1 PARENT/PLAYER INFORMATION WODONGA WOLVES 2015/2016 The information supplied here should assist parents or players with some of the questions they have of the Wodonga Wolves Junior Representative Program. Further questions may be directed to the Junior Representative Coordinator Paul Green or mobile Training Attire Please ensure that appropriate basketball training attire is worn. Running shorts or Skins are not permitted (skins may be worn under shorts) Length of Season The squad season commences in October after tryouts and finishes in approximately March/April Additionally some teams may wish to attend a tournament after other teams have finished. Training will begin in August. Costs Representative basketball is not cheap and families need to consider the costs when deciding wether to be involved in the program of not. The registration fee is $320 per child Uniform Depending on the team your child is selected in, this will determine what the compulsory items are. For all teams the items of uniform will be (prices to be confirmed and are approximates below), with

2 Players that purchased uniforms mentioned above in previous seasons will not need to re-purchase those items. Playing Shorts $30 (compulsory for all players) Playing tops $30 (compulsory for all players) Reversible training singlets $30 (compulsory for all players) Warm up polo top $40 (not compulsory) Hoodie $55 (not compulsory) Wolves Backpack approx. $45 (not compulsory) Wolves socks $7 (not compulsory) Families are also responsible for the cost of all accommodation, travel and meals at tournaments. We recommend you book your accommodation as soon as possible as it tends to fill quickly. Tournaments All teams will attend 7 tournaments. 10 Selected players from each age group will also attend Championships. The tournaments to be attended are; Echuca 3 & 4 October 2015 Swan Hill 24 & 25 October 2015 Geelong 8 & 9 November 2015 Wangaratta - 21 & 22 November 2015 Shepparton 4,5 & 6 December (Friday night games) Bendigo 23, 24 & 25 January 2016 Wodonga 5, 6 & 7 February 2016 Benalla - 27 February & 28 February 2016 Traralgon 12, 13 & 14 March 2016

3 You will need to let your coach know as soon as possible if you are not available to attend all of the tournaments. Championships (10 players from each age group will be selected) Scoring Echuca, Wangaratta, Shepparton, Bendigo & Wodonga Tournaments are to be attended by all teams. Squad coaches will select 2 other tournaments to attend. All families are expected to score at tournaments. Your team manager will put a roster out for each tournament. If you don t know how to score, please learn before the tournaments start. WBA will run a scoring clinic in mid to late September. Please check the website for further details. Guidelines and Codes of Conduct The Wodonga Wolves program like all basketball program strongly enforces the Basketball Victoria Country Code of Conduct and also has its own Wodonga Wolves Policy and Guidelines document. These documents will be made available to all players, coaches, team managers and parents at tryouts. Once selected - all Players, Parents, Coaches and Team Managers will need to sign a declaration stating they have read these documents. It is recommended that all rep players play in Division 1 in their domestic competition. (The Junior rep coordinator and the Junior Pooling coordinator will make the final decision on wether to put a player up or not) Court Time Representative basketball is not about each player getting even court time. When possible most coaches will try and give each player a reasonable amount of court time, however there are no guarantees.

4 Team Manager For each team a Team Manager will be chosen by the coach and approved by the Wodonga Wolves Rep Committee. The Team Manager is generally one of the parents from the team. An information night for Team Managers will be held in the near future. All teams must have a representative preferably the manager at this information session. The Team Manager is a vital component in the success of the team. Representative Player Expectations The By Laws for Wodonga Basketball Association state that all junior representative players must play their domestic games and need to play a minimum of 75% of their domestic games to qualify for the junior representative program. The Administrator will advise the Junior Rep Coordinator of player who does not meet the minimum requirements. All players will be asked to sign the player code of conduct. Wodonga Wolves Rep Program Volunteers run the Junior Rep Program with Paul Green as the Junior Rep Coordinator. The Wodonga Basketball Association Committee is the governing body of the Junior Rep Program. Any problems that cannot be resolved at team level should be directed to the Junior Rep Coordinator. If the issue cannot be resolved, the issue will be referred to the Wodonga Basketball Committee. All complaints to the committee must be in writing. The WBA Committee meets once a month. Please remember when addressing any members of any committees that they are volunteers who are attempting to run the program for the benefit of all players involved and should be treated with respect. Without these valued volunteers the Junior Squad Program would cease to operate.

5 Wodonga Wolves Squad Coaches The Wodonga Basketball Association and Junior Rep Coordinator Paul Green are pleased to announce the coaching appointments for the 2015/2016 Season. BOYS HEAD COACH U12 Dee Ivic U14 Michael Thompson U16 Rachel & Phi Maenpaa U18 Josh McKay GIRLS HEAD COACH U12 Rachel Gorman U14 David Thompson U16 Paul Green U18 James Thompson Speed Training All athletes will have the option of attending 7 sessions of Speed with RPM Training. These sessions are run by Rachel and Phil Maenpaa and assist with speed, footwork and injury prevention. There will be a cost to these sessions that will be extra for athletes. It is likely to be around $100 for 7 Sessions.
