1 VOICE RATES 2015 FILM & TELEVISION Guidelines covering ADR work for PACT Independent TV Productions and Cinema Films have now been replaced by agreements covering such work in both these areas of work. This is a major step forward as previously they were not part of the agreements and were only guidelines. CINEMA FILMS AGREEMENT ADR (Additional Dialogue Replacement or Automatic Dialogue Replacement) is not predominantly concerned with performance in character but is to do with the creation of atmosphere and general characteristics sounds and dialogue to fit with action, often over crowd scenes. Special terms apply to A.D.R. sessions. 1. If non-specific work only is required in a session and no more than ten words are spoken relating specifically to on screen scenes then the ADR Artist may be booked under the terms of the PACT/FAA Employment of Crowd Artistes, stand-ins and Doubles Agreement, if applicable. If more than ten words are spoken, individually or together, then the ADR rate set out in paragraph 3 below should be applied. 2. The minimum fee for a four-hour session is 267. The fee shall entitle the Producer to incorporate the ADR Artist s performance into the Film and to exploit it throughout the world in all media in perpetuity. 3. In an ADR session an ADR Artist may be required to do the following: a) Provide general vocalisation and dialogue to match the on screen picture including battle cries, screams and non specific conversation. b) Create dialogue to synchronise with the movements of specific on-screen figures. c) Perform provided script material for specific on-screen figures. d) Use specific individual skills and abilities such as vocal musical, accents and languages etc. plus specialist knowledge to create authentic period sounds and dialogue equestrian, military, maritime, historic, religious etc. Provide additional non-specific wild-tracks. e) Post-sync an individual line of dialogue provided it is not that of a featured Artist, in which case the terms of Appendix FE should be applied. ADR Artists shall not receive Net Profit Share or Royalty Payments. Low Budget or Very Low Budget Films, the minimum session fee shall be 87 and the provisions of Appendix FF clauses 4 and 5 shall also apply. This is limited only to those Low Budget Films registered with PACT. Further details: Laura Messenger, Tel: INDEPENDENT TV PRODUCTIONS Commissioned by ITV, C4 and BBC Productions 1. There is a category of post-production sound work commonly called A.D.R. The minimum fee for a four hour session is 177 In return for this payment the Producer acquires the right to one UK network terrestrial transmission plus worldwide non-theatric rights. 3. For a further payment of 20% of the session fee ( 35) the Producer acquires the right to two more UK network terrestrial transmissions plus all other UK rights, including but not limited to, theatric rights, video rights, UK secondary TV rights. 1

For a further payment of 10% of the session fee ( 18) the Producer acquires all rights of exploitation outside the UK including, but not limited to, theatric rights, video rights, secondary television rights. 5. Multi-episodic payments apply as follows: a. When material for more than one episode is recorded during a session an additional fee equal to 33.33% of the basic session fee ( 59) shall be paid for use of the material in a second episode. b. When material for more than two episodes is recorded during a session further additional fees equal to 20% of the basic recording fee ( 35) shall be paid for each additional episode after the second. 6. In an ADR session an artist may be required to do the following: a. Provide general vocalisation and dialogue to match the on-screen picture including battle cries, screams and non specific conversation. b. Create dialogue to synchronise with the movements of specific on-screen figures. c. To perform provided script material for specific on screen figures. d. To use specific individual skills and abilities such as vocal musical, accents and languages etc plus specialist knowledge to create authentic period sounds and dialogue equestrian, military, maritime, historic, religious etc. e. To provide additional non-specific wild-tracks for the production. f. To post-sync an individual line of dialogue provided it is not that of a featured artist, in which case the terms of Appendix TB should be applied. NOTE: If non-specific work only is required in a session and no more than ten words are spoken relating specifically to on screen scenes then the artist may be booked under the terms of the PACT/FAA Employment of Crowd Artistes, Stand-Ins and Doubles Agreement, if applicable. If more than ten words are spoken, individually or together, then the ADR rate for this work should be applied. Further details: John Barclay, Tel: EQUITY GUIDE NOTE TO ARTISTS AND AGENTS ON ABOVE The additional fee of 59, added to the basic fee of 176 making a total fee of 229. For the recording of the second episode in one session would automatically entitle the producer to the use of that material as set out in item 2 of the agreement, i.e. one UK network terrestrial transmission plus worldwide non-theatric rights. If the producer wishes at the time of the recording session to acquire the rights as set out in item 3 and 4 of the agreement, then a further 33.33% of the appropriate fees as set out in items 3 and 4 would be applicable. The new fee of 229 for the purchase of the rights detailed in paragraphs 2 and 3 for the recording of one episode in a session would be increased to a fee of for the recording of two episodes in one session etc. BBC TV AGREEMENT Voice only performances a