2 Abstract This document describes UPLM component for Joomla, it functionality, installation procedure and usage.

3 Chapter I. UPLM Introduction Introduction of UPLM component functionality, compatibility and licensing. 1) What is UPLM UPLM is a joomla! Component that generates and allows creation of simple product listing directory 2) Why UPLM? If you need to display your products on your Joomla site and you do not sell the products through the website, the Universal Product Listing Manager option will allow you to manage all your products without the complexity of a shopping cart checkout system. You will be able to add, modify, and delete the products as well as the product categories. UPLM help you to manage your documents very effectively with multiple level categories system and visual administration interface. 3) Compatibility UPLM is a component for Joomla! CMS, therefore it requires Joomla! to run. It is available for now in one and unique edition: Current available version is UPLM for Joomla!2.5. UPLM also needs PHP version or higher, the 5.2.x is recommended. GD Library versions greater than gd-1.6 4) Software License The most actual version of the UPLM licensing conditions can be found at Universal Informatique website. By installing and using this software, you agree to bind to the mentioned license conditions.

4 5) Main Features The following features are included with the Universal Product Listing Manager component: a) A category manager: will allow you to add/modify/delete the product categories on the site. You will be able to modify the title, description, image, order, parent category (if applicable), and visibility status of each category. b) A product manager: will allow you to add/modify/delete the products on the site. You will be able to modify the category, item number, title, short description, full description, price, product availability, and visibility status for each product. c) A photo gallery manager: integrated with edit view of product form will allow you to add or delete the photos for each product listed in your product manager. You will be able to set an image caption with each image as well as to select a default image that will be used as the main image for the product.

5 d) A currencies manager : will allow you to add/modify/delete currencies to be used later in product form e) A frontpage manager : with this administration interface you can enable or disable products shown to Frontpage view

6 f) A type manager : will allow you to add/modify/delete the product types g) A configuration interface: Where you can set the size of product images, the template used, the name of your directory...

7 I. Chapter II. Installing UPLM 1) Obtaining UPLM You can obtain UPLM by downloading from Universal Informatique webpage. The method of obtaining it may differ on whether you want. If you are a subscribed user you can download the latest version of the component after connecting to the site from the download section. If you are not a subscribed user, just choose your subscription from the product page "Universal Product listing manager" pay your support subscription and the download link will be sent immediately by UPLM is distributed as installable Joomla! ZIP package. 2) Starting Installation Checklist before install: Check the write permissions on Joomla directories, see Help System Info Directory permissions Log-in to your Joomla! backend with Super Administrator privileges Go to Extensions Extension Manager Under tab Install, in Upload package file select the distribution ZIP package and click Upload File & Install 3) Uninstallation To start uninstallation: log-in to your Joomla! backend with Super Administrator privileges go to Extensions Extension Manager under Manage tab select the UPLM component and click Uninstall button in the toolbar uninstallation should complete automatically Uninstallation will remove all the parts installed during Installation, however it will not remove the tables from the database Database tables: # uplm_categories ; # uplm_config ; # uplm_currencies ; # uplm_frontpage ; # uplm_products ; # uplm_product_images; # uplm_types

How It Works As with any software product management, UPLM has a management interface To add new products, you must begin by: Add a new category : In the category manager you can clic on add new button on the toolbar to be redirected to the form «add new category», Fill in all the form fields and save Add a new product type : In the type manager you can clic on add new button on the toolbar to be redirected to the form «add new type», Fill in all the form fields and save Add new currency : In the currencies manager you can clic on add new button on the toolbar to be redirected to the form «add new currency», Fill in all the form fields and save Then from the interface products management, add a new product Fill in all the form fields and save product of course, you can assign the new product's a main image and add more images to the gallery (you can add a number of images you want) for better display it is recomended to use images of the same size Note: Image is not assigned to a product only if that image a name as shown in the following image, the fields "name" must be completed for the image to be registered with the product.
