Section 6 - Setting up the Controller Network 6: Creating Site Groups Site Groups are an excellent way to organize your sites for quicker reference. Groups also make it easier to select like-groups for global scheduling, alarms or programming. W A R N I N G Each site only has the ability to be included in one group. Be sure to determine the most logical way to group the sites together, particularly when doing global scheduling or programming. Go to the My Sites page. Click the "Add Group" button. Enter a Group Name that accurately reflects the organization of the sites (i.e. if you are grouping geographically, then a name like "Northern Area Group" would be appropriate). Enter Comments that further help to describe the Group and did not fit well in the Group Name field.

6: TCS Basys Controls There are three tables you need to know on this page - Sites Assigned to New Group - This table shows all the sites that are included in the Site Group it will not appear when you come to the page, unless you are editing a current Site Group. It. Unassigned Sites - These are the sites that are immediately available to be included in the new Site Group. Other Sites - These are sites currently assigned to other Site Groups. Initially, the Groups are listed and when the Group name is clicked, it expands and shows all the sites currently assigned. It is possible that you might have a lot of sites assigned to you. Try using the search function to limit the sites you see on the page, see the Navigation: Search section for help. If all the sites you wish to add are currently unassigned, check the checkboxes next to each of the sites and click the "Add Selected Sites to Group" button. The sites are now added to that Site group. If there are sites you wish to add that are currently assigned to another Site Group, go in the Other Sites table and click the "Unassign" button next to each site you wish to make available to add to the new group. The sites now appear in the Unassigned Sites table. Repeat the previous step for adding Unassigned sites to group. Click the "Submit" button to save changes to Ubiquity.

Section 6 - Setting up the Controller Network 6: Editing Groups Editing groups works similar to Adding Groups. Go to the My Sites Page. Click the "Edit" button next to the Group you wish to edit. Follow the same steps for adding a Group. If you wish to remove sites from the Group, click the "Unassign" button next to any site you wish to remove. When you are finished click the "Submit" button to save changes to Ubiquity. You can remove a Group from Ubiquity by going to the My Sites page, checking the checkboxes of all the groups you wish to remove, and clicking the "Remove Checked" button. Likewise, you can remove sites from specific Groups at the My Sites page in the same way. Click the "Set Group Order" button to order the groups in the way you prefer for them to appear on screen. Highlight the group in the pop-up window and use the arrows to move it up or down. Alarm Points One of the critical functions of Ubiquity is its ability to trend and alarm information from the controller network. Ubiquity has the unique ability to automatically trend all the points from all the controllers in the network. No further setup is needed. Setting up helpful alarms requires attention to detail and refinement over time - eventually yielding quality information in the event of malfunction or impending problem in your facilitie s networks. Ubiquity makes the refinement of these alarms a simple process.

6:6 TCS Basys Controls Points are defined as the specific functions and readings of a controller, this can include room temperature, discharge air, analog outputs, overrides, etc. Go to the My Sites page Click on the Site link that has the points you want to trend Click on the Monitoring & Alarms button on the balck bar under the general site information on the Site Home page. Select a controller from the listing in the Networked Controllers table. Click the name of the controller to which you wish to add an alarm. In the expanded area are the current points which are set-up for alarming. You can either click the "Add Point" for a new alarm point or you can click the name of the point to modify an existing alarm.

Section 6 - Setting up the Controller Network 6: If a Digital Point is selected (i.e. DI1, DI2, DI3, DO1, DO2) Point Name - Select the point on which you wish to alarm from the drop-down. Alarm Action - Select an appropriate action from the drop-down: Record - Alarm is kept in Ubiquity database. This information is only accessed when generating an alarm summary report. Report - Alarm recipients will be notified of alarm, and a statement will appear on the Site Summary page noting the alarm (see Alarms: Alarm Recipients for details). Fallback - The Ubiquity server does all the alarming. However, for alarms in extra critical areas you can also have those alarms generated locally at either the QD2020i or QD2020ie. If, in the unlikely event that the Ubiquity server and the QD2020i/ie lose communications the device will continue to attempt to alarm locally. However, these alarms are limited to five recipients that must be configured in Admin > System Parameters and include very basic alarm messages (none of the Ubiquity aliasing abilities, etc.). It is recommended that these alarms are only reserved for the most critical emergencies. Alarm When - Determine what state the digital control must be in order to generate an alarm, either "OFF" or "ON." (See Controller Programming section for more information). You will learn later that you can rename this point and its states to something more logical for the installation - ie. Side door, Open or Closed. Alarm Severity - Rate the seriousness of the alarm so that when Users are notified they know what kind of action needs to be taken. Recipients can also be designated to only receive alarms of a certain severity, so close attention and a clear policy should be implemented when using this function. A 5 severity is designated as Very Low and a 1 is considered Very High (see Alarms: Alarm Severity for details).

