1 Walton Academy for the Performing Arts December 2016 Newsletter Happy Holidays WAPA Community! Thank you to all those who came out to Great American Teach In to share with our students about your profession and hobbies last month. It was exciting for our students to hear and see the different careers choices that are available to them. Going for the Gold is our theme for the school year and we here at Walton Academy take pride in being a WAPA Champion. Dressing for the Gold, On Time for the Gold is where our families can make a difference in the lives of our students. We are still looking for our students to dress in their school uniform EVERYDAY and come to school ON TIME at 8am. Your child s success depends on them being to school everyday and on time to get their instruction. We want the best for our students and we need your support! Over the Winter Break, our students will receive an enrichment packet for reading and math. We are sending this home so that our students do not lose what has been taught over the past few months. Please make sure that your child completes the enrichment packet and return it to school. In January, all students will be taking mid-year assessments to see their academic progress from the beginning of the school year. We will also begin our Reading Challenge... Reading for the GOLD!!! We will kick off over the Winter Break with a Winter Challenge reading with MYON. Together We Truly Can Make A Difference... Merry Christmas & Have a Happy New Year! [1]

WAPA Winter Festival Thursday, December 17th 10am - 1pm Join us for a fun-filled day of Live Performances by the students that will begin at 10am and funfilled activities throughout the day. Hands-on Holiday Experiments Holiday Treats & Goodies Arts & Crafts Pictures with Santa Karaoke Caroling Games & More... ATTIRE: Students are to wear blue jeans and a red or green tshirt for the performance. K,1st, 2nd & 3rd Graders will need black tap shoes. 4th & 5th grade girls will need to wear black leotards, black leggings or black tights and pink ballet shoes. Dear Read on myon families, We are happy to announce the 2016 myon Winter Reading Challenge, Light Camera ActioBe a Star and Read with myon this Winter! We want to encourage students to read over the holiday break and take advantage of the more than 5,000 books on myon. The program will run from December 16th through January 3rd.
