We have services in Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional areas in Victoria. DIVISION DESCRIPTION Through partnerships with people with a disability, their families and the community, Karingal Life Options creates opportunities and choices that inspire and enable the achievement of personal goals. BRANCH DESCRIPTION Accommodation Support Karingal provides both shared supported accommodation and independent living accommodation options. People being supported in accommodation are empowered and enabled to participate in everyday activities and are encouraged to develop and maintain skills associated with daily living. Position Objective: Primary Location: Employment Status/Hours: Position Specifics To provide inspirational leadership and operational management to the McIntyre House accommodation service that will ensure an empowering and enabling environment for people with disabilities which will maximise opportunities for the attainment of personal goals and lifestyles that are valued by the wider community. 2 Position Responsibilities & Duties Person Centred Active Supports Proactively promote a home like environment that enhances the well-being of people with disabilities and is welcoming of families, friends and other visitors. Implement a partnership in care approach to enable optimal health and well-being to be achieved, including the active involvement of people with disabilities, their families and referrers in the identification of health care needs and the training of staff around individual needs and preferences. Ensure a person centred and self directed approach is embedded within the culture of the facility to maximise independence. Develop, review and accurately maintain all resident care/support plans in conjunction with all stakeholders; residents, families and other service providers to ensure health care needs of residents are achieved. Including a range of needs such as behavioural support plans. Assist and support residents in undertaking a range of activities of daily living including; Medication, personal and self-care; Food preparation and mealtime assistance; Dressing and maintenance of personal hygiene. Perform personal support work with professional integrity and ensure the privacy and confidentiality of client information; Working with clients with behaviours of concern, clients with high and complex physical support requirements and clients in palliative care; Undertake physical household tasks with residents participating where possible. Effectively document changes and updates to health and support needs and communicate this to families Measurable Outcomes Evidenced through: Evidence of attainment of enhancement of quality of life for each resident. Observation and feedback Accurate and timely documentation where appropriate Evidence of productive relationships with key stakeholders such as residents, families, community services and other service providers Undertake medication administration and personal care duties with strict adherence to procedure and PCP all of the time. Resident/ Facility Management Undertake program planning and monitoring functions including reviews and written reports as required Ensure the service is provided to respite recipients in a manner that enhances each person s exercise of choice, growth in competence, self-respect and dignity, and promotes the persons participation in community activities whilst respecting confidentiality Support all people with a disability to access the local community Promote a culture that empowers people with disabilities and their families/supporters to be active participants in their support and care Accurate client and administrative documentation maintained and communicated to relevant stakeholders Evidenced by observation and feedback from management, staff members and residents where appropriate Adherence to all Karingal Policies and Procedures to ensure a safe environment for residents. Effective allocation of existing resources to maximise the opportunities for individual residents and creative/innovative strategies to provide further opportunities. 3 Staff Management Develop a productive working relationship to effectively manage up and work under direction of the Team Leader. Foster a continuous improvement culture through effective supervision, communication and support to staff members as directed and in conjunction with the Team Leader. Assist to recruit, induct, develop and support staff working within the facility to ensure that they can meet expectations and support residents. Provide and or Chair and minute regular team meetings. Ensure that all mandatory and client specific training for staff is completed and maintained. Assist the Team Leader to undertake annual staff appraisals and performance management. Ensure that all staff have necessary knowledge and skills to implement individual support plans and provide training to staff develop competence and confidence including core, specialist and client specific health care. Resource Management and Compliance Consult, negotiate and liaise with government and nongovernment agencies and develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with families/supporters, other professionals, businesses and community organisations. Manage service specific buildings, vehicle and equipment. Maintain accurate financial records including household expenditure and individual resident personal expenditure. Prepare and submit monthly reconciliations in accordance with the relevant financial management guidelines. High proficiency in Microsoft Office to uphold administrative duties required for 12 hours per week Ensure that appropriate confidentiality is maintained for both residents and staff at all times. Maintain quality service delivery that optimises the satisfaction of people with disabilities and family/supporters and operates in accordance with the Victorian Standards for Disability Services and within the parameters of relevant Commonwealth and State Legislation. Ensure services are delivered within budget and on time Occupational Health and Safety Provide and maintain a safe environment for all stakeholders Ensure all OH&S policies and procedures are implemented Ensure all staff are educated and adhere to Karingal OH&S policy and procedures, legislation and ISO requirements Minimise and or eliminate all risks that present in adherence to Karingal OH&S policy and procedure Report all hazards, incidents and injuries in a timely and accurate manner to appropriate stakeholders Adherence to all Karingal Policies and Procedures to ensure a safe working environment for staff Staff and client documentation is maintained accurately and communicated to all stakeholders via various means as appropriate Evidence of person centred and active support approaches being utilised when providing staff with direction for resident services Successful adherence to Disability Standards as evidenced through internal and external audits. Evidence of positive relationships with all keystakeholders residents, families, government, community agencies, health services etc. Ensure major and minor equipment is maintained at a safe and clean level according to guidelines and via a maintenance schedule and CIR process. Timely and accurate completion of Karingal Financial reporting requirements. 4 Professional Training and Development Attend and participate in Accommodation Support Leadership forums as required Actively participate in individual supervision and staff performance review; implementing actions that arise Participate and attend Development Days and Karingal in house training as required Ensure that mandatory training and compliance requirements are completed and maintained Seek positions and opportunities to enhance the culture and reputation of Accommodation Support Use community networks to promote community inclusion and participation where appropriate Complete higher duties as Team Leader in a relieving capacity throughout the Geelong region as required Attendance at team meetings and appropriate forums Documented evidence of completed training, staff performance review supervision in a timely manner Completion of Acting Team Leader when required across multiple houses General Be on-call after hours to receive phone calls from and provide support to staff during unexpected events. Ability to work unsupervised in challenging environments Successful completion of Police Check Working with Children Check if working with persons under 18 years old Supply own vehicle reliable for client transport.