minimum fee of 205 (session of 5 hours including one hour break). Overtime per hour or part thereof. Maximum of two hours overtime. A new session after two hours. Dramatised readings for documentary, features etc as above. BBC may record and edit any number of items, placing them in up to 13 episodes of a series. The minimum fee for post-synchronisation, if outside of the overall engagement period 200. Additional payments are made for overseas sales, videos etc. The above fees cover one UK terrestrial broadcast. ITV AGREEMENT 1. Artists post-synching own performance. Second call basis minimum (4hrs session over 5) 2. Sound only recordings (voiceovers) Drama programmes only two hour session for one programme/episode only minimum (more than two hours new session fee) Documentary, educational, religious, instructional, critical and magazine programmes - Four hour session from which material may be used in: 1 6 programmes minimum programmes minimum 2

4 MISC FOREIGN VERSION DUBBING Minimum session fee (four hours). This fee applies to work not covered by our agreements in television and cinema and is limited to foreign version dubbing only and does not apply to productions where the dubbing is English onto English. Two hour session. The minimum fee is 120. The session is limited to actors who have not previously worked in this field or in the case of experienced dubbers the session may be used for one principal role only or alternatively for several small characters in a single production. SPOKEN VOICE RECORDINGS FOR EDUCATIONAL NON-BROADCAST USE Please note that the guidelines below will apply from 1 st April 2015: Band A = Linear audio recordings irrespective of the platform for delivery, and in relation to a specific title Minimum fee of 193 Minimum fee of 324 Minimum solo fee of 231 Minimum solo fee of 387 half- day session full day session half- day session full day session Band B = Non-linear audio recordings irrespective of the platform for delivery, and in relation to a specific title Half day rate 230 Full day rate 383 Band C = Complete Buy Out and enables the publisher to use the recorded material in any format, medium, or publication, or to re-use it in other titles published by the publisher Half day rate 280 Full day rate 495 Band D = Dictionary & Database Half day rate 309 Full day rate 555 To comply with the European Working Time Directive the above fee includes holiday payments. This covers the ruling for those on contracts of less than 13 weeks. Hours of work Half-day engagement Full day engagement hours including ½ hour break - 8 hours including 2 hour break Overtime Overtime payable at per 15 minutes, with maximum of ½ hour overtime on a half-day session, and one hour on a full day session. Limitation and safeguards (a) (b) Material recorded for each three hours of work not more than one hours material shall be recorded Use of recording - The use to which a recording will be put shall be stated on each individual contract Improvisation - Where improvisation is used for a substantial part of the session (i.e. 40% or more) an additional fee of will be paid to each artist involved. 5 VOICEOVER RATES FOR COMPUTER GAMES Voice-Overs refer to those Artists who are engaged solely for the purpose of voice-over, revoicing and/or commentary out of vision where the Artist is required to perform as a character for the purpose of dramatized material or voicing over dramatizes sequences, but shall not mean post-synchronization or dubbing of the Artist s own part. Voice-Overs Producer shall engage Voice-Over performers at a minimum rate of 477 per session, which shall be not greater than 4 hours in length. Producer shall be entitled to extend the session by up to 30 minutes upon payment to the Voice-Over Artist of 45. If additional time is required, Producer shall be required to engage the Voice-Over Artist for an additional 4-hour sessions at 477. An interval of at least 15 minutes shall be allowed approximately half-way through the session. An unpaid meal break of at least one hour shall be allowed between sessions. If remote delivery rights required, a further 100% BSF to be paid. Interactive Device/Games Session To obtain Remote Delivery Rights, a further payment of 100% of the total basic session fee shall be made. Note: Remote Delivery the right to access the interactive product by way of delivery systems which are in communication with a computer (for example, telephone lines, cable or any other type of electronic delivery service). To obtain Integration Rights, a further payment of 100% of the total session fees shall be made. Note: Integration Rights the right to include the recorded material into one or more different versions, adaptations or titles of the interactive product. Further details from: John Barclay: NON BROADCAST VIDEO RATES SELL THROUGH (produced for commercial exploitation) 150 per hour, plus 100% of the total aggregate fees paid, for either 3 years use (sales) only, or per tranche of 5000 units sold, whichever is reached the earlier. EDUCATIONAL (produced for purchase or exhibition e.g. health centres, schools, museums, information centres etc.) 125 per hour, plus 100% of the total aggregate fees paid, for 3 years public exhibition use. CORPORATE (produced for non broadcast, usually for showing to Company Sales Force, or as an in house training video.) NB. The term corporate is often used to describe product that DOES NOT come into this category e.g. Advertising, In Store/Branch promotional use. Therefore it is always advisable to investigate further as to what is meant by corporate use in each individual case. 125 per hour which includes use for 3 years. 5
