4 Introduction Introduction Welcome to NetOp Remote Control, the remote control software from Danware. This Quick Guide will guide you through the installation and startup of NetOp Remote Control on computers running on a Windows operating system. You can find detailed documentation in the User s Manual that is included as a PDF file on the NetOp Remote Control CD and in on-line help that will be available after installation. NetOp Product Services Features NetOp Remote Control enables remote control and other interaction between computers. NetOp Guest running on one computer can connect to NetOp Host running on another computer to remote control the Host computer and interact in other ways with the Host computer and its user. The Host computer user can request help from a Guest computer user that offers help services. NetOp Remote Control supports a wide range of operating systems to enable remote control and other interaction between computers running on different operating systems. NetOp Remote Control supports a wide range of communication protocols and provides connection devices to enable interaction between computers in practically any communication environment. NetOp Remote Control provides advanced security options to protect computer resources and communication against unauthorized intrusion and alteration. Installation Insert the NetOp Remote Control CD into a computer CD drive to display a window with language buttons. 4

5 Installation Click English to display this window: Click Install NetOp Remote Control to display a window with NetOp Remote Control module buttons. To install NetOp Guest, click NetOp Guest. To install NetOp Host, click NetOp Host. 5

6 Installation This window will be displayed: This is the first window of the installation setup wizard. If you are installing NetOp Host, the wizard windows will display Host instead of Guest. Click Next to display this window: 6

7 Installation Select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next to display this window: Specify in the fields your user name, organization name and license number and click Next to display this window: 7

8 Installation To install all available features, select Complete and click Next to display this window: Leave the box checked to enable the installed module to communicate and click Next to display this window: Click Install to start installation. 8

9 Installation When installation has completed, this window will be displayed: Leave the box checked to load the module after ending the installation setup wizard. Click Finish to end the setup wizard closing the window. 9

10 Guest Startup Guest Startup If not loaded, load NetOp Guest from Start > All Programs > NetOp Remote Control > Guest to display this window in front of the NetOp Guest window: 10

11 Guest Startup This is the first window of the Guest configuration setup wizard. Click Next to display this window: To communicate in a local area network environment, leave the Fast connections selection and click Next to display this window: 11

12 Guest Startup To not communicate by computer modem connections, leave the No selection and click Next to display this window: Leave the Yes,... selection to display the NetOp Product Registration web page in your Internet browser when clicking Next or select another option. Click Next to display this window if Yes,... was not selected: 12

13 Guest Startup Click Finish to end the configuration setup wizard to close the window. You can re-run the configuration setup wizard from the Tools menu Run Setup Wizard command. The NetOp Guest window will be fully displayed: NetOp Guest will now be ready to connect to NetOp Host. Before connecting, you should read the relevant documentation sections. In the Help menu, select Contents to display the NetOp Guest Help window. Its left section contains an expandable graphical table of contents. 14 Host Startup Host Startup If not loaded, load NetOp Host from Start > All Programs > NetOp Remote Control > Host to display this window in front of the NetOp Host window: 14

15 Host Startup This is the first window of the Host configuration setup wizard. Click Next to display this window: For a typical Host setup, leave the Default selection and click Next to display this window: 15

16 Host Startup To load and start NetOp Host to become ready for connection when the computer is switched on, leave the Start with Windows selection and click Next to display this window: To protect access to the Host, specify in the fields the same password that will be requested from all connecting Guests. Click Next to display this window: 16

17 Host Startup Leave the Yes,... selection to display the NetOp Product Registration web page in your Internet browser when clicking Next or select another option. Click Next to display this window if Yes,... was not selected: Click Finish to end the configuration setup wizard to close the window. You can re-run the configuration setup wizard from the Tools menu Run Setup Wizard command. Typically, NetOp Host will be minimized into a button in the notification area in the lower right screen corner: Its tooltip that will be displayed when placing the mouse pointer over it will display the Host status and typically the Host computer IP address. 17

18 Remote Host Computer Logon Double-click this button to display the NetOp Host window: When the Host status is Running as displayed in the title bar, NetOp Host is ready for NetOp Guest to connect to it. Before connecting, you should read the relevant documentation sections. In the Help menu, select Contents to display the NetOp Host Help window. Its left section contains an expandable graphical table of contents. We recommend that you start by reading this section: Host Startup Guide Remote Host Computer Logon You can connect to NetOp Host even if no user is logged on to the Host computer. If you start a remote control session with NetOp Host on a computer to which no user is logged on, the Welcome to Windows window will typically be displayed. To achieve the effect of pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL on the Host computer keyboard to display the Log on to Windows window, you must send the CTRL+ALT+DEL keystroke combination from the matching remote control display button: 18