6: TCS Basys Controls Set Alarm After - Point must be in alarm range for specified amount time as defined by your entry in the text box. Clear Alarm After - Point must be out of alarm range for specified amount time as defined by your entry in the text box. Custom Suggestion - Ubiquity provides suggestions for resolving the alarm within the alarm or on the Site Home site page. However, in many circumstances you may wish to say something more specific. Utilize the Custom Suggestion box to include your unique message to be distributed with the alarm to all the recipients. If you decide that you wish the suggestion to revert back to its default message, simply clear the text from the Custom Suggestion text box. Repeat Period - You can designate if and how often the alarm is redistributed. Choose a time period from the drop-down. This drop-down does not appear if Record is selected as the Alarm Action. To turn off the alarm (and stop it from repeating) a user must log into the site and click the Acknowledge Alarm button. You will have the option to click the check box next to the alarm on the Main Site page, then click the Remove Checked button at the bottom of the table to archive the selected alarms. Qualifiers - You can add, edit or remove qualifying conditions and times for each alarm (see Alarms: Creating a Qualifier for details). Alarm Recipient - In this section you will designate which contacts should recieve this alarm (see Alarms: Alarm Recipients for details). If Analog Point is selected (Room Temperature, Setpoints, Analog Outputs, etc.) Alarm Action - Select an appropriate action from the drop-down (see 6:7 on previous page for details).

Section 6 - Setting up the Controller Network 6: Low Limit - Define the low limit before the alarm is triggered. Check the "Enable" checkbox to make this active. High Limit - Define the high limit before the alarm is triggered (i.e. Room Temperature at "80" you want the alarm to set). Check the "Enable" checkbox to make this active. Hysteresis - Define the "dead band" area before an alarm is deactivated. Alarm Severity - Rate the Seriousness of the alarm (see 6:7 for details). Set Alarm After - Enter desired time (see 6:8 for details). Clear Alarm After - Enter desired time (see 6:8 for details). Custom Suggestion - Enter custom message (see 6:8 for details). Repeat Period - Enter desired time period (see 6:8 for details).

6:10 TCS Basys Controls Creating a Qualifier To reduce the number of erroneous alarms that the recipients might receive, you can setup qualifiers that require multiple conditions to occur before an alarm is triggered. These qualifiers can be based on another Point and/or a time factor. Click the "Add Qualifier" button at the bottom of the alarm point section of the Networked Controller Table. Select the Qualifying Controller and Point from the drop-down. Digital Point Qualifier - Since this is an "Open" "Closed" setting, simply select which state you wish the digital point to be in order to trigger the alarm. Analog Point Qualifier - Select from the drop-down either "Greater than" or "Less than" and enter the desired value into the text box. Next, set the "Hysteresis" (the lag between when something goes in and out of alarm) to the desired tolerance. Not entering a value here sets the hysteresis to zero. Click the "Remove Qualifier" button to delete a qualifying Controller and Point. This button replaces the Add Qualifier button once it is clicked. Click the "Add Time Qualifier" button at the bottom of the alarm point section of the Networked Controller Table. Select the desired days and times during which you want the alarm active. Click the "Remove Time Qualifier" button to delete a time qualifier, This button replaces the Add Time Qualifier bottom once it is clicked.

