2 Sportverein is the German word for sports club. As a Sportverein we are registered in the German Register of Associations in the Local District Court. This means that everybody has access to it, not only students from ISS. Our successful program is growing from year to year. We have built partnerships with different schools and sport clubs to increase our program and to have more children from the German community joining our Sportverein. If your child is interested in an activity we do not offer, we will help you as much as we can to find a solution. To make sure that your child is happy with the sport chosen in our program there will be a one week free trial session (07. Sept 11. Sept). Information about how to sign up for a certain sport activity and all other necessary information you will find the After School Program Procedure. Should a child not be happy with his or her activity you have the option to switch to another one if spots are available. You will find all available sports activities on the upcoming pages in this catalogue. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. With Mr. Radi and Mr Assad we have to extremely experienced coaches in our school. Our U14 mixed team won the local championship in the last season. Due to the strong improvement of our children we are expecting a very competitive upcoming season. For our U16 Boys Team we could add Tim Burnette to our coaching staff. We are really happy to have him here as he just retired as a professional basketball player. He is now looking forward to start as a professional coaching career. It s a pleasure for our Sportverein that Tim can share his experience with our Kids. Last season a lot of girls started playing Basketball in our mixed Team as well as in the GISST Girls Team. So we decided to offer a U15 girls team which is coached my Miss Bingham who is an Upper School teacher here at school. She did an amazing job when coaching our GISST Girls and helping out with the U14 mixed throughout the past season.

4 Activity Day/ Instructor/Location/Fee Description Cheerleading Grade 2-8 Monday pm 2-5 Thursday pm 2-5& 6-8 Instructor: Miss Natalie Location: Mo. LS Gym, Th. US Gym Channel your school spirit! Through this activity you will be able to work on team skills, confidence, dancing, stunts (human pyramids), jumps and tumbling. We plan to perform at school assemblies and even cheer on our school team at local tournaments. Coached by Miss Natalie who spent over 10 years cheering on All-Star and college teams in the U.S.A and many more years coaching. She used to coach the Cheerleading team at ISS in the past and we are happy that Miss Natalie is back and offering this activity. Circus for Kids Grade 1-4 & 5-7 Tuesday pm 1 st Course Tuesday pm 2 nd Course Instructor: Mr. DaSilva & Mrs. Kalb Location: LS Gym The Students will learn how to juggle and do acrobatic tricks in a playful manner. At the end of each school year the Circus for Kids Club performs at the Final Lower School Assembly. The Circus Activity is the best booked activity in our Sport Club. For the upcoming school year, we found a professional substitute for Eva Doster who is travelling around the world after her retirement as a P.E. Teacher at ISS. Our new Circus Instructor Lino da Silva studied the Art of Circus, Artistic and Acrobatic at the University of Rio de Janeiro. He is leading a lot of Circus classes in different schools around Stuttgart. Furthermore, he has his own Circus School called Internationale Zirkusschule, Miss Anabelle Kalb who is one of our lower school teachers completes our Instructor Team.

For the upcoming season we offer four different age groups. Miss Anna will continue coaching our F-Juniors Team. For our E-Juniors we have a new coaching duo, Coach Marcus and Coach Alex. Both are studying Sport Science at the University of Stuttgart. Due to the big request we are offering a D-Juniors Team this year, too. Coach Ngam is happy to take the position of the D-Juniors. Just like every year we will also offer a Bambini Team for our little ones. Coach Anesti, who did a fantastic job last year, will continue coaching. All Teams compete in the Local German leagues. E-Juniors (born ) Tuesday pm Thursday pm Instructor: Coach Alex & Marcus Location: SV Hoffeld Turf All Teams except the Bambinis practice at SV Hoffeld Turf, Bopseräcker Stuttgart, also called Hohe Eiche. 6 Activity Day/ Instructor/Location/Fee Description Sport Development Grade EY4-grade 1 Wednesday pm Instructor: Miss Bianca & ASS Location: LS Gym In the Sport Development group the coaches will animate the kids to love sports by showing them different games and activities like swinging, climbing, throwing, jumping, catching etc. In a fun way kids will develop and improve their motor skills and will be prepared for future sports. Miss Bianca has studied sport science at the University of Stuttgart and is able to introduce all kind of sport activities to our children. She did a great job last year and we are happy that she is offering this activity again. Swimming Grade EY5-grade 3 Tuesday pm Instructor: Mr. Mustapha & Miss Viki Location: Wilhelms-Gymnasium Pool Like every year we are going to offer our well booked swimming class. With Mr. Mustapha we have an educated swimming teacher and life guard who did a great job last year. Miss Viki is going to support the Swimming class, she was the last years Cheerleading and Circus for Kids assistant. Our swimming class is for beginners. Here they learn to get a feeling for the water and will be taught the basic swimming elements. Tennis Grade 3-10 Wednesday pm 1 st group Wednesday pm 2 nd group Instructor: Mr. Andrej Drinka Location: Tennis Club Galileo Galilei-Str.20, S-Vaihingen & Hauberg 6, S-Musberg Price per year: 450 As we do not have our own tennis courts we have opted for a partnership with Galileo Tennis Club in Stuttgart-Vaihingen. Coach Andrej Drinka played professional tennis for a long time and has had top level coaching experience in a number of countries. Mr. Andrej holds an A-level coaching license from the USTA (United States Tennis Association) and a B-level license from the DTB (Deutscher Tennis Bund). He now has his own tennis club in Stuttgart-Vaihingen and is also known to be the organizer of the worldwide tennis tournament called OUATT (once upon a time tennis). After the first trial lesson Mr. Andrej will divide the children in two groups, beginners and advanced.

LS Gym, Th. US Gym Mr. Jürgen Frank has been working successfully for over 30 years as a coach in Track & Field. He has done an incredible job over the last years in our school. We are very proud to have such a professional person in our sports program.
