Box 187 Marion, Ia Phone: Description VISION The intern will serve in an active leadership role within the Student Ministry by partnering in the ministry of the Youth Pastor and gaining hands on ministry experience in a thriving ministry. ANTIOCH CHRISTIAN CHURCH Antioch Christian Church is a fast growing church in Marion, Ia, a subburb of Cedar Rapids, Ia. Antioch is listed in the top 50 Christian Churches in the Christian Standard magazine this year. We average 1500 in attendance each week and minister to over 230 students. We have a very healthy ministry staff environment accompanied by a very healthy church atmosphere. We have a new building with everything to have an effective ministry. There will not be to many places better to learn in. STUDENT PASTOR MENTOR: Evan Osgood Evan is a graduate from Ozark Christian College and has been ministering to students for 18 years (some might call him a veteran, but he feels he is just getting started). He has experience ministering in small, medium, and mega sized churches and can offer insight on how to succeed in each to prepare the intern for life in ministry, wherever that leads. Evan is passionate about students, passionate about the church, and passionate about doing ministry right. Evan has also been published in the book When God makes Lemonade. CANDIDATE COMMITMENT 3 months with possibility for a 6 months up to 1 year Residency: An evaluation will be done after 3 months to discuss extending the residency if desired by resident. Start Time: June 2017 COMPENSATION Negotiable All meals provided through host family and various other families.

2 OBJECTIVES Calling Intern will be able to affirm his/her calling to ministry by experiencing ministry first hand and discussing the realities of ministry with those currently involved in ministry. Theological Philosophy Implementation Intern will be able to directly apply doctrine and theological reflection to a philosophy of ministry in real pastoral situations. Spiritual Development Intern will discern that the ability to pastor flows from a relationship with Jesus Christ and dependence upon the Holy Spirit for guidance. Intern will learn to stay spiritually healthy through the rigors of ministry. Skill Development - Intern will develop the necessary skills to minister in today s world. Intern will serve in different capacities to gain a better understanding of strengths and weakness in ministry. Real Ministry Impact Intern s contributions will have an intentional impact on the quality of our ministry. GENERAL EXPECTATIONS Office Ø The intern will be expected to have the following office hours Monday-Thursday 9am 4pm Intern will have Friday and Saturday (when available) as a day off. Sunday 7:30am-1:30pm and 3:00pm 8:00pm Attendance at events and leadership meetings outside of office hours. Ø The intern will meet every week with student pastor to discuss the internship. Ø Written evaluation of what intern has learned each quarter. Education Ø The Intern will read 2 books throughout the internship chosen by the student pastor. The intern will report on insights he/she has gained from the reading. Ø Intern will receive credit hours toward their degree program EVALUATION After the first month of the internship, the intern, student pastor meet to evaluate and discuss the internship to that point. Adjustments will be made and goals set for the next 2 months. We will follow any other requirements by the students college for course credit.

3 OTHER EXPECTATIONS Ø The intern will follow the staff policies set for the rest of the staff. Ø The intern will be accountable to Student Pastor for issues of schedule, leadership growth, ministry development and spiritual development. The Student Pastor will take the lead in the ministry development of the intern. Ø Intern will sign a covenant to represent the beliefs of ACC. BENEFITS TO INTERN Ø Learn to develop, evaluate, and implement a ministry philosophy and plan. Ø Experience a variety of ministries in a growing church setting. Ø Learn to disciple students through an intentional growth process using different ministry methods. Ø Develop planning and communication skills that will benefit intern in future ministries. Ø Work with a dynamic and gifted staff of ministers and volunteer leaders. Ø Learn to work with a team of volunteer leaders. Ø Gain hands on experience with students in relationships, discipleship, and counseling with guidance of student ministry staff. Ø Learn to work within a budget for a growing ministry. Ø Network with other effective youth ministers in the area as well as nationally from big and small Churches. Ø Work with an experienced student pastor of 16 years. Ø Work in a very forward thinking ministry environment. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM PASTOR OVERSIGHT o Leadership Development Pastor will provide time to develop an understanding of leadership in the context of biblical ministry. o Help set the weekly agenda for the intern. o Handle evaluation process o Deal with issues that arise concerning the intern and discipline issues that arise. o Equip them to do the role they are asked to play. o Spend real time with them. o Pray regularly for and with the intern. o Spiritually mentor them

4 MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES The interns responsibilities will allow them to have intentional leadership experience and overall understanding of ministry This is an idea of the experiences an intern will have through there time with us. Ø Help with general office work Ø Take time weekly for planning with Student Pastor Ø Identify the responsibilities and tasks of a student pastor. Ø Organize programs and projects with intentionality to the big picture. Ø Participate in hospital visitations when opportunity arises. Ø Participate in the process of selecting and recruiting various workers for programs. Ø Teach at Launch and Elevate several times with student pastor providing help and mentoring. Ø Teach a Bible study session for middle school and high school. Ø Planning Senior Graduation Dinner Ø Assist in planning for program Ø Assist in planning Summer schedule Ø Assist in planning Believe, Move, and Fall Retreat Ø Assist in Planning a Parents night Ø Participate in a student small group for both middle school and high school Ø Participate in activities with students Ø Call on students and parents Ø Participate in the student leadership training Ø Assist in developing a combined marketing strategy and materials Ø Assist in plan and coordinate a volunteer recognition banquet for our volunteers RESIDENT QUALIFICATIONS Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior Must be an immersed believer Must be enrolled in a degree program or graduated with a degree and be in good standing academically, and be studying or working toward a full time position in student ministry. Suggested (Desired but not Necessary) Experience in student ministry (previous internships, weekend youth ministries) APPLICATION FOR RESIDENCY Ø 2 Letters of recommendation from pastor, elder, or ministry leader of some kind Ø Letter of recommendation from college of study (professor) Ø Resume including: - Statement of Faith - past Church experiences - personal history - personal Christian testimony - vocational aspirations - education background - work experience - indication of skills (Personality type, Spiritual Gifts, experience skills) - availability (dates available to start and stop internship)

5 SELECTION OF CANDIDATE Ø Evaluation of candidate based upon packet they turn in. Ø Personal visit or Phone Interview with Student Pastor.