Section 6 - Setting up the Controller Network 6:11 Alarm Recipients You must define to whom the alarms will be distributed. Alarms are sent via , either to the user's PC or text enabled pager/mobile phone. With Ubiquity you have the option of either setting up Users to receive all the alarms for a site (on the User Admin page) or selecting specific controllers to attach to specific recipients (in the Alarm Recipents section on the Controller Networking Setup page). See Section 5:7 Adding a User for information on setting up Site-wide alarm recipients. Click "Alarm Recipients" to expand that section. It is located underneath the Alarm Points is the Alarm Recipients section. This is sometimes difficult to see because it appears in a collapsed state, look for the gray line under the gray alarms section. Click the checkbox next to the name of each user that you wish to receive the alarms you set above. This section shows all users currently in the system with access to this site, as well as their available times, as setup in the User Admin. Check to see if there is an address in this section. If you don't see an address it means the user has not been set up fully. Go back to the User Admin to put in the address (Be sure to click "Submit" before you leave this page if you wish to save the changes you've made). Click the checkboxes underneath the Severity section. This corresponds with the severity drop-down in the alarm point section. By selecting specific severity values you can limit which alarms from the controller this user receives. (ie. if you want a manager to receive only the most serious alarms you can set him up to only get priority 1 and 2 alarms). Click the "Submit" button on the Master Site Programming page to save changes to Ubiquity. Note: Below the Networked Controllers Table are system preference settings. Make changes as appropriate (normally these are set up with the hardware defaults and don't require any changes). Refer to the Systems Preferences section for details.

6:12 TCS Basys Controls Naming Controllers and Network Settings To make controllers easily identifiable within your network you should give unique names and descriptions to each of your controllers. Go the My Sites page. Click on the Site link for which you want to name a controller. Click the "Edit" button next to the controller name. All of the controllers are automatically named Auto_Detected_X (where X is the Controller Address) in the Controller Table on the Site Home page. If the controller has not yet been added to the network, click the "Add Controller" button at the top of the table and follow the directions for adding a controller in Section 3: Adding a Controller. Remember, it may take several minutes for the controllers to be auto-detected after commisioning, so be sure to wait a while before adding controllers manually. In the pop-up window, enter a Controller Name. Try to be specific enough that when you look at it on a table, you will have an immediate idea of where it is, or what equipment it is controlling. Enter a Controller Location. This should be the physical location of the controller (i.e. "Bob's Office - by the window").

Section 6 - Setting up the Controller Network 6:13 Controller type (TCS Basys Controls model), Controller Address (Address on the Controller Network), and Enable Communications (allows the controller to communicate on the Network) should already be filled in, if you auto-detected the controllers. If they are not filled in, make the appropriate selections. W A R N I N G Improper selections or changes will result in Ubiquity losing communication with your controller. Make sure you absolutely know the proper information before making the changes. Communications Fail Action determines how Ubiquity handles the event of the controller losing communications on the network. None - No record is kept of failure. Record - Failure is kept in Ubiquity database. This information is only accessed when generating a report. Report - Alarm recipients will be notified of failure and a statement will appear on the main site page noting the failure. This will be distributed to all recipients designated to receive site-wide alarms. Fallback - Used only in fallback mode for the QD2020i and QD2020ie, not recommended for normal usage. (For more information on these actions see Alarm Points in this section.) Communications Alarm Severity attaches a severity when the alarm is distributed. Ubiquity automatically checks the Enable Communications box. Ubiquity automatically sets this action to Record. If you want to be notified of failure change this to Report.

6:14 TCS Basys Controls Use Schedule - With Ubiquity you can create an unlimited number of schedules and designate them to operate with any controller. Select the schedule that you wish the controller to use, if you have not already setup a schedule, refer to the Scheduling section for details. You can also attach schedules to the controller on the Controller Programming page or on the Global Programming page). If you want to take advantage of Global Scheduling (the ability to schedule multiple sites simultaneously), you must have this set to use the Master Schedule. This can also be done on the Controller Programming page under the Scheduling section. Enable Outdoor Air Temperature, CO 2, and Outdoor Humidity Sharing options allow a controller without that type of sensor connected to it to use the value from another controller that has that type of sensor connected. Select the appropriate option if you wish to share that information with this controller. Click the "Submit" button to save your changes to Ubiquity. If you wish to place your own image in place of the controller default image click on the controller default image. A popup will appear that will allow you to browse your harddrive to upload a different image. Click OK when you have selected the image. Note: For best viewing controller images should be 50 by 50 pixels, and must be in JPEG or GIF format.
