Perpetuum Reporting Services have been replaced in the version 2014.x with the Microsoft Report Viewer. 5. The installation wizard opens. Before the Database Server can be installed, the installation wizard installs a shared management object for your SQL Server installation. These components are required for to run. Click Install to continue. 6. The installation wizard verifies that.net version 4.5 Full Profile is installed. The system uses the Code activation code to determine how many organizations and how many Regular, Executive, Admin, and Super users you have purchased. Later, if you decide to increase your users or organizations, you need to enter a new activation code. To enter a new activation code, use the Settings>System>Activation Code page. To add users to an existing database, use the Settings>Users & Security>Add User page. Important! Store the activation code in a safe place in case your system needs to be reinstalled. Also, keep your Serial Number handy in case you need to contact Customer Support. 11. Click Next. The system opens the Database Server Login panel. 12. Select the Database Server name where you are installing the database. (This information will be stored in the application and is viewable using Settings>System>System Configuration.) Use Browse to search for local servers. 39

The system prompts you to confirm the Web Server installation. 23. Click Install to continue. A progress bar displays while the installation process builds the web site, and resets IIS. When the installation is complete, the Finish panel opens. 24. Click Finish. 25. The installation wizard might also install Abila Auto Update, if the current version of that utility is not already on the system. Note: If your server has Sage Advisor Update installed, it will not be removed when Abila Auto Update is installed, since you may have other Sage products on the server. If you want to remove Sage Advisor Update, you must do so from the Windows Control Panel. 26. Click OK to close the message. To open, open your web browser and go to name} /grantmanagement/default.aspx. The first time that the application is launched through your browser, Microsoft Silverlight attempts to auto install. This component is required for all client computers accessing. Notes: If you installed the web site with an Alternate Host Name, that name is used as the server name in the URL. If you are upgrading from a previous version of, you may need to clear your browser cache the first time you open Version 2014.x. Supported browsers include Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari for Macintosh. Be sure to set up your Internet Security options on your browser properly. For supported browser versions, see the system requirements at Upgrading - Dual Servers This section describes the upgrade process for the application with two separate servers. There is only one executable (SETUP.EXE) for this process, which must be run on both the database and web servers. Review Upgrading - Before you Begin before performing the upgrade. Make sure you have downloaded the current release of according to the instructions in "Download " (page 34) 45

50 Chapter 4: Upgrading Install the Database Components on the Database Server Use the following steps to install the database server components: 1. Select the Begin Installation Process to display the Setup Options tab. 2. Select Option 2, Step 1. Install the Database Components on the Database Server to begin the installation of the database server. 46

51 Upgrading - Dual Servers 3. If you are upgrading from version 2013.x or earlier, the Perpetuum Reporting Services 2008 Rendering Extension for Silverlight Viewer begins uninstalling. Click OK. Note: Perpetuum Reporting Services have been replaced in the product with the Microsoft Report Viewer. 4. The installation wizard opens. Before the Database Server can be installed, the installation wizard installs a shared management object for your SQL Server installation. These components are required for to run. Click Install to continue. 5. The installation wizard verifies that.net version 4.5 Full Profile is installed. If you have not installed that prerequisite, the wizard issues a message and exits. You must install the.net framework and run the installation again. 6. (Database) Welcome panel opens. Click Next to continue, or click Cancel to exit the installation process. 47

52 Chapter 4: Upgrading 7. When you click Next, the Abila End User License Agreement opens. Be sure to carefully read the License Agreement. Use the scroll bar on the right to view the entire agreement. Click the Print button to print the license agreement. 8. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement, and click Next to continue the installation. The system opens the Product Registration panel. 48

53 Upgrading - Dual Servers 9. Enter the Serial Number and Activation Code. The activation code is case sensitive, so it must be entered exactly as it appears on the Your Abila Grant Management Activation Code notification. Install the Web Components on the Web Server Before you begin, you must ensure the following: The user logged on to the server machine must be a member of the Local Administrators group, as well as an Administrator on the database server. Verify that Microsoft.NET Framework of 4.5 Full or higher and Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.5 or higher are installed. Confirm the location and access to the database server. Use the following steps to install the web components on the web server. 1. Download the installation software to the web server as described in Download Abila Grant Management. 2. The system automatically runs the SETUP.EXE. Then, the menu displays on the Setup tab. 53

63 Chapter 5: Uninstalling This chapter describes how to uninstall the system. Uninstall Steps The following components must be uninstalled: Reporting Services 2008 Rendering Extension for Silverlight Viewer Agent Web Server Database Server Notes: Your Internet Information Services (IIS) and ASP.Net configurations will still remain after you have uninstalled. If you specify an alternate host name when you install Abila Grant Management, Uninstalling does not remove your data. The SQL Server databases remain in place after the uninstall process is complete. To Remove and associated programs: 1. Go to Start>Control Panel. 2. Click Programs>Uninstall a program or Programs and Features. 3. Select Reporting Services 2008 Rendering Extension for Silverlight Viewer, and then click Uninstall. 4. Click Yes to confirm you want to uninstall the product. 5. When the uninstall process is finished for the reporting services component, select Abila Grant Management Agent, and click Uninstall. 6. Click Yes to confirm you want to uninstall the agent component. 59

64 Chapter 5: Uninstalling Note: If you receive a File in Use message showing the Agent file needs to be updated, select the Automatically close and attempt to restart application option and click OK. 7. When the uninstall process is finished for the agent component, select (Web Server), and then click Uninstall. 8. Click Yes to confirm you want to uninstall the web server component. Note: 1. When the uninstall process is finished for the web server component, select Abila Grant Management (Database), and then click Uninstall. 2. Click Yes to confirm you want to uninstall the database component. When the process to remove the database component is complete, you have finished removing Abila Grant Management. If necessary, you can continue to access your data by using the SQL Server Management Studio to view the databases directly. 60
